Producer/Engineer Entertainment Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Long time user, very happy" March 17, 2023 5.0 At first we used it for multi-streaming to try to grow our audience by pushing to various services and it worked great for that. Now we use it as a relay. It seems to reduce our latency to Twitch and it allows us to do some checks before the show goes live. Pros It was a little less expensive than the competition, which is why we chose it. Over time, we've found it very useful. Even just things like checking the audio video sync before going live... it's a huge advantage to have a service like this. Cons Sometimes it logs me out in the middle of a session. This is just an annoyance, it's not a huge deal but logging back in to start the stream can be a little annoying. It's the best option out there for your live streaming needs I couldn't think of going to another platform. Pros Customer service. Apart from a faultless service, the staff are always eager to answer any questions and help in anyway they can. Fast response times and an understanding attitude. Cons The billing and data allowance information and email alerts are very unclear. I don't know if that is intentional or not but it's the feeling that I get. It has been fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone that would like to broadcast to multiple destinations at one time. Pros Castr is so easy to use and allows so much freedom when it comes to our church livestreams. I have quickly been able to train other congregation members, who are more elderly, to use this software with ease which allows more freedom for me. With that said being able to login from any location allows me to troubleshoot any ideas they may come across when I am not on site. I love this product very much. Cons I cannot say there are any cons I have found with Castr. This product has been so good and reliable that it creates a quality product to multiple destinations at one time making my life so much easier. If I have to mention one con, is that I have not been able to figure out the responding to all platforms at one time, but I think that comes from me using a phone and not a computer. Reason for choosing Castr Upon trying Castr in their free trial, I quickly learned how great and easy it was and my mind was made up from the very start. Support over chat has been responsive with any questions. After using it with this organization, I have recommended Castr to other organizations, and they have been happy with performance. One of the nonprofits I work with only has to broadcast events every few months, so I have the flexibility to signup in months I will need Castr, and then cancel when I don't need it. And all my settings stay when I signup again. Pros During pandemic, we had to quickly transition our on onsite mosque programs to online only. Previously we would record and upload certain programs to YouTube, but now we would be hosting via Zoom, and we wanted to reach our audience on YouTube and Facebook live as well. There are many tools on the market, but we found Castr to be easy to set up and priced similarly to others. Castr also allows you to stream to other major platforms such as Twitch and Vimeo and so many others we have not heard of. We have also liked the ability to upload videos and schedule a go live event. It drastically reduces the need to manage things separately on Facebook and YouTube. Cons YouTube integration was finicky in the beginning, and part of it was with how YouTube was making changes. We settled upon separate YouTube streaming keys for each of our event types, and configured them as as separate streams in Castr. This also means we have to pre-schedule our streams in YouTube and associate with the correct. However, we have worked that into our processes, and it isn't that much overhead. We've also had the occasional problem with Facebook where the stream starts twice, and and we end up with 2 events (a 2 minute start of the event, and then a separate one with the rest). Reason for choosing Castr Pricing was better for the features that we require. We needed something that offered great value for money, with the mandatory requirement of multi-site streaming capabilities. We use Castr each week to livestream to our church Facebook and YouTube pages, and it has been vital in providing a quality production output week in and week out for over 2 years for us. Cons This is less a criticism of Castr, and more of YouTube, one of our two streaming destinations. The integration to our YouTube livestreaming setup is less clean that Facebook. While you can have Castr autofill the details of your service, I have found it more convenient to edit those livestream details directly on YouTube's own website. Reason for choosing Castr The main selling point for us was the cost and value prospect, which I still hold to that Castr is unbeatable for our needs in that respect. Pros We are asked to simulcast our productions to various platforms on a daily basis. The ease that comes with using the Castr platform is a game changer. The remote cloud management that allows me to deploy to different mediums is great. Cons Would like to see a mobile app. As well when attempting to login via web from mobile streams dont always preview. Pros We are make broadcasting to social networks (You Tube and Facebook live). We work as follow: I am in Colombia and take remote control of the video production swicth in California, USA. We use OBS, and select the most near server in CA. Simply, it's very fast and the connection is excelent. In another situations, when \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] trave to South América (as in Chile) we use Castr.io as efficient as in USA. Cons One time broadcasting from Chile, we had problems with USA/CA server losting a lot of frames, and inmediately use an emergency site in Sao Paulo, BR, but affecting the socials network broadcasting for fifteen minutes (long tiem for us). We searche for help reporting post-troubleshooting, but the answer to understand, arrived so later. :-( I think that if we can have a backup server with automatic failover jump, we could avoid those embarrashed situations.
