The things it might lack are not critical to what I need to get done at work. Pros QBO is very user friendly and easy to get acquainted with quick. There are enough features to allow you to do a multitude of tasks. Online bill pay is an essential feature for us and allows us to send ACH payments for free in a timely manner. The system is able to operate quickly and not slow down with multiple programs open at once. Cons Can be difficult to find discrepancies/accounting errors. Could have more protections against altering previous period numbers. Pros It is very widely used in Canada and with other suppliers, so it is easy to integrate. You can do multiple things as invoicing, financing, inventory management, payments, estimates etc. And the best part is it works on the cloud, so you can work from anywhere and from any device you like. Cons No option to edit multiple items at same time. If you want to change only one letter of 100 product’s name you have to edit all of them 1 by 1. We can only review static, saved documentation Pros I like the fact that it is fairly accurate in predicting what account should be used once it has encountered the same transaction from a bank account or credit card. Cons The constantly increasing price but no new features to justify the increased cost. I think the thing I dislike the most is that the system will not allow the User to take a backup copy. We rely on their cloud and if we stop using their software, we cannot run or produce an electronic backup that we can review without continuing to pay for the software subscription. I started working as a bookkeeping and learnt QB. It's a great tool and the tool I would reccomend for every small business. Pros It's really easy to use and the certifications explain a lot on how to use it. I believe it's great for SBs Cons There should be more integrations with other tools to allow automation. The Amazon integration does not work well at all. Entering receipts and information is very easy and reporting is very intuitive. I do with there was a better way to enter multiple receipts from a payment processor site(Square/Stripe), versus the batch deposits as the systems integrate now. Pros It is easy to enter information into Quickbooks and find it later. Reports are great! I can always find the infromation I need in a ready report, and love that I can click within a report to access more detailed infromation. Cons As a non-profit, it can get a little complicated when tracking restricted revenues and their related expenses. Year end reporting for fulfilling the 990 is not easy when working around the chart of accounts as it us set up in QBO - some account categories don't match up with the way nonprofits track them. The product has all the features needed to run a business, get the reporting and also connecting with useful apps developed by different partners. Especially during this unprecedented times when online presence is fundamental QBO Advances provides access to not the only an accounting platform but also easy integration to other partners like Third party delivery, PoS, e-commerce, ACH Payments, etc. Pros The software is designed to simplify the journey by increasing the quality of the data input during the booking of the transactions and eliminating common mistakes during the process of bookkeeping. I like how the bank feed makes easier every bank reconciliation and provides a lot of information directly from the bank statement. Cons I do not like that the migration from desktop to online is not easy and the online version has some missing features compared with the desktop version. I would be unable to handle the administrative functions of my position as well as client caseload without this software. Pros Ease of use! I am not an accountant nor am I professionally trained in business operations. When I was elevated from Staff Attorney to Executive Director I inherited administrative responsibilities that I was completely unfamiliar with. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how intuitive and efficient the software is. I am confident the transition into my position would have been far more difficult, but not for our subscription to QuickBooks Online. Cons After connecting our client management database and bank accounts to Quickbooks Online, I began to see duplicate transaction entries. In troubleshooting the issue, I discovered that deleting the journal entry created by our client database was the only way to resolve the issue. This makes me uncomfortable. I wish there were a way to "archive" the journal transaction. This would allow the system to properly reflect the journal created by the client database, as well as my direct entry in the accounting software without affecting the overall balance. November 15, 2023 5.0 I came to my current position with a working knowledge of the QuickBooks process. I had prior experience entering data. The layout, checks and balances, and support features have allowed me educate myself on the accounting process. The support offerings are broad. There is technical support, accounting support, and the flexibility and capacity for getting even the most unique transaction. Pros The biggest feature for me is the ability of the application to recieve General Ledger imports from our practice platform. (LEAP) Prior to setting this feature up with LEAP, I was entering data twice. With the import process the accuracy of my transactions is seamless. Cons The only thing I can say would be continuing to have feature suggestions after I have indicated we don't wish to use, regardless of whether it is a direct QBOA or third party. I won’t use anything else to keep my accounts in order for my small business. I have used it for over 2 years and once I learned how it became very easy. I balance my books in about 20 min time each week. Then my CPA uses it to estimate my taxes and it makes tax time a breeze! Pros I like that it automatically imports ALL of my transactions. This includes all of my income and client payments as well as all my purchases like cost of goods, supplies, repairs, everything! Cons It was hard to learn how to use. I had to hire a bookkeeper initially to help me learn how to categorize transactions and reconcile my accounts. Their customer service is not helpful at all. Review Source JF John F. My only gripes are listed above. They are just a few changes I'd like to see happen. Will continue using QB Online and hope to see improvements in the future! Pros Online access, ease of use, and overall user friendliness. Also love that you can add attachments to each entry. Fantastic, because then I don't have to go digging in a file cabinet to find the supporting documentation. Cons Custom reporting could definitely be improved. You can't select from nearly the amount of data items that are necessary. Also, a great feature to add would be the option to add a single attachment to bulk transactions. I would love to see this implemented. IE: when using "Batch Transactions" you could add a single report to the 25 different entries made in the batch. Also, another thing would be that you can list multiple departments on one invoice/sales receipt (IE make it a line item) instead of having to generate separate invoices/SR.
