Wish there was more videos that teachers could save in the free version - OR perhaps safeshare could offer the full version for free for educators like many other software apps do. Pros It’s soooo easy to use and I love it that my students don’t see the next junky videos on YouTube that may pop up. Show it once, it stops there and is easy to find and play again! Cons I used the free version because of lack of school funds so was very limited on how many I could save safeshare links. I’d have to delete a video to add a new one. Vicious cycle. Recently, my Safeshare video thumbnails are all black and don’t show the actual pictures of the video. Some of my saved videos also don’t work for some reason. Other teachers in my school have had this problem as have teachers from other schools. Pros Because our school doesn’t allow YouTube, Safeshare is the most effective platform for me to be able to share videos with my class. I love that I can simply copy and paste the YouTube link into the bar. I also love that I can trim the videos exactly how I want them - I often get rid of the intros and outros on videos. Cons It’s a shame that the free version only allows 20 videos. I’ve had to delete some videos multiple times to be able to fit new videos on, when I’d like to be able to keep more available to me. September 23, 2020 5.0 Overall, I have had a great experience with this program/website. As a teacher, I love being able to have a way to send YouTube videos home to students or share YouTube videos in class in a safe way. Pros I love how easy this is to use! You just copy/paste the YouTube link into this website and get a link to share with students that takes away ads/distractions. This allows teachers to safely share links with students to have them watch YouTube videos. Cons There is not anything that I dislike about this software. It has been great for me so far. It is a great website for anyone working with children that want to safely view videos without the fear of an expected inappropriate ad. There are so many incredible videos available online, as supplemental material when teaching a lesson on any topic, but ads these days are not always child friendly. I like to be able to safely show my video without the worry. Thank you SafeShare.tv! Pros I love that I do not need to worry when I present a video to my first graders that inappropriate material might pop up unexpectedly. Cons What I liked least was that I ran out of room for my saved videos very quickly on my free trial. Having the SafeShare filter the video with no ads or pop ups gives a sense of security for me knowing little eyes are on the computer. Information on the internet is valuable and I know the Lord uses all things for His glory so having access to experts in differing fields deepens the content of the subjects I teach. Thank you for protecting the eyes, ears, and minds of the users. Cons I am unsure if this is a complaint because it may be user error, but I would like to have certain website pages filtered when viewing in the classroom or at home. I'm not sure if that is available and I am just not savvy enough to know how to use that feature or if it exists??? However, if that is a possibility, I would love to see that happen. February 7, 2020 5.0 I feel very comfortable with how Safeshare is very careful about content being appropriate— even for a first grade classroom. If I had little ones still at home I would most certainly had this on all devices. Pros I love being able to know with total certainty that the videos I a showing with have appropriate content for my young students. I use it also when I send home links for my parents to use. Cons sometimes my school district will ban some of the content safeshare gives me and my students can’t access it as soon as I’d like. It took me a number of video conversions to realize that I didn't have to exit the page and restart to do another video. There was a way to close the video conversion page to take you back to the home page. I use this site everyday to convert videos for my 1st grade students. I have recommended it to my colleagues as well. It is useful for "brain break" stretches and dances as well as for videos of authors reading their books and informative videos. SafeShare.tv is my favorite tech tip to share with colleagues. Pros I love how easy it is to curate a list of videos for use in my classroom, but the BEST part is the removal of advertisements from YouTube videos. This would get rid of the distractions inherent in YouTube, ie suggested video links and advertising. I could also start a clip at a certain time, which was helpful to get straight to the point of a video. Pros I used this program because of the ability to copy a YouTube link and watch the video without ads before or during or around the video. Information Technology Teacher Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "SafeShare.tv Makes Videos Safe to Share" June 24, 2019 4.0 The reason why we use and I recommend Safeshare is that in a K-4 school, we like the flexibility and vast library of videos on YouTube, but never want to take the risk of anything offensive for the kids. It also lets me do some minor editing which lets me pick and choose what to save and show the kids. I've been using it for at least 8-9 years. Pros Easy to use. New Dashboard makes things easier to find. Strips all next videos and any ads from YouTube videos. Cons Seemed like there might be a limit for the free site of the amount of videos you can store. YouTube provides a bountiful library of great videos for education but without SafeShare the use of those videos would be too risky. Pros As a teacher I greatly appreciate no ads & no other video suggestions or auto-playing successive videos. I also like the option for start the video at any point - that's awesome. Cons There started to be too many buttons to click or boxes to check... I liked it better when the format/layout was simpler and less complex. But that's just my preference.
