The system is slow to do anything, it seems every task takes longer than QuickBooks Desktop. It takes days to process payments; keep being told a "glitch" that flags EVERY payment as suspicious. Clients are getting angry it takes so long to process payments. The system cannot handle the size of the payments going through; although only a few clients pay by credit card, the ones that do is disastrous. We will be canceling the payments add-on. I am trying to get ALL my clients off QuickBooks online and to go to a different program. Pros The only positive it is not ties to one computer and can be accessed anywhere Cons The system takes too many steps to do a task, it does not receive payments effectively from clients. The customer service is absolutely useless and does not care about anything. " October 7, 2024 2.0 You can tell that QuickBooks is starting to integrate directly with other services which has its pros and cons. The fact that it’s prettty specific on certain integrations makes it seem more like a limiting monopoly than a truly large business asset you can’t live without. It’s pretty telling when any good accountant dreads having to work within QuickBooks to do any accounting. It’s more of a hub for people that need basic, limiting accounting, that are willing to integrate other apps that have partnered or are owned by QuickBooks. The cost you pay you would think their would be more of a CRM integration with QuickBooks or a sister product for overall business management and quoting/invoicing. However, we’re planning to totally move away because the cost has gotten insane. Pros The ease of access, desktop to mobile. The loan options they have were pretty cool, and were better deals than other banks. Cons Where do I start? Everything is extremely limiting and cookie cutter. It’s very expensive for not having any sort of customization of invoices or estimates. The fact you can hardly get ahold of a live person that isn’t just a call center tech is aggravating. QuickBooks needs to understand that a business presentation to a client can make or break jobs, yet it gives very limiting options to how you can present. Review Source SM Shaun M. The integrations with our bank and credit card company are seamless. We also like how easy navigation is. Pros It was easy to setup. We transferred data from an old accounting system easily. Cons At times QuickBooks will change the look of the reports, invoice templates, and bill templates. Alternatives considered [NetSuite](https://www.capterra.com/p/135757/NetSuite/)[Xero](https://www.capterra.com/p/120109/Xero/) Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online Xero is not used by as many users as QuickBooks Online. NetSuite is too complicated to set up for our use. Switched from [Xero](https://www.capterra.com/p/120109/Xero/) QuickBooks Online is used by a large number of small companies like us. I could create clients and products and select them easily when it was time to send out a invoice. Before I started using QuickBooks, my invoicing and follow up was a mess. Also, it was easier to prepare for tax time because I didn't have to hunt through my hard drive and papers for documents. Pros I run a creative business so it was important that any accounting software be very simple to use. I found that QuickBooks was very simple and intuitive. As soon as I signed up I was able to quickly get it up and running and sending out invoices. Having the ability to accept credit cards made it a lot faster to get paid and I liked that the software would send out reminders and late notices. Cons Expensive. You need to pay a monthly fee plus a substantial amount on every invoice you send out. Review Source KC Kari C. It makes knowing who paid us and who has not simple and we love that it integrates with our CRM so we do not have to manually enter payments. We also pull P/Ls from QB and love that feature. Pros I do not know much about accounting but I keep track of our quickbooks and I feel like it is super user friendly! Cons I don't really have any cons. Pros Its very easy and friendly to navigate through the menu options. Can handle employee payroll and automates tax calculations. Cons Its looks a bit old, the IDE can be updated. October 3, 2018 5.0 Pros Before QB Online, I used QB desktop. I hated how I was limited to where I could work. Now with online QB I can pull up reports anytime and anywhere! Cons Very different than QB desktop. It took some time to learn and figure out. I have had to call customer support a few times. They could be better, but eventually helped. Pros I love that it's easy to use for bookkeeping, payroll, etc. and that they are often adding new options for employers like 401k accounts to make it more streamline and easy to manage for small businesses. They also usually have good customer service. Cons The cost of QuickBooks Online is a lot. It adds up and I do wonder about switching at times because of the high monthly cost. Also, there are still some elements that are confusing to a non-accounting background person. Pros Love the easy to use interface and integrations with all of the financial institutions I use. Also makes payroll and paying business taxes a breeze by not just tracking these amount but also paying directly from QBO. Cons Cash flow projects are terrible. A key feature that is missing, that would be great to have, would be to track upcoming monthly bills and expenses to see the impact future bills will have on cash position. I currently have to track this separately outside of QBO. Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online Familiar with the brand having used Intuit products for tax preparation in the past. It is super convenient and allows easy access to see how much/when I get paid. I also find it nice that it automatically provides a W2 for me. Pros I love that I can always get easy access to all my payments. Sometimes I like to go back and see how much I have made within a certain timespan, and this website makes it super easy for me to do so. Cons Some of the more advanced features can feel a bit overwhelming or hard to find at first. It took me some time to fully understand the layout and how to use certain tools, but once I got the hang of it, it became much easier.
