When I feel I need to call, I get my rep on the phone and they take care of business. Pros I can run large files through the NCOA process by uploading the file and not waiting on human intervention. This speeds up the process. Cons I don't really think about any negatives here - I just run my files through and get quick/accurate results. APIs are available for many functions - address verification, business code lookups like NAICS, name sanity checking, getting emails for businesses, etc. Cons Found the API examples poorly constructed. Would copy/paste to use them and they were wrong. We had one use case to find addresses for a business given only the business name and zip code. Their online UI tools could do it but the underlying API that we tried using could not perform this use case. Also tried to batch processing tool for an excel file and we were never able to get it to work. Switched from [GPT-4](https://www.capterra.com/p/10009335/GPT-4/) GPT4 from OpenAI was giving wrong, incorrect, and inconsistent data. Needed a tool with better data quality. Melissa's lookup service allows me to often confirm an order that appeared questionable or prompt me to attempt to contact the customer before shipping. Pros Easy and essentially FREE name and address verification which has greatly aided my small e-commerce business. Cons I can't complain much about a service that I haven't yet had to pay for, but it would be nice to see info such as how recent the data is.
