I completely understand that technology can fail, administrative mistakes happen, and sometimes an IT issue takes time to resolve. What I find unacceptable is expecting a customer to bear the financial consequences when those issues and delays were not of their making, and then refusing repeated, reasonable requests to put the situation right. I genuinely tried to work constructively with Nookal throughout this. I followed up numerous times, waited while issues were referred to IT, accepted that they could not provide a timeframe, and continued trying to resolve things politely. After all of that, I asked several times for the costs I had incurred as a result to be reimbursed. The response has effectively been a flat refusal, with no meaningful attempt to find a fair compromise. For me, customer service is not about how a company behaves when everything is working perfectly. It is about how they treat a customer when something goes wrong. This experience has left me feeling that there was very little ownership, empathy or interest in reaching a fair outcome. There are other practice management systems available, and support is something I would now place very high on the list when choosing one. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend healthcare businesses explore their alternatives before committing to Nookal. Pros For the day-to-day running of my physiotherapy business, Nookal generally did what I needed it to do. It has a useful range of practice management features and I used the system successfully for several years. Unfortunately, my experience when I actually needed meaningful support has completely changed my overall view of the company. Cons The customer service and lack of accountability when something went wrong have been incredibly disappointing. I spent weeks trying to resolve issues, repeatedly being told they were with IT, there was no timeframe for resolution, and that I essentially had to wait. During this process, my ACC digital certificate was removed when it did not need to be, resulting in me having to pay to have a new certificate issued. The delays also contributed to my account remaining open longer while I was trying to finalise and cancel everything, and I was subsequently charged another month’s subscription. I have explained the circumstances clearly and repeatedly asked, politely and reasonably, for these additional costs to be refunded or reimbursed. Despite this, Nookal has flatly refused. There has been seemingly no willingness to acknowledge the impact of what happened, compromise, or offer any meaningful resolution. That has been the most disappointing part of the entire experience. They have been promising us a client portal all year for release in September. September is here and of course we are now being palmed off. We feel cheated and lied to and the customer service is woeful. Our last email was sent a week ago and we have not received any response. Pros A range of useful integrations. Easy enough to navigate for first time users. Online booking has improved in the last few years. Cons No client portal for checking bookings which is particularly cumbersome for group classes. Easy to learn, simple training videos and accessible online. Pros Nookal are always doing small updates based on feedback from users. The program is easy to book multiple appointments and classes. Different accessibility for admin, practitioners and management is a great feature. Cloud-based software so accessible online for practitioners to view their schedule out of the office. Can view the schedule multiple different ways which is great for planning purposes. Cons Accounts: The accounts section is not as simple as other programs I've used. Reports: The reports section doesn't have a true PVA measure (e.g. number of treatments each individual new patient has). It would be helpful if you could pull a report based on new patients per provider for a particular timeframe to see how many visits patients typically have). Changing provider schedules: Selecting the start and end times is frustrating as you can't type the time and have to slowly scroll past all of the times from 12:00am by 5 min increments. We have found this has been more quick and efficient for invoicing and payments however finding scheduling is now taking up more time. As a clinician, it has been a easy change however I have found it harder to create appointments and invoices. Pros The transition to Nookal has been easy for our company due to its easy to read format, ability to create templates applicable to our setting and clear headings for ease of access when locating appropriate information. I also like the range of colours, ability to see my own and co-workers schedules. Creating a customisable templates for notes that suits our setting has been a big plus as tick boxes etc have made it easier to time manage notes as a clinician. This means notes are kept with the same date and is handy for auditing purposes. Pros I am not exactly a computer proficient so I love how easy Nookal is to use. It saves so much clutter as well with all letters, scans, body charts etc at my fingertips. Cons In my previous place of practice the templates were set up by the team leader and it was time consuming to get them to return to adjust the parameters.
