All of the updates force you to change and re-customize everything over and over. Pros QB online easily connects processes to limit the interaction between invoicing. Cons Migration. Going from QB Desktop Enterprise we were told this was the "New" and "Better" QB. But after we put all of our chips in for the migration for Online, we and our QB Advisor realized how limited QB online is and how all of our process and customizations are extremely limited. It is also very hard to get reporting on individual products. It used to be so easy and simple on the desktop. This was not a "learning curve" this was re-learning how to run your entire business. We survived the pandemic, economic uncertainty, only to be demolished by Quickbooks and Quickbooks Checking/Green Dot incompetence. Pros We liked the speedy deposits and having everything (we thought) in one place. What a fraud. Cons Incompetent support staff and help that was anything BUT helpful. No one has answers to important questions and, in fact, we were told to wait several times while customer service reps "googled" the answers to our questions, many of which turned out to be inaccurate and outdated. Each call we made resulted in at least four department transfers and lasted at least 90 minutes, all for situations that remained unresolved at the end of those calls. Pros Online affordable bookkeeping solution that allows access with my accountant. Cons I do not like the receipt upload management. When I tried this feature, it was difficult for me to find my transaction and match it to the uploaded receipt. We use it everyday with no issues at all. Pros Using QB Online has been a breezy if you have multi-accounting system where a lot of people need access to entry work all at the same time. The Billing and Invoice system is simple to use. The menu is getting better to use with the last few updates. Cons The learning curve from QB Desktop to Online is huge. Very hard to find anything the way it is in the Desktop version. August 30, 2019 5.0 Great accounting management tool. Pricing is relatively fair and customer service is amazing!!! Pros I love Quickbooks. It is very intuitive and easy to use. I use it all the time whether it is to pay invoices or send send invoices. I have never had any security issues and the payment / invoicing process is always very smooth and only takes minutes. You can easily track income and expenses, run reports and manages bills. Cons I have not had any issues using Quickbooks and I don't think I'll ever reconsider switching to another software. The software met all of our needs until we finally outgrew its capabilities and had to implement and ERP system. For small businesses though, it would be hard to recommend any accounting software over QBO. Pros As a startup, QBO has been essential to our accounting function. Setting up an account is easy and QBO was able to scale with our needs as our company grew. Cons Eventually our company reached a point where we had complicated inventory and quality-specific processes that needed to be tracked that we could no longer manage in QBO. Inventory is a weak point of QBO, but any company with complex inventory will likely need an ERP system anyways. Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online I have had past experience with QBO and was already very familiar with the software. If the price were higher, it would be a different story. But as is, it gets the basic jobs done. Pros Quickbooks Online has a simple, modern look, and is easy to access from anywhere. I like that it helps me keep an eye on the general state of my accounts. Payroll is very easy to run, and paying taxes is wonderfully simple. Cons I don't understand why there are so many fewer features on the online version than the local computer version. It would be great to expand how I use QB online, but it is still lacking many features. As a non-profit doing fund accounting and handling many reimbursable grants, it's just very hard to do most of this in QB online. There's is no budget option in the online version. The eco-system allows me to offer more resources and solutions to my clients. QBO doesn't have to do it all for all industries, it just has to partner with 3rd party app developers that are specialists in their industries. Cons There is a lack of communication from Intuit / QuickBooks. For example, if a user can't access their company file, they don't know if it's a QuickBooks issue, an internet issue, a browser issue or user error. I wish QuickBooks would send an email that says QBO is down for an hour. And if a function is not working, let us know, keep us informed of progress made. They will make a case for you after going through all the necessary steps, but never contact you back. I have called multiple times about my case to be told "we will email you when the case is settled." I have been waiting on a case to be resolved for over 6 months now. All you need is access to a computer and the internet. Pros Being able to access Quickbooks Online from anywhere is the biggest perk. You don't have to remote login to a computer to be able to access your information. Cons There is very little to not like about Quickbooks Online. The functionality is the same as the desktop version in my opinion. It takes a little bit to get use to but when you do there is no going back.
