It is possible to easily implement complex APIs and the possibility of using the pre and post request scripts is very powerful. At this moment, any project that needs a server call implementation, I create a postman collection and easily provide my clients with API documentation thanks to this software. Cons In my experience, account management is a bit convoluted and I can use it, but it's not a feature that I use a lot luckily. Review Source tN teran N. I use it for both of REST and SOAP API development and testing. This is the best API platform I have used and I would like to recommend this to anyone for their daily use. Pros Requests and collections can be imported and exported easily and very quickly. All the requests can be easily customizable. We can set headers, parameters, authorizations in the requests and once we receive the output we can save the response and it's request and can share those with others. User interfaces are really attractive and simple and that makes easier for even beginners. Cons If there are like large number of APIs stored in postman, sometimes it crashes. I did not loose any data but the app is not accessible for sometime and that's the only concern I experienced for these years. Review Source Daniel S. You can easily navigate around the software and see all the results you expect. While you can use other tools, Postman just makes it simple and easy to use. API access can also be controlled by the administration. Pros I feel like it is the best tool for api testing/development, Best thing is its UI easy to understand and Easy to use for api debugging/testing. Features: 1. Supports all content type. 2. Supports Multiple workspace creation. 3. Can easily create collection of APIs with different environments setup. 4. Supports mocking of apis which removes the dependency on backend. A lot of more features which will help to organise your project and can share same workspace with your team. Cons I don't see any cons as such but sometimes application lags in both Windows/Mac systems and after restart it losses all response and previous history of apis request data which definitely require rework again. Pros The possibility to generate automatically test cases from swagger/open api json documents. Setting up pre/post scripts with JS to programatically set up vars to use in your test cases. Cons We try to use Postman to execute load tests but we find it's not very powerfull such as JMeter or other tools. It is recognized as a best go to tool for that purpose. Many vendors would even provide a sample request package that can be added to Postman. Hard to imagine what was life before that tool Cons There are a few bits that require a bit of extra work, e.g. load time is not great, Windows authentication is still not there. Overall it's a great tool, whether you are a tester, developer, BA, or something else, Postman can be useful for any role! Pros I used it every day for manual and automated API testing, what I like about it is the fact that it offers a lot of API-related functionality in one place. You can design and develop APIs, test them, write documentation for your APIs and collaborate with team members. March 10, 2022 5.0 I cannot imagine creating a prototype API workflow without Postman these days! Few HTTP verb methods and I'm on my way to code them up! Pros I love Postman as it stores all my API calls automatically in the cloud and I can reuse them on other machines by simply signing into my Postman account! Creating a new API call is fairly simple and the options and configurations are vast which makes it super flexible and fit for the job. I've tried many other alternatives and Postman is without a doubt the winner in the game. The user interface is slick and very friendly and you'd receive updates frequently to fix the bugs or drop new features every now and then. The other cool feature of Postman is that you can generate the code to call the API in numerous programming languages. This makes it super handy when you just want to put a prototype app together. Cons Seriously, I cannot think of any cons for Postman. The only thing that I might be able to point out is the fact that in the past there was only a single case where the GET or POST was not being configured properly and was causing a lot of headaches for everyone which got fixed straight away. It also allows to create and store structure folders and HTTP calls to help find the right API calls for all the team members. Cons Although most of the features provided by Postman are great, there has been some challenges working with file uploads, mostly in GraphQL. As the query variables are provided in JSON, files are not able to be directly uploaded through there, and some hack with form data is required to send calls with file upload instead of sending from within graphql tab.
