Fulcrum

## What is Fulcrum?

Fulcrum replaces ERP, MRP, and MES with a Manufacturing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, allowing small and mid-sized manufacturers to improve efficiency through workflow optimization and automated data collection. Fulcrum delivers value through a fully digital, paperless workflow leveraging machine learning, automation, predictive analytics, and advanced heuristics to drive throughput and profitability. Software doesn't have to be complicated. The software you use in your personal life (Facebook, Uber, Amazon, etc.) is intuitive, and you don't need training to understand how it works. Why should your business software be any different? We're helping manufacturers transition to cutting-edge, future-proof software that lowers the stress of everyday operations, gets more out of good employees who are difficult to hire, automates tedious tasks, and operates more efficiently than what exists in the manufacturing software space today.

Fantastic. The team is really great. Highly intelligent and driven. Leadership does a great job of expanding how we think of manufacturing and converting that vision into usable software. The application itself has been a game changer. Inventory is correct and scheduling is helping us make the right parts on time.

Pros

Fulcrum helped us improve our data. We really struggled aquiring that data from the shop floor and wanted a solution that could help us see the bottlenecks.

Cons

Reporting was probably the most difficult thing early on. They've improved the reporting and integrated AI more recently so it has really become a non-issue.

System was ok for it's time. Just wasn't built for a modern business. Clunky, not intuitive, data collection was limited to desktops, inventory management was difficult, unwilling to build new features, sales team only interested in selling seats and support plans.

It’s made a big difference in how we manage jobs, quotes, and scheduling. Everything’s in one place and way easier to track, which cuts down on mistakes and saves a ton of time. The software keeps improving too, which is nice to see. Every few months something gets better or more useful.

Pros

The layout and interface just make sense. It’s easy to use day-to-day and doesn’t feel like you’re fighting the software to get work done. I like how much we’ve been able to customize things to match how our shop actually runs, and the support team has been solid, quick to reply, and actually helpful. They’ve also fixed a lot of the stuff that used to be annoying, which shows they’re paying attention to what users want. It’s not a cheap investment, but nothing else I’ve seen can pull off what this does or get implemented and running as quickly. Now that we’re fully using it, I honestly don’t think I could run things day-to-day without it.

Cons

Some parts feel a little clunky because we’re a small team of just a few people, but we built the setup with future growth in mind, so a few workflows are heavier than what we really need right now. Every once in a while, an update moves things around just enough that I have to go looking for them again ... though if I actually read the update emails, that probably wouldn’t be an issue.

Switched from

[JobBOSS²](https://www.capterra.com/p/219273/JobBOSS/)

We switched because Job Boss/E2 was really built with machinists in mind and didn’t work well for how we run jobs. It couldn’t group multiple jobs on the same material without starting each one separately, which slowed everything down. Fulcrum’s work order function lets us group jobs by operation and run them more efficiently. Job Boss always felt like it was designed by programmers based on what inventory managers wanted, and manufacturing features were added as an afterthought.

Reasons for choosing Fulcrum

We struggled to find an MRP that really fit what we do. Most of them didn’t serve the sheet metal niche well or were built for much larger companies. Some focused only on quoting, others were just inventory control, and many didn’t integrate well with the other software we use. A lot of them also didn’t match the actual flow of how our shop runs day to day.

We came from a 9 month run with another "fabrication ERP". That experience was excruciating. After 9 months we knew we'd made a bad decision and had not choice than to find something else. What a difference. All ERPs are not the same. The implementation was easy and quick. And, the Fulcrum team are super dynamic. Anything that wasn't perfect 6 months ago has been fixed or addressed. I love the fact that when there is something awkward or "less than idea" for us, they want to hear about it. The have a single point of contact when there is a question. We're 2 years in and they still reach out zoom meeting from time to time to make sure we're using any new features or have any question/concerns. I wish my business' customer service was as good as Fulcrum.

Pros

We came from a software that simply wore us out. It was unintuitive and cumbersome. Fulcrum was a joy from the beginning and just easy to use. The interface it intuitive and clean. It keeps us organized and I can do an order in under 5 minutes compared to 10 minutes with the old software. Our entire team really enjoy Fulcrum. Very happy.

Cons

Performance is sometimes not the best. I know the Fulcrum team is aware of these performance issues and work continuously and diligently to make it faster and more responsive. 95% of the time it's great but the 5% is frustrating.

Fulcrum has exceeded our expectations as a modern ERP solution for manufacturers. Their commitment to technology, customer input, and professional support make them stand out in a crowded field. We would recommend Fulcrum to other manufacturers seeking a flexible, evolving, and customer-focused ERP system.

Pros

We have been using Fulcrum ERP for approximately 18 months in our aerospace manufacturing environment, and the experience has been very positive overall. Fulcrum provided us with a dedicated onboarding integration specialist who guided us through the setup process. This individual was not only highly knowledgeable about the software, but also flexible and open-minded in helping us align Fulcrum with our aerospace-specific requirements. That willingness to adapt was critical in ensuring that we could maximize the system’s potential from the start. Fulcrum stands out as a job shop ERP system designed with manufacturers in mind. One of the strengths of the platform is that it allows customers to either build their processes from scratch or migrate data from an existing ERP system. The software itself is robust, intuitive, and comprehensive, covering a wide range of functions needed to run a manufacturing operation efficiently. While Fulcrum cannot customize every feature for each individual customer, they actively listen to client feedback and often incorporate widely requested changes into future updates. Compared to other ERP systems we’ve used, Fulcrum demonstrates a clear commitment to leveraging new technology and adapting to industry changes. After the onboarding phase, Fulcrum transitions customers to a dedicated customer service representative. This continuity has been refreshing — it’s much more efficient to have a consistent point of contact rather than working with a different support agent every time. Both the onboarding team and the ongoing support staff have been knowledgeable, professional, and responsive. Fulcrum has proven to be one of the most forward-thinking and comprehensive ERP platforms we have worked with. However, as with any ERP investment, success depends heavily on the effort put in by the customer. Clean data and thorough employee training are essential. I cannot overstate the importance of working closely with the onboarding specialist to ensure the system is configured correctly and that your team understands how to use its tools to their fullest potential.

Cons

Like most ERP's, there is a significant learning curve. Success really depends on the quality of training and how disciplined the company is about keeping data clean. The onboarding phase requires a lot of focus and coordination. If a company isn’t fully engaged during this time, it can limit how effectively the system is set up for long-term success.

Pros

This is the best in class ERP for machine and fabrication shops. It is built on modern SaaS architecture. Very intuitive and they have an innovative road map.

Cons

That I didn't learn about it earlier. It took longer then I would have liked to add bar codes for shipping into the capabilities.

Fulcrum ERP gives us a centralized system with real-time shop floor visibility, helping streamline scheduling, inventory, and job tracking. While we’ve experienced challenges with accounting integration and managing date changes across the system, many of those issues have been self-induced as we adjust. Overall, Fulcrum has made our operations more connected, efficient, and data-driven, with room for continued growth as we refine our processes.

Pros

Fulcrum ERP has been a game-changer for our operations. Its centralized system keeps quoting, scheduling, inventory, and quality all in one place, eliminating the need for multiple disconnected tools. The real strength lies in the real-time visibility into job floor progress—allowing us to track orders as they move through production, spot bottlenecks early, and give customers accurate updates. Fulcrum makes our team more efficient, connected, and data-driven.

Cons

A challenge we’ve faced with Fulcrum ERP is the lack of seamless accounting integration and the need to update dates across multiple locations, which can disrupt workflow. That said, we recognize many of our struggles have been self-induced as we adapt to new processes.

Overall, Fulcrum has transformed how we run our business. It’s not just software—it’s a true partner in our growth and efficiency. I would highly recommend it to any manufacturer looking to modernize their operations and gain a competitive edge.

Pros

The platform is intuitive and modern, making it easy for our team to adopt quickly. The real-time dashboards and reporting give us instant visibility into our shop floor, helping us identify bottlenecks and improve efficiency. What used to take hours of manual tracking is now automated, and our team has the confidence that the data is always accurate and up to date. Fulcrum has also helped us streamline communication between departments. From sales to production to shipping, everyone is working from the same source of truth. That alignment has improved on-time delivery, reduced errors, and ultimately enhanced the customer experience we provide. The support team behind Fulcrum is outstanding—they’re responsive, knowledgeable, and proactive in helping us maximize the system’s capabilities. They clearly understand the challenges of manufacturing and are constantly improving the platform with features that matter.

Cons

While Fulcrum has been a game-changer for us, its constant stream of new features can feel a bit overwhelming at times. That said, it’s clear the team is committed to continuous improvement, and we appreciate knowing the software is always evolving to better support manufacturers like us.

Fulcrum is our organizations second software platform. The first one we chose, was lacking much of what Fulcrum offers as a standard. Modern platform, very intuitive, robust report creation that can be easily modified by the user to be as granular or macro as desired. We had such a great experience with our initial trainer, that when we were eventually handed off to the next level of deeper training, I was tentative. Fulcrum came thru again as our new contact at Fulcrum is, in my view, exceptionally capable, knowledgeable and professional.

Pros

Well thought out, intuitive platform shortens both the learning curve for the executive team and the onboarding curve for associates. Fulcrum's robust quoting module streamlines quoting and BOM configuration for one off assemblies and homogenizes repetitive assemblies with easy access to Rev creation to capture client review red lines. The project manager that was assigned to us was knowledgeable and very proficient.

Cons

To be transparent, the only piece we struggled with was the integration into our accounting software - but to be fair, we pushed Fulcrum to integrate to what was for them, a non-traditional accounting software. but they figured it out.

Overall, Fulcrum has been a strong tool for managing operations. It provides visibility across the shop floor and helps tie together purchasing, inventory, and production. While there are areas that could use refinement, the platform continues to improve and has streamlined a lot of processes compared to older systems. Customer support is fantastic.

Pros

The UI is very intuitive and nice to look at. It makes navigating between jobs, orders, and inventory straightforward, even for new users.

Cons

Some workflows feel overly rigid, and the system can be slow at times when a lot of data is moving. A few processes require extra clicks or workarounds that add time to daily tasks.

So glad we made the switch to Fulcrum. The value Fulcrum provides is amazing. Couldn't imagine operating my business without it now that we have it

Pros

Fulcrum is extremely intuitive and user friendly for in office and production personnel. They customer support Fulcrum provides is second to none.

Cons

Some instances the load times can be long but that seems to be getting better and better. Load in from previous ERP was cumbersome but that's more due to the lack of documentation we had internally

It fully transformed our business, one of the best decisions we've made in growing our business.

Pros

I run a 10 person cut and sew garment factory in Detroit. We're a small and bootstrapped business that needed a tech tool to scale to the next level, but hadn't found the right solution, and more importantly that fit our very small budget. Fulcrum consolidated all of our 30+ Excel sheets into one easy to use format. It keeps us organized and all on the same page. It also saved a ton of time from entering data and cleaning data. My staff was all tracking production times on their phones and with pen and paper before manually entering it into Excel at the end of each day, now it's all done in real time via iPads that everyone keeps at their work station. The Fulcrum team is all amazing and very accessible even a year after implementation to help us with all issues that arise. I couldn't recommend it more for small manufacturers.

Cons

Sometimes there is a little lag between data entered and when it shows up in the system, which throws my shop staff off when everything isn't lining up right away, but it almost always corrects in time and matches up. Overall I'm very impressed how little issues we have, we just need to resync data on occasion.

Our end goal for implementing Fulcrum at our company is to help enable rapid, scalable growth. More product out the door, faster and easier than before. We expect we will see that in the future, but because we’re only a few months into what we believe will be a multi-year journey, we’re not yet able to conclude whether this was made possible with Fulcrum. In the meantime, the process of preparing our data for entry into Fulcrum immediately gave us better quality BOMs. The flow-on effects from that mean better purchasing and inventory management. We also have greater visibility around what the team are completing each day and the real cost of manufacture. However, the key thing we’re still waiting to see the results from is the Scheduler. Once our production team members start to trust the Scheduler and work on what it asks them to work on, we believe that is when we will start to see efficiencies previously not imagined possible. I’ll update this review in 6 months with further details around the benefits we are seeing at that point in time. Keep an eye out for it sometime in mid-2022.

Pros

We have been implementing and using Fulcrum at our manufacturing firm in New Zealand since December 2020. Our company has a headcount of 25, half spread across sales, marketing, engineering and admin, and the remainder as production team members working on the shop floor. We’ve doubled our headcount in the last 12 months, and are looking for tools to help us scale more rapidly. We believe that looking back in 5 years from now, Fulcrum may well be the tool that had the biggest effect on our growth. The launch team that we were paired with from day one of our implementation were instrumental in our successful launch. We had weekly video calls with them to help us understand the basics, they answered our myriad of questions and they helped us with preparing the data we needed to get Fulcrum live, but it’s also fair to say the implementation did take us a lot longer than first anticipated. A lot of these delays came down to the data set that we had. Our BOM’s were lacking clarity, and the process of getting the data into Fulcrum was not very streamlined. More details about this are in the section below. We rolled out a staged launch of Fulcrum in our business, with key components being switched over from the outgoing systems over the course of around 6 months. First Inventory management, then Jobs, and then lastly the Job Tracking component that is utilised on the shop floor by our production team members. We also had to complete a full stocktake on the day Job Tracking went li

Cons

We have a good relationship with the key staff at Fulcrum. From their implementation team, right through to their \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\]. This is because their company is young, the product is still maturing, and they are experiencing the same growing pains that we are - and so with that, we have a lot of communication with them regarding the product, and the resolution of the problems or questions that we raise. We believe the core of the product is sound. The Scheduler is the magic sauce, and it works. But the user experience within the product from onboarding right through to day-to-day usage of the system by our team has room for improvement. It is also accurate to say that they \*are\* improving it. The product has been refined incrementally over the 10 months we have been using it and we hear that the pace of improvement will only increase into the future as they scale up their engineering team. Regarding the setup process. We have less than 2000 unique item numbers in our company, spread across 10 or so core products. Unfortunately, our previous inventory system kept these as flat BOM’s, so adding the data to tree those products for Fulcrum to understand took us a lot of time. Being based in New Zealand also didn’t help, as we needed a US-based Fulcrum team member to upload our data set each time we had another version to test. Due to the timezone differences, this was usually just a once per day operation whereas if the upload was possible via a user-facing page, we believe we could ha

We've had great results that have make our company more profitable. Our turnaround times for customer orders have improved. Our visibility to the floor on what jobs are next has greatly diminished time wasted looking for the order. Our productivity and quality have both increased.

My overall experience with Fulcrum has been mostly positive! There is a slight learning curve for the uninitiated but in my personal experience, the software is very easy use and navigate. Fulcrum has come a long way in the last three years, I'm excited for whats to come!

Pros

What I like most about Fulcrum is the on-demand technical support. No matter how small or big the issue, I am always one email or IM away from receiving fast, direct support.

Cons

My only complaint about the software is the (occasionally) slow load times and the several workarounds needed due to software/invoicing limitations.
