Owner CEO Construction Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "A Very Powerful Software" October 11, 2024 4.0 I signed up for the discounted first 6 months and I felt at that price there was good value, after that expired, I know feel like QuickBooks is a form of a tax or a burden for small business. Pros The product is very robust it can do much more then I will ever be able to use, that is why I have a bookkeeper to help me. Cons My bookkeeper had me unsync my business bank account from QuickBooks because of the way QuickBooks would classify different expenses. I don’t know how much of an issue this is with my bookkeeper vs. QuickBooks but that where I am at now. Use it for many clients and the customer support is strong as well. Pros So versatile, really easy to use. We used the classes alot for our fund management. Its is also very compatible with other softwares we use. Cons The search feature is not as good as the desktop search feature. Now with online QB I can pull up reports anytime and anywhere! Cons Very different than QB desktop. It took some time to learn and figure out. I have had to call customer support a few times. This was a great option for business owners. My staff finds the new platform easy to learn and has been encouraged by its overall functionality. This has made my job much easier. Pros The functionality and ability to teach others has been a great benefit. I was concerned the platform would be difficult to learn but instead it has been easier than expected. I'm excited to learn more about the ins and outs of this platform. Cons Works great no issues with platform. This is my first experience with QuickBooks online but have not been disappointed. It skipped some of my captures from my bank accounts and it double counted some of what I was capturing without it actually being double entry. It threw off my numbers by forcing me to integrate with PayPal. Pros I like that it integrates with a lot of platforms. Cons It is a bloated software that is overly complicated and yet is so crucial for so many small business owners to use. It’s a system that makes it requirement practically that a small business owner has to hire a expert to set it up and manage it. This is not feasible nor is it new small business owner friendly. Alternatives considered [Xero](https://www.capterra.com/p/120109/Xero/) Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online It was cheaper and it integrated with at least two other things that I needed it to integrate with. Switched from [GoDaddy Website Builder](https://www.capterra.com/p/182500/GoDaddy-Website-Builder/) I was forced to make the switch when Go Daddy canceled their bookkeeping service. Overall, it's very effective and streamlines processes. On the other hand, Intuit has gobbled up so many different companies that it creates problems in either functionality or security due to user login issues. Pros QB is pretty straightforward, and there is a lot of built-in functionality with other products. Unfortunately, this is a Con as well. The user interface is very strong; the user experience needs to be streamlined. Cons QB is owned by Intuit, and because intuit owns So Many Other products, there is a LOT of strange overlap. I dont like that Intuit has purchased other websites/ products that our team uses, which creates problems when I created an account with the same email on a different website. The only negative is that customer service with a live representative is impossible to reach. They also raise their rates every year by about 9%. Pros QB is easy to set up and navigate. Generating reports is a snap and it integrates seamlessly with Quickbooks payroll. you can also invite your accountant to have access to review and help with tax returns. It is super convenient and allows easy access to see how much/when I get paid. I also find it nice that it automatically provides a W2 for me. Pros I love that I can always get easy access to all my payments. Sometimes I like to go back and see how much I have made within a certain timespan, and this website makes it super easy for me to do so. Cons Some of the more advanced features can feel a bit overwhelming or hard to find at first. Office Manager Facilities Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Works well but frustrating updates" September 6, 2024 4.0 Overall I don't mind it, and I get what I need from the system for invoicing and payments, as well as expense tracking. What I really do not like is the constant changes and updates without notice - especially when it affects the layout and I have to relearn how to use it. Pros For the most part the system is simple to use, and it easily lets us send invoices and receive payments from our customers. Cons I really dislike the constant aesthetic changes to the site, especially when there was no reason to make a change. For example, a more recent change was "updating to a more modern look" - but it completely changed the layout of our invoicing screen, making it much more difficult to navigate and make sure all the required items are put in correctly. Also, you don't have the option to change the layout back to a previous version - you're just stuck with the new one - which is so frustrating. It seems like as soon as you get used to one thing changing they make another change - without notice - and you have to learn the system all over again. In my work I truly don't have time to relearn how to use a system that should be easy to use. Very frustrating. Review Source ML Mandy L.
