It is also free to create an account in SafeShare.tv. Lastly, it has an intuitive user interface that is user-friendly. It is the best program to get off those many disturbing ads on youtube and other sites. I highly recommend it. Pros It is simple and easy to use. It gets rid of unwanted ads thereby for safe viewing. easy to download videos without being disturbed by ads and other distractions. It is absolutely free to sign up with SafeShare.tv. you can edit youtube videos safely and share it with your peers without advertisements. Cons It sometimes hides the videos that are appropriate and thus you might end up not viewing the videos and ads you intended to view. I love how SafeShare protects me from accidentally showing inappropriate videos that can pop up on YouTube or other video sourcing apps. Pros I like the ease of use this software provides. I teach K-5 General music. I embed a lot videos for my classes. SafeShare allows me to not worry about unexpected pop up adds or sponsored videos in the middle of an example I’m using. It has gotten more clunky over the last few years, but it can still be counted on to get the job done, especially if you are willing to pay for the premium subscription. Pros SafeShare.tv is a simple, quick way of cleaning up videos. What I like most about it is that I can snag a YouTube link, drop it into SafeShare, quickly select the custom start and end times for the video, then post the link for my students, all while avoiding any ads or pop ups. There is a free version that allows for about ten saved videos, but these can easily be deleted and changed out when needed. Cons SafeShare.tv can be a little clunky at times. There have been instances in which I've tried to upload a video and it just fails repeatedly with no explanation. With the inclusion of the premium account (like with anything else), using the free account has gotten more restricted and cumbersome. If you are willing to invest in a full subscription, it is really a nice product. Otherwise, with the free account it is a usable, relatively-reliable product. Review Source ivana R. We use it regularly and the feedback has been positive. Pros SafeShare.tv is the solution that we were looking for when it came to allowing teachers to continue to use YouTube videos within their lessons. We had complaints about distractions, both from students and parents, and SafeShare allowed us to minimize these distractions in a student and teacher friendly view. The SafeShare tool is extremely easy to use and has become our go-to for preventing unnecessary content from displaying within lessons. It also allows video sharing that is permitted through the school filters (YouTube is blocked in many schools). Pros I love that SafeShare allows teachers to show videos without worrying about unwanted ads. It is also useful to be able to clip a video to show only a desired portion. It is an easy way to share videos with students while helping to limit unwanted ad distractions. Cons SafeShare recently limited the number of SafeShares that you are allowed with the free version. I used to use SafeShare everytime I wanted to show a video, but now it is limited. We us it almost daily to watch YouTube videos that are ad free. Sometimes the ads on YouTube are distracting or inappropriate for 1st graders and this allows my class to view videos that enhance our learning and keeps us engaged and connected to the material we are learning. My school does pay the annual subscription so that I can make unlimited safeshare links for my online planbook each school year. This is especially helpful when trying to use learning videos, read aloud storybooks or other online material with students. I simply attached the safeshare link directly into my content. I don't have to worry about inappropriate commercials/ads showing up in the middle of my young students viewing learning materials. Pros SafeShare.tv allows users (great for teachers) to remove the annoying ads that pop up during computer use when viewing media content online. It makes safe viewing so easy - it converts a media link to a safeshare.tv link (no ads) that can be quickly saved then shared. It stores the media links on the dashboard for future usage. Cons Safeshare.tv could do a better job with cataloging all the video links that are saved on the dashboard. I would like to see them offer "folders" or other organizational tools to "file" all of the videos/learning links that I've accumulated over time. Users need to be able to create/edit this "folders" (e.g for teachers math, science, reading). For parents (e.g. how to videos, storybooks, recipe links). I also love now all of my shares are archived within my account for easy accessibility. I teach art and I have little to no time between classes so this software is incredible at helping keep links organized and ready to go without any worry! Cons I wish I could have a teacher platinum pass and have unlimited shares to log and archive within my account. I’m constantly playing “eenie-meenie-miney-mo’ “ when giving an older or less relevant video the boot to simply upload and save a current one. It’s hard to limit my shares to 20 or less when I teach grade levels k-5 and almost 700 kids a week. There are just too many quality and impactful clips to help amplify my lesson project not to share! Unfortunately, most of these video stem from a 3rd party website like dailymotion, youtube, or vimeo that contain ads, and sidebar links that can distract students from the video. I found safeshare.tv last year through my IT department and was HOOKED! You simply copy and paste the link into safeshare and they generate a screen of just the video you want...NO ADS, NO DISTRACTING SIDEBARS!!!! It has helped my students and learning objectives stay on point. They also can save your video links in your convenient channel so you can view them EASILY the next day. If you're tired of hearing, "Can we watch that video next?" then get safeshare.tv TODAY!!!! Cons They will only let you save a limited number of links :( But, it's around 20! Pros I loved that it allowed me to safely share YouTube videos with my 3rd graders. I never had to worry about inappropriate and/or distracting ads popping up when I was trying to teach. I also liked that I could save them for later use (there were some videos that I needed daily). I liked being able to edit the length of the video before I uploaded it. I could set it to start & stop exactly where I wanted. This was a nice feature because many YouTube begin & end with a lot of talking that is irrelevant to my instruction. Cons The only thing I didn’t like was there was a limit to the amount of videos I could keep saved. As previously mentioned, there were some videos I needed daily. We curate and vet free and open educational resources (OERS) for teachers, students, and families so it is important that only the video we are sharing appears and not all of the options generally showing on a youtube link. Cons It is a little clunky to use. Could be fewer steps to getting to the option to copy the link. Reason for choosing SafeShare.tv We started using safeshare back in its early days when it was free. I also appreciate that students can't see the other available videos that show up when choosing the right one. Creating SafeShares is quuck and easy as well. The ability to create playlists has saved me tons of time, and is the main reason I pay for the subscription. Cons The cost is a bit high. Pros SafeShare.tv enables my elementary students to view videos I select in a safe environment. I also love that it’s intuitive for educators to use and it’s compatible with Seesaw. Cons I guess the only downfall would be the free version has very limited space to store videos for future reference. I wish educators could get more space to save their videos.
