Overall our experience has been very positive. The support staff is extremely responsive, and helpful when we need to make changes or additions to plots. It took a lot of work on our part to upload all the old paper documents, but well worth the effort.

Pros

The ability to map and locate plots, and to store key records. Also the fact that photos and stories can be added to interments for public view.

Cons

Graphics are a little week on the public page.

### "Grave Considerations for a Small Cemetery"

Our duties are much more manageable. We are able to satisfactorily assist our members with this most holy task, knowing that our records are current and safely preserved. For example, previously it was difficult to determine exactly on which side of a gravestone a body was buried. Chronicle's drone survey images make it much easier to identify a disturbance in the ground. Just recently a member was concerned that his mother and father were not buried side by side. We were able to send screenshots of the Chronicle map to help him communicate with his sisters and with all of us. Being able to resolve such issues successfully is very comforting to the families, and meaningful to us. We are all volunteers. The Chronicle software has simplified the challenges we face and assures a successful and permanent future for our cemetery for years to come.

Pros

Remote access to our cemetery information has been a dream come true for me. As a volunteer committee, we can now communicate easily about gravesite locations, purchases, and rights of burial. The database and map location can be updated simultaneously and immediately. We are able to send screenshots - with notations - to the mortuary or to the monument company. Or to the family members themselves. This has been a huge benefit to all parties involved.

Cons

The Report function is one I find frustrating to use. I have to uncheck so many categories to get just what we need. And it's not as intuitive to use as I would like.

### "Exactly what our cemetery needed!"

Overall we have had an excellent experience with Chronicle. Right from our first contact they have been engaged and attentive to our needs. They understand what makes our cemetery tick and more importantly what our customers need to connect with us in a meaningful way. If I was to offer some advice to anyone considering moving to the Chronicle platform it would be to meticulously curate your data prior to the transfer. I personally have found that there were many redundant aspects of our legacy data which unfortunately, have come across to Chronicle because we weren't aware of them during our curation process. Take a good hard look at what you are recording, where it is recorded and why it is recorded, from there you may be able to eliminate much of what is unnecessary and enjoy a cleaner start with this outstanding system. As our cemetery grows the Chronicle team are always available and supportive to our needs, meaning that we can be confident that new developments will be taken care of swiftly and are accurately reflected in the platform. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Chronicle, improving our business performance, our systems, and the service we provide to our valued clients.

Pros

I felt that Chronicle offered all of the elements needed to effectively manage our cemetery records and operations plus so much more. We have barely scratched the surface of the platform's capabilities but we hope to make full use of all it's features in the future. It has proven to be an invaluable tool for us and our customers who can now explore and appreciate our beautiful space like never before.

Cons

Honestly I can't say there's anything not to like. There are occasional issues with adapting to the platform from our legacy processes but certainly nothing that is insurmountable or without a simple workaround. We may be in a slightly different position to many cemeteries in that we have only been operating for 25 years and have a considerable amount of development still to take place but Chronicle's team has, and continues, to support us every step of the way.

The communication with the team at Chronicle is remarkable. Customer service is excellent.

Pros

Specifically designed for cemetery management, it has the ability to continually evolve according to industry needs, ideas and expectations. I really like that it is very comprehensive and able to accommodate all documentation and management requirements. Importantly, Chronicle promotes community engagement, allowing record searches, genealogy studies and location of interment sites. Records are no longer locked away with access only available to cemetery staff.

Cons

I would like it to be a bit faster. Sometimes the internet seems slow making it difficult to move from page to page.

Helpful software. Very helpful customer service. They are usually very quick to help me find a solution to my problem.

Pros

Customer support is excellent. They are always able to help me with any issues I may have. They usually offer different options to fix my issue.

Cons

Sometimes there’s a lag in responses due to location differences. But it’s not really that big of a deal.

Our overall experience with Chronicle has been excellent. It has transformed our cemetery into a living archive and provided the public with a meaningful way to connect with the history of Kaapsehoop. Even with limited use of the administrative functions, the storytelling and record-keeping capabilities alone have been invaluable.

Pros

Chronicle has allowed us to bring our historical cemetery to life by sharing the stories behind the headstones. The platform is easy to use, visually engaging, and makes heritage accessible to the public in a way that is both respectful and informative

Cons

As we manage a mostly dormant cemetery, many of the advanced back-office features (plot sales, grave scheduling, financial tools) are not directly relevant to us. While not really a drawback, it means we haven’t explored the full potential of Chronicle yet

From the start, the folks at Chronicle have been knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Their follow-up has been excellent and I've never been left hanging for an answer, report or update.

Pros

We love thoroughness of the database that captures so much information. Our cemetery includes people from the Revolutionary Era through the present. It's wonderful to now have all that organized and accessible. Before we basically relied on one person with a great memory to help locate a grave! Chronicle's digitizing of our cemetery has insured the historical record is intact and accessible.

Cons

It can take a little time for the database to return results - but it's working with a ton of data, so a little patience is no big deal.

### "Chronicle review - York United Church"

It was a pleasure to work with Chronicle on this project. In my previous life before I was in ministry, I spent about 32 years in IT working with numerous vendors on automation and GIS projects. I found Chronicle to be responsive, organized and demonstrated good attention to detail. I am hoping to deploy this solution for some of the other cemeteries within our pastoral charge.

Pros

I particularly like the mapping and GIS functionality. We tried to create a Cemetery management system in the past using ESRI software. But when I found Chronicle, I realized that its software as a service approach would mean it would be relatively easy to deploy and easy to use. I was also impressed with how Chronicle facilitated the drone coverage of our cemetery and carefully put together the data set.

Cons

Probably the response time over the internet. However this has not been a significant problem. That being said, if Chronicle could improve the response time that would be a good thing.

Chronicle has been amazing! Switching to Chronicle has made our customer/cemetery experiences so much better. It is easier for families to find their loved ones.

Cons

We have had a huge increase in families wanting to bury urns with previous deceased family members. This causes a change in the mapping process that can only be changed by Chronicle. Chronicle has been very helpful and timely with these change requests.

### "Transitioning into Digitial Cemetery Records"

From the first phone call to enquire about receiving a quote to upgrade our 13 cemeteries records from paper based into this digital format. it has been a very clear and concise process, with good communication between everyone involved. The team at Chronicle have been extremely helpful and we have been able to achieve transferring all of our existing data into the program and add new burial/interments as needed each week.

Pros

The best features of the Chronicle software are the straightforwardness of the program. All of our staff are able to update records and images easily as it is very user friendly.

Cons

Nothing negative from us. So far it has been a very positive experience.

Reason for choosing Chronicle

Both of these other products were also very good but had too much in the program to manage. We liked the simpler Chronicle software that was easy to use and easy to update. We also felt confident in the response we received from the Chronicle team that the work that was needed to be achieved could be done with them.

### "Chronicle for small rural cemetries"

I have been very happy with the product and the support that I have received from the Chronicle team.

Pros

Chronicle is reasonably easy to navigate through. The maps and images are very useful to allow contractors and interested new lease applicants to look at the Cemetery online. We have four cemeteries with each one having their own Curator. Chronicle will allow curators to step in at another cemetery when the need arises. It will also allow for succession planning for the Curators.

Cons

Some of the map image has been compromised because of trees hiding the images. Our biggest issue was that our existing records were mostly paper based and it took a considerable amount of time to get all of our information into a database - this was no fault of Chronicle, but a reflection on the existing management of our Cemetery records.

The fact that it is cloud based, and had been developed by the same person that came an gave the demonstrations and sales pitch! This grassroots approach has meant that \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] and his team are very responsive to suggestion for improvements and additional features.

Cons

That it has been hard for the public to find us when searching on google.

I did look at some of the other companies that were promoted by CCAV, but they were all large international companies. I liked the personal service we got from Chronicle, and a liked the idea of supporting a home grown option.

### "Just what we were looking for"

They are a great partner and worth every penny.

Pros

We were very discouraged with a local surveyor who told and there was nothing in the industry that would allow us to have a digital survey of our small cemetery. We only maintain the cemetery and have no remaining sites available for new interests, and we also have a lot of history associated with the current sites. I did some research and found several, and Chronical was the only one to personally email back. After 3 zoom meetings with them and a very clear list of to do's for us, we were on our way. It was a quick process after we uploaded our documents, and within 30 days we were meeting again going over the actual graphical map. We had a couple of changes and they were completed in a short period of time. Currently we use this internally and once we put in the additional info that we have, we will discuss making it public. They are very good at what they do, and you can trust them to hold your hand along the way.

Cons

This was more on our side, as our town has a lot of tree cover, and the company was not in town to walk the cemetery with us and had to overlay our map and you do not see the amazing trees that are in and around. But we still Love the end product..

### "Review of Chronicle"

Pros

The mapping feature and ability to locate individual graves and information about burials. Improvements and additional features are being made to the software.

Cons

Setting up the map overlay. The older graves are not all in straight line. Some of the graves don't show their correct location. We have many burials where the location of the grave is unknown. I cannot edit or change details about these graves. One suggestion that was not implemented was where the section was known, but not the location within the section of the cemetery was not known, a pin could be located within the relevant section of the cemetery to show unknown graves within that section.

It will offer a one-stop location for users to search grave locations, ancestral searches, a streamlined approach to purchasing burial sites, and organize the processes for our non-profit volunteers.

Cons

Because of the location of the developer I miss the face-to-face interaction, but mostly the ability to immediately contact someone by telephone.

Price was a major determinant. We're a small church with a small budget. Managing the cemetery with out any experience at the beginning several years ago was a major hurdle.

For your Cons regarding the screen capture function, it is actually already possible in Chronicle. After selecting any plot or interment, on the left panel you can click "PDF Report" to create a printable map identifying the location and listing the interments. Chronicle has a large data base and a very easy search function. The plot map overlaid on the site photo makes it incredibly easy to locate the site of any grave.

Cons

Chronicle is difficult to use on a mobile phone, which would be preferred by most cemetery visitors at the time of visiting

We are still in the setup phase so our experience with Chronicle is limited but we are happy with the progress and see the product being able to make our cemetery greatly more efficient.

Pros

The Chronicle team is willing to work with our cemetery to structure the data and map to our needs. They have delivered on everything they promised.

Cons

They are rolling out updates on the fly so it isn't quite mature yet, but the product keeps getting better.

Love it especially for the ability to edit online in the field with phone and then on desktop for more detailed infomation.
