I would like to see another feature where it allows us to publish a single or multiple requests to a team workspace, where we do not have to create the same API endpoint in the team workspace. Pros Postman is a tool that most developers/QA personal use for their day-to-day work. It provides all the main features that we expect for testing APIs. And the cool thing is it just not stops there. It gives you the ability to host APIs, create clean documentations, publish/import/export APIs and environments which are very useful features. And there are plenty of other features that I'm not using. Cons Before version 8, it used to be very user-friendly, but now it seems a bit complicated even for the ones who used the product. Pros We have been using Postman for API testing for long time now. Generally we work on RESTful APIs and testing with Postman, never had any complaints after actually deploying them. Postman creates an environment setup by us as required and we can add various test cases and all the detailed reports are stored and can be analysed to check if it works in a manner we wanted. Used in QA department for long time and best thing is you can integrate with other popular tools and you can also replicate those test cases with same environment, even for the test cases whose results are to be used as input to next test cases. This allows different teams to work simultaneously like on the front-back ends together. Cons Starting the Postman gives enough load on the PC and you need to wait for a while but that is not the serious issue. What seems to be problem is new users find it difficult. Even if there are lots of tutorials available, user need to have specific set of technical skills to work with Postman. Once they know it, QA is way easier than older methods. It helps to divide the API in various parts like heads, body, authentication etc. and it also supports body in various formats. It allows to create, import and share curl as well. It also maintains history, creates different collections and set up mock environment. Pros API collection can be easily made in postman. That collection can be shared with anybody be it UI developer, backend developer or tester. It has made development and testing really easy. Just create a collection. Add the required variables with replacers and click run. The testing which usually takes half an hour to 30 min can be completely run in 30 sec by using the postman collection. Infact it also helps to test the multithreading in the API Cons It is not smart enough to differentiate between base urls. If there are multiple tabs opened with same API call but different base url, then during closing even if we save 1 api call then it will again ask to save for another api call. It happens to me sometimes that the code I wrote doesn't work even if everything is correct. Don't know what magic is done by Postman code, everything starts working once I copy-paste that code. Though it provides more components to fit your more technical needs, this is not very overwhelming so even beginners will not be intimidated to use it. 4. The request of the APIs can be easily formed in postman. Pros Postman can be used to easily connect with APIs and check their request and response. The API request body can be easily provided in postman along with various authorization and header information for connecting to the API. There are separate tabs in Postman for easily forming the request body of the API. Also, the group of API request and responses can be easily exported and imported as Collections to other systems and these API request response can be tested for multiple combination of data. Cons Postman tool can be complicated for the new users. Postman is not suitable for API automation. Also, postman is suited for Rest APIs but not Soap APIs. It was also way easier to bring co-workers up to speed when they joined the team since you could just share a collection and they'll have everything they need. Pros Postman is one of the few tools you can pick up and start using right away, has a very intuitive interface with enough flexibility to do exploratory testing on a Rest API as well as create proper automation scripts to have as regression tests. And IMO, is the latter that truly differentiates it from other tools like Insomnia or Visual Studio's Rest Client plugin. Cons It's paid, while some of the competition offers more on the free tier or are completely free. Also, if you are only doing manual/exploratory testing, there might be tools better suited to the job. I also ran into a couple of weird/random issues when calling https endpoints since by default it has cert validation enabled.
