Opus

## What is Opus?

Opus is a robust behavioral health software built for treatment facilities and group practices of 5+ clinicians. By unifying CRM, EHR, and RCM into one platform, Opus eliminates the operational complexity of scaling — from multi-provider scheduling and documentation to facility-wide claims processing. The EHR features AI-powered Copilot for generating progress notes in-person and via telehealth, customizable workflows, and real-time insights across your provider team. The CRM automates patient tracking, census management, and referral pipelines at scale. Opus handles the administrative weight of growing organizations: insurance verification, e-prescribing, lab integration, outcomes measurement, and claims processing for UB-04 and CMS-1500 forms. Scheduling, telehealth, and video conferencing are fully integrated. Opus is the operational backbone for behavioral health organizations ready to grow.

The company and platform have been very cooperative and are usually very quick to resolve any issues or concerns as well as add features that are requested.

Pros

Very easy to use and somewhat intuitive once you have a general idea of what is going on. Very straightforward and power user friendly

Cons

It can be frustrating for a new user to explore some aspects of you’ve never used a medical crm but once you’ve got the hang of it it’s fairly straightforward.

My overall experience with Opus has been a great one. Everyone that I have met and had Zoom meetings with has been so helpful!

Pros

The ease of use is what I like most about Opus. It's very easy to navigate through the different tabs with great understanding. Also, having customer support is a huge bonus that most companies do not provide.

Cons

As of right now, there is nothing that I can saw negative about using Opus. I'm sure moving forward anything that I have an issue with can be worked out through customer support :)

Our overall experience with Opus has been very positive. Their team has been responsive, communicative, and flexible throughout the transition process, and they have taken the time to understand our agency, our staff, and the clients we serve. It is clear that Opus has strong knowledge of behavioral health operations, which sets it apart from EHRs that are primarily designed for medical settings and later adapted for behavioral health use.

Pros

Our experience with Opus so far has been very positive. Their customer support and service have been excellent; they are communicative, flexible, and genuinely interested in understanding our agency, staff, and clients. One of the strongest aspects of Opus is their clear knowledge of behavioral health. Many EHRs appear to be designed primarily for medical settings and then adapted for behavioral health, but Opus feels built with behavioral health programs in mind from the ground up. We have also appreciated Opus’s willingness to adapt their platform to the unique conditions of working in Alaska, particularly their openness to integrating with State of Alaska systems in ways that may reduce duplicate data entry and improve efficiency. From the \[sensitive content hidden\] on down, the team genuinely seems to care about the user experience. They are open to feedback, responsive to agency needs, and willing to go the extra mile. The user interface is easy to navigate, and the workflows and systems Opus has designed appear to promote efficiency, practicality, compliance, and improved data capture and reporting. Overall, our early experience has been that Opus is not just providing a software product, but working as a collaborative partner in helping us strengthen our behavioral health operations.

Cons

At this stage, we do not have any significant cons to report. We are still in the integration and implementation process, so we recognize that additional questions, workflow adjustments, or unexpected challenges may come up as we move deeper into configuration, training, and go-live preparation. However, our experience so far gives us confidence that Opus will be responsive and collaborative if issues arise. Their team has already demonstrated strong communication, flexibility, and a willingness to understand the specific needs of our agency. While no EHR transition is without some complexity, we feel well supported and confident in Opus’s ability to help us work through any challenges constructively.

Switched from

[TherapyNotes, LLC](https://www.capterra.com/p/118981/TherapyNotes-com/)

We transitioned from TherapyNotes because our agency needed an EHR platform that was more closely aligned with the operational, compliance, reporting, and workflow needs of a behavioral health organization. TherapyNotes served an important role for us, but as our programs continued to grow and our needs became more complex, we needed a system that could better support behavioral health-specific workflows, data capture, reporting, and integration with external systems. Opus appeared to be a better fit for where our agency is headed. In particular, we were looking for a platform that could support efficiency, compliance, and improved coordination across our behavioral health services while also reducing unnecessary duplicate data entry where possible. Opus’s willingness to understand our agency, adapt to Alaska-specific requirements, and explore integration with State of Alaska systems were major factors in our decision.

Great. The team is pleasant to work with, incredibly organized with scheduling meetings for our 90 day implementation period, and the system offers so much that our previous EHRs have not.

Pros

We are still in the process of building out our system, but the customer support has been wonderful. The Opus team is quick to respond and is eager to work with us to customize our system to fit exactly what we need. I'm excited for implementation! The reporting abilities and "badge" functions in Opus are going to be extremely beneficial for our practice.

Cons

Nothing at this time! I appreciate the team's responsiveness and willingness to be flexible with our schedules as well.

TherapyNotes had great financial reporting features and was user-friendly, however as it's mainly built for private practices, there are not a lot of other reporting features that are critical for our agency's grants, contracts, CARF, and internal reporting.

Overall experience with Opus has been a 10 out of 10. I'd recommend this EHR to any of my friends in the field. The customer support is super responsive. The onboarding team has been very helpful to make sure my team was set up for success prior to launch day.

Pros

My team has enjoyed the ease of use, live and responsive customer support and the thorough onboarding process.

Cons

The report pulls still need to be worked on. Also, there have been a few kinks in mirroring EHR and RCM that have slowed workflow a bit.

Overall, my experience with OPUS has been positive. The system provides a centralized platform for managing client records, documentation, scheduling, and reporting, which helps maintain organization and compliance. While there are some areas where navigation and workflow efficiency could be improved, OPUS has been a valuable tool for supporting daily operations and ensuring accurate record keeping.

Pros

What I liked most about OPUS was its user-friendly design and ability to keep client information, documentation, scheduling, and reporting in one place. The system helped improve organization, reduced paperwork, and made it easier to access client records and track services. I also appreciated how it supported compliance requirements and streamlined day-to-day workflow.

Cons

What I liked least about OPUS was that some tasks required multiple steps and screens to complete, which could be time-consuming. At times, navigating between modules felt less intuitive than expected.

Our overall experience has been good. I was worried about the transition when we first began but our support team has listened and tried to accommodate all of our needs with ease.

Pros

I like the user-friendly layout of the system. They try to listen to concerns, and you can see that implemented feedback.

Cons

Some of the issues we had were with the automation. Our billing traditions do not allow as many automations as we've had in the past.

I am pleased with Opus. They are always looking for new ways to solve issues and always willing to lesson to feedback

Pros

The staff is receptive and truly wants to help you with your challenges, and the program is intuitive.

Cons

I can not say there is really anything, as with any EHR/EMR there are things I wish where different, however not every part of the program can be exactly everything the program needs, you just have to adjust your work flow

Overall, my experience with OPUS has been positive. I like that it is simple to use, customizable for our program needs, and makes it easy to pull reports and track important metrics. While there are areas that could improve, especially mobile use and workflow prompts, it has been a helpful system for managing client information and reporting.

Pros

I like that OPUS allows us to customize forms to fit our programs, pull the metrics we need, run reports easily, and keep the system simple enough for daily use.

Cons

Mobile use is difficult and not very user-friendly. I would also like to see stronger workflow options, including pop-up reminders or prompts to help guide staff through required steps.
