We have been able to successfully use it to deploy many computers, saving us in tons of time and resources. Pros The main pros for this product are the ease of its use, the plethora of configuration options, and the easy integration into other ManageEngine products. I'd like to also point out that their support team is quick and responsive to getting issues resolved. Cons The only con I have for this product at the moment is how drivers work when deploying, as other similar products have driver packs for specific computer models. For OS Deployer It seems to be simpler to install them on the endpoint on your own after deployment of an image rather than letting it install them for you with the collected drivers your server collects. This is a small gripe and nothing that deters me from using the product as it works perfectly fine in every other way. It simplifies OS deployment and imaging across multiple devices, reduces manual effort, and provides useful centralized management capabilities. While the interface and some configuration options can take time to learn, once set up, the product is reliable and efficient for managing deployments at scale. Pros I particularly like its centralized management, reliable imaging and cloning capabilities, and the ability to deploy operating systems across multiple devices quickly while reducing manual effort. The automation and hardware-independent deployment features also make it useful for managing diverse environments. Cons The user interface can feel a bit complex at first, especially for new users. Some deployment configurations and troubleshooting steps could also be more intuitive, and the initial setup may require a fair amount of time and technical knowledge. While the initial configuration can take some trial and error with PXE and networking settings, once figured out it operates in a most set-and-forget manner with not much need for maintenance or admin intervention. The time savings from automating custom image deployments and functionality for remote node capabilities make it another cost effective and versatile addition to the manage engine suite at our org. Pros Being able to streamline fresh builds via PXE boot with a variety of golden OEM images (Such as per manufacturer; Dell, HP etc) ensures we've always got a clean image applied from the manufacturer that is free of any bloatware or questionable privacy settings that may come shipped initially with the laptop. It allows us to sidestep frustrating configuration issues that are more common with windows in this day and age, such as an inability to set up local accounts during the setup wizard or domain join without the use of hidden command line tools and functions (BypassNRO etc). The use of these golden images is critical in our environment as we are required to regularly facilitate short-notice builds - factory resets or fresh deployments; being able to minimise human interaction means we are able to prioritise current workloads and don't have to invest time or energy to ensure mission critical apps and security configurations (Such as corporate VPN, Security GPO's tied to specific OUs, etc) are always consistantly applied without concern for human error. Remote node support allows us to handle full hardware refreshes in branch offices and remote location independently; a feature that has saved me countless hours of work. Cons PXE networking can require some specific configs for DHCP settings and firewall rules; getting this right the first time is important as it can get complicated when dealing with differing subnets and VLANs. It can also encounter the occasional boot error but this is usually down to the individual hardware/BIOS settings; such as encountering secureboot or legacy/non UEFI boot issues, but as indicated these tend to fall more on the side of the hardware/laptop manufacturer and it's individual BIOS settings than on the OS Deployer tool itself. As with most of the ManageEngine suite, the interface feels clunky and not very modern and it's not uncommon to find 'unofficial' terminologies or typo's/spelling mistakes on some occasions, although where it lacks finishing polish it absolutely makes up for in practical function. This also feels quite trivial considering it's only ever a handful of admins that interface with the GUI. I feel like this product is better than others that have similar offering, based on the price, and services offered. Pros The software is really easy to get setup and started. We've used it so far to deploy around 50 new PC's. The process to create a new image or "golden image" is very easy. Customer support has been great to work with! Cons The pricing for OS Deployer is based on a per device rate, I'd prefer that the pricing be flat rate, no matter the number of devices you need to image. This has a centralized control to improve visibility, standardization of management tasks, and to make deployment easier. This made it maintain the user settings and data, therefore it did not interrupt our employees much while adapting to the new system. Cons I noted that the migration process sometimes overlooked some user-specific parameters, for instance, application settings. During the deployment, it was easy to add the drivers that were compatible due to the automated driver management. Cons When establishing distribution servers, I observed that it took a significant amount of time to configure the same. Any misconfiguration could result to deployment failure and therefore when deploying OS, all the settings should be checked thoroughly.
