It is also free to create an account in SafeShare.tv. Lastly, it has an intuitive user interface that is user-friendly. It is the best program to get off those many disturbing ads on youtube and other sites. I highly recommend it. Pros It is simple and easy to use. It gets rid of unwanted ads thereby for safe viewing. easy to download videos without being disturbed by ads and other distractions. It is absolutely free to sign up with SafeShare.tv. you can edit youtube videos safely and share it with your peers without advertisements. Cons It sometimes hides the videos that are appropriate and thus you might end up not viewing the videos and ads you intended to view. It has gotten more clunky over the last few years, but it can still be counted on to get the job done, especially if you are willing to pay for the premium subscription. Pros SafeShare.tv is a simple, quick way of cleaning up videos. What I like most about it is that I can snag a YouTube link, drop it into SafeShare, quickly select the custom start and end times for the video, then post the link for my students, all while avoiding any ads or pop ups. There is a free version that allows for about ten saved videos, but these can easily be deleted and changed out when needed. Cons SafeShare.tv can be a little clunky at times. There have been instances in which I've tried to upload a video and it just fails repeatedly with no explanation. With the inclusion of the premium account (like with anything else), using the free account has gotten more restricted and cumbersome. I love how SafeShare protects me from accidentally showing inappropriate videos that can pop up on YouTube or other video sourcing apps. Pros I like the ease of use this software provides. I teach K-5 General music. I embed a lot videos for my classes. SafeShare allows me to not worry about unexpected pop up adds or sponsored videos in the middle of an example I’m using. It also allows video sharing that is permitted through the school filters (YouTube is blocked in many schools). Pros I love that SafeShare allows teachers to show videos without worrying about unwanted ads. It is also useful to be able to clip a video to show only a desired portion. It is an easy way to share videos with students while helping to limit unwanted ad distractions. Cons SafeShare recently limited the number of SafeShares that you are allowed with the free version. I used to use SafeShare everytime I wanted to show a video, but now it is limited. We use it regularly and the feedback has been positive. Pros SafeShare.tv is the solution that we were looking for when it came to allowing teachers to continue to use YouTube videos within their lessons. We had complaints about distractions, both from students and parents, and SafeShare allowed us to minimize these distractions in a student and teacher friendly view. The SafeShare tool is extremely easy to use and has become our go-to for preventing unnecessary content from displaying within lessons. My fear is that each year the price will go up. If that happens, then at some point I will have to stop using this site, and find one that is more affordable. Pros What I like most about the Safe Share site is the ease I have at downloading any video I need for my Religion Classes. I am a Catholic School Teacher of 3rd Graders. I begin each of Religion classes with Christian Music Video. But I also download clips from Religion Movies that correspond with my Religion Lesson. Once I have downloaded the video I have easy access to import these videos in each of my Religion lessons. I don't have to worry about the students seeing inappropriate content. By downloading these ahead of time I don't risk that ever happening. Cons I don't like that fact that I have to pay for this service. As a Catholic School Teacher I pay for this site out of my own pocket, because I don't work for a school that has money to spend to things like this. National Standards for music require teaching the Star Spangled Banner, I am able to share the version that I like through safeshare with the media dept. I personally I like a sign language interpretation. I have had other teachers want to use it in class as part of a lesson, easy share. Pros \-share videos for lessons to my students without embarrassing and inappropriate material. -save the SafeShare links in .pptx's smartboard, and use them year after year -quality will be exactly like the original link imported -you can share your link with other teachers working in teams i.e. I share safeshare links with our school media room to share on announcements to reinforce school-wide concepts. The playlist option makes it easy for educators to build playlist based on content and easy to organize them. Pros I use SafeShare.tv on a daily basis in my classroom to ensure that no inappropriate ads or videos pop up. While Youtube has a plethora of great videos and resources, I do not trust that it will keep inappropriate content from popping up. It is very easy to copy and paste a link into Safeshare.tv. You can create playlist and circles to share with other contacts. Cons There is a free subscription but it's limited to making two playlists and 20 safeview videos. The cost is less than $5.00 per month to access the premium plans, however, there are other free resources that can be used daily with no limit. YouTube is full of videos that feature people reading to children. So many children do not have books in their homes or are just not read to in the home environment. Pros Removal of ads during viewing in the educational setting. Cons I am uncertain of a few things that I would like to be aware of and have questions about. 1. Are my QR codes still viewable by others if I stop my subscription? 2. Many Youtube video creators make money from their ads. Teachers have a high ethical and moral line they don't like to cross. When using Safeshare, how does that affect the video creators when we remove the ads through Safeshare? Are we cheating them out of what is rightfully theirs? 3. Do end users have to have an account to view the QR codes or does the QR creator only have to have the account to create the QR code? Hope that makes sense. Then back to question 1. What happens if at some point my subscription stops? Do my QR codes stop working? Reason for choosing SafeShare.tv I had already been using it and many of my QR codes were made with SafeShare. It has changed my teaching style to be more in touch with my students. Pros I would organize my daily links for classroom viewing. For each class, I would play, pause, discuss in the same fluid way with no fumbling for links to pull up and work, and the assurance that there would be no commercial interruptions. Plus the freedom to use a portion of the video and not the whole thing was marvelous! Cons If I wanted the same link to play at the beginning of the lesson and at the end of the lesson, I would have to create two safeshares instead of being able to use it twice. That was the biggest problem when I was editing the safeshare down to a certain clip. I used it in my classroom often. It saved me from the paranoia of my students hearing something unnecessary in my classroom. Often times commercials aren't inappropriate but shift the focus from what I want the video to be about to the commercials that they see and hear. Also it saves the time from having to look for the video because I have already loaded it and I can use it again and again for different classes. Pros I don't have to worry about my students seeing or hearing advertisements in videos that I want to use and share that are coming from the internet. I teach elementary school and it saves me feel like I am providing a safe classroom. Cons I wish I had more safeshares available. I did not like the most recent changes that were made I thought it was more difficult to navigate and it took me more time to load the videos I wanted to use. Also I had to delete videos that I had already used to make way for new ones. I often use the same videos from year to year and forget what version of something I liked or where to find it. The peace of mind it affords me is amazing. Pros Safe Share is a must for every classroom. Particularly, younger classrooms. As a teacher, I want to be able to play engaging \*short\* clips and videos to get my class engaged and excited about the content. I do not, however, want to have to worry about the ads that may pop up when I press play. Safeshare makes it possible to not have to worry! No ads, and safe viewing! A win! Cons Unfortunately, there is a cap as to how many 'safe videos' you can have saved to your account. However, I didn't use this feature often enough for it to be a big issue. Best decision was when I cancelled & stopped using QR codes!! Pros I enjoyed creating codes when there wasn’t a membership. I wasted my money paying for my codes when they ALL stopped working. I really liked cancelling this service that didn’t work. Cons I had to update over 500 codes when SafeShare changed their site. Even when I did ALL the updates the codes were still not working & I continued to have multiple problems scanning them. I finally had to get rid of all of them. When it was free to create codes it was easy and user friendly. I wish I never created QR codes on this site. I Would never recommend SafeShare to anyone in education. Using YouTube for my classroom came with a lot of difficulties because inappropriate ads would pop up and caused disruption in the classroom and now I don’t have to worry about that. Even when I verify a video is safe, students at times unintentionally (or not) navigate away from the original video and could be exposed to unapproved content. SafeShare helps prevent this. Cons Unfortunately, SafeShare does tend to act a little wonky on older iPad gens as well as our Promethean ActivPanel (android iOS), but it’s not enough to rate SafeShare any less than 5 stars. The overall experience with SafeShare is awesome because it gives me a peace of mind in my classroom that my students are safely watching what I have shared with them. A huge thank you for that. I teach second graders so SafeShare is my go to when I have a video for them to view. Pros I rate SafeShare high because it is worth having a peace of mind in the classroom that all those unappropriate videos won't pop up while my students are viewing what I want them to watch. I can also link a video that I have uploaded to SafeShare into Seesaw app and my students can watch it very easily. I know that when I use SafeShare, my students can view videos independently while I am working with other students, and I don't have to worry about them clicking on other videos. I love having it and tell all of my fellow teachers about it! Pros I used SafeShare to pre-load many videos that were used in my classroom. This helped me to filter out anything that would cause my students to lose focus or be exposed to things that they should not be. I loved being able to have it ready which allowed me to make sure my technology would run more smoothly. Cons I would say, the only con would be the amount of uploads you could have at once.
