Fun fact is that I set everything up on another service provider and it worked as intended out of the box. SO I know it wasn't my settings that was the problem. Pros Multi streaming and the simplicity of the service. Cons It didn't work as intended, the stream lagged no matter the settings on my ATEM switcher, OBS, Wirecast. Pros In just seconds after logging in I'm ready to stream to my favorite platforms. Cons Actually I like it for how simple it is that is why I do not find anything bad, however it would be interesting a transmission control system embedded in the page, this will allow you to use anywhere and without the need for more power equipment the realization of live broadcasts with guests by video calls. In fact we do recommend it, often! Pros The pre-recorded scheduled as live streaming functionality is a game-changer; second to none. This feature has enabled us to deliver and elevate projects that we could not have done without Castr. Cons We did hit an issue where we could only deliver 720p pre-recorded as live streams. We raised it with the help chat but couldn't resolve the issue. We will try again. There have been no issues with downtime or failing to connect with our streaming endpoints. Pros It is very easy to connect with streaming providers. Many different providers are supported. Castr works well with the app we are using to stream. Cons There is no quick way to change the metadata for streams. The same title and description is used for every stream unless a person logs in and changes it before each stream. Would be nice to be able to include some variables (such as date)to the title and description. Reason for choosing Castr Cost, ease of use. I pre-setup the two profiles so that our volunteers can easily select the correct profile to use for making the livestream happen. Cons There is a strange login glitch that has been happening but all that's needed is to login in a second time and it is fine. We keep the same settings each week and it only takes 30 seconds to get it up and going Pros Castr is easy to set up and use. It's easy to stream to multiple sources - the lag is low. Cons It's a little unclear exactly what's included with each price point. For the Livestream, the product works great. Pros It is very easy to set up and has worked in the live streaming realm without hiccups. Cons For the recorded video to broadcast later, there are some real hiccups to getting Facebook to work. In the three times of attempting to get the recorded streams to work, only once has worked. I must say, it would be very helpful if they would allow invoicing. I work for a municipality and our payment system is not equipped to manage monthly payments via credit card / pay pal. I'm having to pay and get reimbursed. Then, every month when the payment goes through, my credit union marks it as potentially fraudulent and puts a block on my card until I jump through some hoops. I could erase this by green-lighting all charges from Canada (I live in the U.S.) but I am not going to do this. It would be helpful if U.S. business is going to expand to fix these two billing challenges. Pros Very easy to use with lots of platforms available to choose from. Support is very responsive if you have any issues. Cons A current bug requires activating each platform individually, from the bottom up, if using more than a couple platforms. The master control switch runs into an erroneous licensing error. Not hard to work around, but it was frustrating the first time I discovered it at the top of a program. Only good things to say about the ease of implementation and flexibility to multistream/simulcast. Pros Connection to multiple streaming platforms is super valuable. Price is absolutely reasonable and worth so much more! Does not require extensive manual reading or knowing too much. Easy setup and quick application to many online forums (websites, Facebook, Youtube, etc.). Highly encouraged by the use of monitoring to see what is coming in to the site and what is going out. Their support has been head and shoulders above any other online service provider we have used. The live chat support works great and the support representatives are very knowledgable and do their best to provide good information and answer all your questions. Pros The Castr restreaming product was very easy to set up and works flawlessly. We use it every night to live stream our 10pm newscast on YouTube and Facebook. In addition, the low cost of the service was a big bonus for what is a very robust and mature product. Cons No real negatives... The restreaming product worked great. I had complaints that some wanted to watch on YouTube and others on Facebook, so what could I do...then I found Castr and my problems were over. I've had no problems with the service and it serves my needs more than I could ever imagine. Pros This software allows me to stream our church services to both Facebook and YouTube because some of our members can only use one or the other services to watch the services. Cons At this point for what I need, I can't see or haven't found any cons about this software. It worked perfectly for me for the first 3 broadcasts. I was excited. Than after that it decided to drop thousands of frames a broadcast and lose the bit rate of the stream. My viewers had a terrible experience and so I had to stop using it. Very disappointing and a loss of funds Pros Ease of use. Lag time is so impressively little; close to FTL. On the whole it is a very good restream option, competes well with any other out there, and is a good value for money. You'd probably never want to switch once you get in. Cons Video quality can be better. There is quite noticeable difference in the quality of the feed or video when streaming directly to the external platform, say YouTube. I don't know what Castr does - maybe a recompression or other messing around with the bits and bytes. I have told them about this quite a while ago. Having the option for 5 encoders means we can bring in 5 live cameras in to our control room remotely without the need to spend on very expensive equipment to make this happen. We often get asked to stream on many social media sites at the same time which again Castr just allows!!
