Most importantly it is free. Postman saves my time a lot. Pros I can create postman requests for APIs and test them. I can add headers, parameters, request bodies and this supports different API formats such as REST and SOAP. Usually I use REST API testing and once I test them, I copy the curl and send it to others or I export the collection and send if I have multiple APIs. I must say this is very organizable tool where I can create collections and inside I can create folders and save data and later I can search them easily. Cons I have been using postman for 6 years now and I haven't experience any issue. It's easier to build apps and APIs on Postman first and then to our websites and apps using code snippet generator. Pros I like the fact that everything is synced with my account to all my devices and it's compatible with all Operating Systems. The fact that I can import collections of featured services for testing (e.g. Zoho which we use heavily for our services) is very cool. I like Code snippet generator which helps me generating curl requests for different kind of projects. The API Documentation creator is saving us a lot of time when creating custom tools for services we provide to affiliates. Cons If there's one thing I can ask for is better tab management. Postman's creating and publishing API documentation feature makes it easier to pass my API schema to the consumers. After using it for 2 years I can recommend this app to another fellow developer. Cons Some features that I would like in postman is the ability to add more team members. I mostly use postman's free version as its pricing line up is not cheaper. Its pricing is a bit competitive compared to its free competitors. Also it would be nice if I could test my published API from the web directly instead of coming back to Postman to test. A must have for a web developer Pros As a software developer with many low code integrations, it is quite difficult for me to test isolated connections with different APIs. Althought there are many tools that do the same, Postman brings many features for the free version. It is very intuitive and does many things for you out of the box. Therefore, it is very useful for quick testing or simply as a playground for API discovery. It is very versatile for many authentication and protocol scenarios. And also a good way to organize your projects. Cons Maybe not an important thing, but is confusing have the chrome extension and the desktop version. Sometimes the default values does not follow the most reasonable logic, and get values from request and not the last one, or take the last one from a different workspace project. I use the desktop free version and even though it has limited features, they are enough for me to proceed with developer testing. I create collections and can create requests inside. I can keep everything in clean in organized manner. Once I completed the developer testing I share or export and send the same collection to the QA engineer. For automation we used Java ( jive) code. For this pupose I can say that Postman is a very good solution. But I would like to see complex examples ( like a whole regression Suite) using postman and having TCs in cycles every 24 hours. Also I'd like to see good code examples so troubleshoot would be easier when I have failing TCs, Pros Easiness to use, sometimes I have tests that works only on Postman ( and not in SOAP UI for example) , possibility to automate test suing scripts, possibility to export and use variables on tests. This tool is similar to another ones but the difference is the number of people using it and some doubts can be quickly solved by googling it. It is easy and quick to automate test cases and create a Test Suite Cons Sometimes not so easy to find the solution for your "problem" and need to search on communities. They would provide a better help and manuals with examples and links on how to build the test case. It is common that I find the answer outside the site from Postman and not on the official one. Indeed, each request is enveloped with the API properties such as url, port, method type, parameters and so on. Moreover, it is possible using postman to validate programmatically the API responses. For example, we can write a script to check the schema of the response. Cons Rest APIs do not have graphical interfaces, which complicates the examination of their proper functioning. It also helps the communication lines between the front-end or mobile-app team and the API team, since we can all see exactly what datapoints are included in each endpoint and communicate with the back-end team to request changes. Pros It's a pain to design APIs without Postman. We can't go back--having all endpoints well-documented with the ability to switch between environments (local, staging, and production) with different permissions in each has saved us a ton of time. It has boosted my productivity compared to when I was testing with CURL/command line/in-app with print statements. It's easy to use, and it works. Cons It has been a little 'buggy' (nothing that can't be fixed with a quick restart), but I'm sure these will be fixed in the near future. You can even set environment variables if the url changes and configure requests to be run one after the other and set access tokens to be fetched from requests. Overall, Postman is a great tool that has put a lot of thought on how to make API testing as easy as possible for the users Pros Postman is very easy to use with a simple interface. My favorite feature is the fact that you can organize api calls to collections. This feature comes in handy as you can save requests of different systems and keep them organized into collections. Another feature that I am a big fan of is that you can share a collection that can be imported, so you can team members don't have to create the requests separately. This also could act as a sort of documentation as everyone would be able to easily see what requests are there and how they can be used, what parameters they require, etc. Cons The web version has limited functionalities which did not exist back then. We are also using running collections with iterations and adjustable delays between the requests are perfect for our use cases. We have bought Postman Team for our products and imported our AWS API Gateway endpoints and configured them easily. Cons Setting environment variables are sometimes confusing and one should be careful if the env variable was saved correctly. La visualizzazione dei dati in vari formati inoltre aiuta molto (ad esempio formattando il json di una response). Altra cosa fondamentale è salvare le chiamate su più tab così da non doverle riscrivere ogni volta e lo storico delle chiamate! Cons giusto per trovare il pelo nell'uovo: l'inserimento degli headers potrebbe essere gestito meglio, a volte l'intellisense è un po' lento.
