Their support is terrible, often you get multiple follow up emails from different people who don't, won't read the notes of the last person and in order to kick the ticket along will send you steps you've already tried and shown to not resolve the issue. When you do finally close the issue, you get constant emails asking if they can close the ticket. Their departments do not talk to one another which leads to confusion all round and a ticket that never seems to close and then constant requests for surveys on how they did over and over even if you complete one. The product's major strength is its ease of control and breadth of protection across many tiers, allow us to achieve robust protection at all times. Pros 1\. Having user authentication capabilities, including LDAP connectivity and multi-factor authentication, without the requirement for additional licensing, is a plus. 2. The ZTNA feature that was just implemented is fantastic to have without the need to setup any more gateways. 3. SD-WAN routing capabilities allow us properly use the available gateways utilizing multiple Service Level Agreements. Cons 1.The firewall should have a third-party threat telemetry feature for ingesting threat data such as SHA values. 2.Reporting should be more granular and configurable. 3.The OEM should provide a specialized on-premise reporting device to meet the needs of air gap network reporting/logging for an extended length of time. Pros Some nice changes in version 19 compared to previous versions makes it alot easier to use and manage - sophos central has improved a ton for management. Cons HA failover can be a little slow in certain scenarios, local DNS server options are non existent and support is alot better through resellers.The onboard Wireless controller is really lacking options compared to managing them through Sophos Central Reasons for choosing XG Firewall We've been running Sophos UTM's for years and it was a natural upgrade path, doing the first few migrations with our VAR were very smooth along with the knowledge transfer to do the rest. Sophos Firewall then drops the computer off the machine until the virus has been dealt with so it can't infect the entire system. Pros The layout is user-friendly, the tabs are very easy to follow to get to where you want to go. Cons if you're not used to firewalls it can be a bit confusing.
