Attorney Law Practice Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "It does more than other programs" October 10, 2017 5.0 Pros It does more than other programs, is user friendly and the customer support is amazing. I like having all of my work in one place, it backs up to my outlook calendar on a cloud based program so I can access it anywhere. Cons I would like to have the option to show a flat rate client all of the work being done on their case. Just because you're not charging per hour doesn't mean I don't want my client to know about how much work is being done. Please add a billing/invoicing button that allows me to show my clients what's been done, and how much time it's taking me to do something, even in a case where I've elected to charge them a flat fee. This can avoid serious bar problems if a flat rate client fires me 90% of the way through the work and claims to want their entire fee back. It also helps a client see the value in a flat rate fee when if I had charged them per hour the bill would be much higher. Review Source BG Beth G. Cons The task flows are not intuitive yet. You can't assign one task in a workflow to the same person; rather, the person who assigns the taskflow to the matter/case OR another designated person is the assignee by default. If you are just starting out in the legal field, I would recommend looking for a less expensive product that offers more features and flexibility. Pros I found it to be easy to use and the interface was nice to look at. Cons I was disappointed that it did not have the features of some of its competitors and it cost more. Full accounting integration was a big factor. Also liked that it had what seemed like all of the practice management basics, except for document assembly. Having all of our documents accessible via the cloud is also nice. Cons Document assembly is a crucial feature that needs to be added. This feature saves a tremendous amount of time on every matter. For all of the effort directed towards making it easy to bill clients and see where your time is going, the lack of document assembly kind of negates whatever efficiency advantages you would otherwise gain with those other features. Pros Integrated practice management & accounting. This makes trust accounting and billing very simple. Cons Some accounting functions, such as accounts payable, are a little clumsier than stand-alone accounting (like Quickbooks). The functionality for entering credit card transactions and especially recording credit card payment could be improved. I would like to have a calendar shortcut in the quick access toolbar in the top right of the screen. Additionally, the fact that Cosmolex is completely online allows me to work from anywhere. Cons Not every aspect of Cosmolex is completely intuitive, and sometimes you have to search for the function that you are looking for, but Cosmolex support is very responsive and help in this situation. I have also had problems in editing invoice forms because you have to have some knowledge of coding, but I have been able to figure it out. However, my business practice is similar to that of an attorney as a patient advocate. After attempting to organize my client files and billing with the use of MS Office, I began searching online for software solutions. After a lengthy search for consulting and healthcare practice management solutions I thought may work, I turned to searching for law firm software applications and found CosmoLex! Compared to other law firm solutions, CosmoLex is the simplest and most customizable to use. Pros I love CosmoLex because it allows me to customize almost everything to meet my specific business needs and keeps all of my client information and billing organized. I particularly like Snapshot and Money Finder which saves me time and facilitates billing. Also, the invoice format is professional and easy to read for my clients. I highly recommend CosmoLex to my fellow patient advocate peers and attorneys alike. Cons Perhaps the ability to change label names in the header would be nice. Managing Member Law Practice Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "With Cosmolex I was up and running in one day" October 19, 2016 5.0 We had tried Quickbooks so many times and it was always a square peg/round hole problem. With CosmoLex I was up and running in one day. It just made sense for our practice. Pros The integrated IOLTA accounting (and the fact that CosmoLex already knew what that was and how it worked) -The integrated Accounting. Although they may not have all the functionality of full fledged accounting software, it looks like they can do everything we need. We'll find out at tax time! -Ease of use. It is very intuitive. I figured it out without the need for manuals or training, but all of that was readily available. Cons \- Better payroll integration (more options) - Better tracking of client balance less any trust funds (we don't apply trust funds to the account until after a case is filed for ethics reasons, but it would be nice to show the client as paid (or what their balance is) before then....I don't want to do the math!) -More customization!
