Pros I love using this software to share YouTube videos with my young students. It omits the ads that can sometimes not be appropriate. Cons It is easy to use and has not created any issues for me. SafeShare.tv provides a method of limited such adverse content. You can also trim the beginning and end of clips which is great if you need to target a particular part of a longer video. July 1, 2019 5.0 As a classroom teacher I often avoided using video clips during my lessons because I hated dealing with the string of ads on the side of the videos or the commercial that would play before a video started. With SafeShare I am able to play video clips without the hassle or worry of what ads and commercials my students would be exposed to. Pros SafeShare is a great tool that allows me peace of mind when playing video clips during my lessons. It allows me to safely play clips imported from other sites like YouTube without having to worry about commercials and ad banners interrupting. And videos converted into SafeShare are collected all in one place which makes them easy to find. They are also easy to link to class websites and documents. Pros Once I convert my videos from YouTube to SafeShare.TV, I don't have to worry about my students getting pop up ads, inappropriate language in video comments, or other related videos on the side menu that may be inappropriate for their age. Cons I teach health education, including reproduction, and there were several occasions where my SafeShare videos were deleted for inappropriate content that was actually appropriate for my subject matter and grade level. Pros I love being able to isolate online videos and protect my students from inappropriate ads or other videos that may pop up. You can link to the safeshare video in PowerPoint and Google Slideshows. Cons The number of videos you can create as a free user is limited. I eventually ran out of videos and stopped using the service because I got tired of having to delete previous videos in order to generate new ones. Review Source AL April L. Not only can these pop-ups be inappropriate, they can also shift the mindset of the learner. Working with Kindergartners, it is not always easy to redirect your students after they have witnessed something inappropriate. SafeShare.TV has and continues to allow me to confidently share resources with my students without the fear of inappropriate pop-ups and commercials. SafeShare.TV ensures visual safety for all. I constantly use SafeShare.tv to upload videos without having to worry that there will be an inappropriate advertisement pop up before the video. I also love that I can save the videos to my dashboard for future use. If a video can’t be uploaded to SafeShare, I won’t use it because I trust that the software is safe to use with my students. Pros I love that I can upload videos that I want to share with my elementary class without worrying that there will be an inappropriate advertisement that pops up before the video! Cons There isn’t anything I can think of that I don’t like. Safeshare is good for cropping videos and taking out the ads. The filter has made it much less useful this year. Pros \-easy to edit videos -ability to make playlists -easy to visually identify videos -videos work well for students Cons \-Could be easier to organize the videos -New filter flags videos for inappropriate content incorrectly and makes it extremely difficult to use. Before the filter was set up, this was an excellent way to make videos for my class, but this year with the new filter was consistently frustrating. My favorite part is the ability to edit a video; showing only the most important part(s). I use it everyday in my classroom without hesitation. It has been very useful when trying to find ways to personalize learning for my students. If I found a video that helped explain a math concept in a different way, I could share it with my students so they could work on that content at their speed while I meet with small groups. Knowing that the link I provided to my students was free of distracting content helped me focus on my small group. I also LOVE the fact that the videos are saved in my library and that I can easily share the links on Google Classroom with my class and colleagues. Cons Since I only used the free version, I was not able to save as many videos to my library or explore the other options the software has. I am very pleased with it and plan on using it again this upcoming school year. Pros I love the fact that I do not worry about what ads pop up. I teach children and we have to be cautious about what is shown. This software eliminates that worry. Cons I do not like how long it takes to get a video up and ready for use. Finding the best clips is time-consuming and having an easy way to download them just speeds up the process. I have watched colleagues skip the download step and end up with inappropriate, embarrassing ads or pop-ups when a few more minutes with safeshare.tv eliminates all of that. The ability to edit and share is also a huge benefit as clips can be used as assignments and shared with colleagues. Pros I love how easy it is to download YouTube videos into a format I can use in my elementary music class with no worries about inappropriate ads or pop ups. As a music teacher the easy edit feature makes zeroing in on the instruments or music excerpt I want also perfect for the classroom. Cons Sometimes the auto-play in the download process would get annoying as I would end up with two excerpts playing at once. It was an easy fix to just press stop but still another click to remember. Especially when it became a paid premium service, it’s nice to see my money going into improvements for the service. Cons At times, there are some difficulties with sorting safe shares that have already been created. There is a search function that is helpful, but more sorting options would be amazing. Cons I do not like that students can STILL go to the youtube link within the video you post. Therefore, it's worthless to purchase unless you want a place to organize your videos, even ones you can't "save" on youtube but not good that kids can still link to the original. I also had my church move to SafeShare for the videos that they use on Sundays to ensure that we also do not have questionable commercials appear prior to the video. Pros I like the ability to share artist videos from YouTube without have questionable commercials preview before the actual video. Saves embarrassment with high school students. Cons As a high school music teacher there are times I want to use a song by an artist that SafeShare deems unable to share. I dealt with that in using Lady Gaga's Superbowl performance of the National Anthem, her performance of the Sound of Music at the Oscars, and her performance with Tony Bennett at the Grammy's.
