Really easy to use and helpful for coordinating ordering for a large lab. Pros Organization and coordination of ordering between all members of the lab. Repeat ordering is simple by searching for previous orders. We've also gotten some good deals using the Quartzy shop. Cons Notification settings are a bit confusing. Cons We have 6 different specialty areas in our laboratory that order different supplies. Because we have them separated, we cannot combine orders through Quartzy for the different areas or combine their items into the same PO. Pros Everyone that needs it, is accessable to them. Puts all purchases from any vendor in one place. Also offers options from Quartzy - same material. When entering a product offers options on different vendors and compariable product. Cons Should be a easier option on choosing quartzy and then change your mind to another vendor, it does not let you go back. We have been using this product since the "early days". It is very nice to see feed back, be taken in and implimented. Pros I really like that this allows my end users to keep up to date with their orders, and out of my office. Cons I wish there was two part approvals that could be triggered by dollar amount, or grant ID. Pros Keep good track of the purchasing process/progress. The approval tree help controlling the expense and who is buying for each project. Cons The search process is sometimes difficult if you aren't in the right section. The link to the products' page is sometimes not working. Pros Great for finding items and great for keeping track of ordering. Cons Nothing is difficult about the software. I don’t like the extra handling charges and I can find cheaper options sometimes through my university’s system. We have saved over $10K by using this software. It is highly intuitive and has helped us operate more efficiently. Pros Inventory tracking and management, participating in volume discounts/purchasing power, simplified ordering, easy expense reports...I would not manage my lab without this! Although some purchases do not reflect our actual discount with vendors, it does offer good pricing from a lot of vendors we might not been able to negotiate better pricing with. Pros Quartzy is a good resource to allow brand new lab employees the opportunity to order supplies and see the price we have locked in as business by scrolling through our inventory of purchases. It is very user friendly and it is easy to place a requisition for approval. We can put in projects and monitor project supplies. Cons The most frustrating part of using Quartzy is the limited and clunky reporting. Quartzy has so much useful information entered in it but pulling it out to review often producing reporting that is not want you really would like to see. It doesn't offer a separate report tab for managers and finance to pull information off to prepare for budgeting and usage. Adding several reporting options to Quartzy could easily change it to a 5 star tool. Reason for choosing Quartzy Cost was a main factor and we didn't have a large enough staff to really evaluate our spend which is now a more important need. Review Source PA Phillip A. The ease of use makes our lab’s experience much more streamlined compared to other labs in our department who still use outdated university provided purchasing solutions. It makes inventory and the ordering process seamless, with easy integrated tracking and receiving options. Their customer service for returning or cancelling orders is reliable, fast, and friendly. It helps that it's free and the products are often cheaper than the manufacturers advertise! Cons The main issue with Quartzy is the search function. While there is a (less obvious) way to put in the vendor and item number to place an order, generally finding what you need from the native search function is challenging. Additionally, there are times when I would expect the item to be ordered because Quartzy has other products from the vendor, but it is unavailable. Lastly, the shipping accuracy is sometimes off, where a package is claimed to be backordered or has not yet shipped, but in fact has arrived at our facility. Review Source LB Lawrence B. Pros I don't feel like I've received formal training on Quartzy. I have found it very easy to use and very intuitive. As the person who processes requests, I like how Quartzy documents, organizes, and catalogs requests that are ordered and received. I like how I can attach files along the way. I like how it sends notifications when the status changes and when you leave comments. Cons I'm still learning. When I get stuck, I reach out to Quartzy for help and they come through everytime. We can easily track the orders and manger the items we have in the lab. Especially for a big lab like us, this is really helpful. Cons Overall is good; just sometimes the website is a bit slow. Cons The only thing that I can think of is sometimes if I want to expedite the shipping on an order, I can't always request that directly in the program - I have to send a message to customer support to do that for me. It has enough bells and whistles to do a great job of inventory from the store to your lab. It even helps you price shop! Pros This product allows you to track want you purchase from PO requested to inventoried in your labs. Cons Some minor bugs that you can learn to deal with. Reason for choosing Quartzy Cost was a big factor. But mainly it fit the mold of needs. Sometimes we are surprised by longer than anticipated lead times (non-Covid-19 related) so that may be another area of improvement but overall I'm very happy with everything. Pros The website fits my operation well for staff to request supplies. Tracking of shipping status works fairly well too. Invoicing is slick in that I can easily generate pdf invoices and having them directly emailed to my AP is a huge quality of life perk for me. Cons The inventory system is clunky so we don't use it. Searching past orders and inventory could be improved. Having a favorites or frequent purchase system could go a long way to help this to make repeat orders easier. Reason for choosing Quartzy It mostly came down to quartzy usually had the better pricing , minimally the website needs to be usable and any improvements will only improve our usalge. Maybe more data integration and reports, but we have no issues with quartzy.
