January 20, 2021 5.0 Pros Vestwell required minimal time to implement with our team and was extremely easy to use from the get-go. We barely needed assistance in learning to use the platform. Cons This is probably due to my own misunderstanding, but I didn't realize that I had to change my contribution amount directly with our payroll company. I changed it with Vestwell, thinking they would transfer the information. A pop-up or indicator explaining that this doesn't make the change with the payroll company would be helpful. Reason for choosing Vestwell This was a group decision made after looking at the software integrations with our payroll platform. Review Source Greg C. When the music stopped, I was looking at Vestwell. I have found nothing to like about Vestwell yet. Cons Vestwell is unresponsive at best . Vestwell's online reporting is from another generation. I'm not at all happy about their move to a new investment advisor and new investment funds. All the while, I'm waiting for my profit sharing contribution calculation which appears to be a manual process completed by another department. And, I'm just sitting here waiting. The interface is pretty intuitive to use. I like the colors of their website. Cons Our company was forced to switch to Vestwell after they bought the company (Guideline) who previously managed our 401k. The transition has been terrible. Vestwell failed to process contributions for multiple employees after the transition. And their support is completely unresponsive. It's unacceptable for a 401k provider to fail to process contributions and also fail to assist in correcting the issue. Stay away. Cons My small business' 401(k) transferred from Accrue, which was acquired by Vestwell. Shockingly, Vestwell does not integrate with Quickbooks Desktop (not exactly rarely used or niche accounting software). This means fully automated, error-free processes that had run smoothly for 15 years were now ENTIRELY MANUAL. I am expected to run Excel reports and cut & columns of data. Once we signed, we got assigned \[sensitive content hidden\] to onboard us. She was very unprofessional from the beginning. It's now been 3 payroll periods and our 401k is still not working. After the 2nd failed pay period we got on a call and they took all the blame, admitting to their mistakes and outlining how they would fix them. Now after the 3rd failed attempt they're just blaming it on Rippling and our payroll team despite us repeatedly asking them if there’s anything else we needed to do on our end and them assuring us everything was in order. I would expect their onboarding team (\[sensitive content hidden\] to work with customers to make sure things work, rather than shifting the blame to others. Should've gone with Betterment Pros \[sensitive content hidden\] from sales was great: super helpful, knew her stuff, and made the whole Rippling integration sound smooth. Cons Onboarding went downhill fast. \[sensitive content hidden\] was unprofessional and not helpful from day one. Great sales pitch but pretty bad follow-through. Felt like we were left hanging once we signed. Unfortunately, they were not well versed in Chick-fil-A and that made it difficult for me to administer and fully understand the 401k Plan for my team. Also, there were times that I would find people were eligible to be signed up for the 401k but Vestwell never alerted myself or the Team Member. Or, after a year some of our Team Members should go from 3% to 4% and we were never alerted of that. Pros The platform had a lot of different features available to myself as a Sponsor and a Participant. Cons When submitting a bi-weekly report there was a couple of times that I did not complete the submission process because the last page of the submission process made it look like it was submitted. However, there was one more button I needed to hit to submit. Therefore, I would recommend making all of the "next" and "complete" buttons jump out a little bit more. There was also multiple times I attempted to pull a report and the format was not user friendly when it eventually downloaded. It looked like an old type writer. I would then have to reach out to someone for help and that was frustrating when I was in the middle of 401k audits for my company. Reason for choosing Vestwell Unfortunately, we recently moved to TPC from Vestwell due to the frustrations listed above. I lacked confidence in the Vestwell team's ability to execute what they promised. Review Source Toni H. Everything about they're website has been user friendly. Pros I've enjoyed how easy they make it to view everything. I know next to nothing about my retirement plan and their website has helped me understand where my money is being invested as well as how to adjust anything I may want to adjust. Cons I wish it had an app that I could use on my phone for quick easy access. Looking on my mobile browser isn't always very friendly. Most everything is done on a phone screen these days. Pros I feel that its very user friendly and easy to use. Finding your portfolio is a snap and I think its cool that there is webinars on the software to give you a better understanding of how to use vestwell.
