Pros What I like most about QB Online is its convenience, user-friendly interface (ease of use for non-accountants, and the various standard reports for analyzing the financial activity and results of my business operations. Cons What I like least about QB Online is the inability to create a new account in the chart of accounts by copying an existing account with similar settings. It has made starting a small business a little bit easier. Pros I like the variety of different things you can do on it. It makes it very easy for a small business to have everything financial all in one. Cons Based on how a business is set up the financial reporting doesn't provide necessarily all that you need in a easy legible view without spending a lot of time to manipulate the report. The flow was very nice. It was also a time saver when doing reconciliations. Great value for the money. Pros That I can reconcile in real time. Also, the ease of use was amazing. Invoices are easy to send and customise. Pros Ease of use - it’s relatively simple to navigate through the features (Invoicing, banking, VAT returns etc). Cons Payroll - it is difficult to use, and they constantly change the design of the payroll pages. It is also difficult to edit a payroll run once it has been completed. I like QB payroll feature and how the integrate. If you have a larger company with a lot of transactions it can go bad easily and quickly. Pros The cloud feature that I can access anywhere. Cons From my math QBDT does end up being a lower cost overall (although the QBD version is getting more expensive by the day) Work flow in QBD is better/smoother, reports export to excel in a nicer layout. If you are tracking inventory for resale items in QB (if you aren't - you should be even if you don't have things on a shelf) - inventory is WAY easier to reconcile in QBD than QBO. It is easy for everyone to see the accounting and to track basic expenses and categorize them into profit, loss, margin, etc. Since our business is so small it has been a good fit for us so far. However, as we expand our reach it is increasingly difficult to track everything and scale it accordingly. Pros QuickBooks Online allows multiple users to adjust information as needed. The system is fairly intuitive and easy for people to get information with access from anywhere. Cons While this is good for small businesses to do basic accounting, as it grows it is harder to scale without significantly increasing your company costs to use QuickBooks Online. March 20, 2025 5.0 I am beyond satisfied with my overall experience. This simplifies my bookkeeping by a ton. When it comes to having employees in quickbooks, I can't say enough good things. It's so seamless. Employees put in their info, and quickbooks takes care of their W-2's so I don't need to worry about that. They handle all of my employer taxes and make tax payments regularly so it takes that entirely off of my plate. Such an amazing software. Pros Quickbooks makes payroll for my small business EXTREMELY simple. They handle many things that I would be so lost trying to do myself. For the price, it's so worth it. Cons What I like least might be the "look" of the software. It may not be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and sometimes I can get confused where to find things. For remote only employees, Quickbook online is even more important. Pros Ability to store info and data on cloud. Employees can work anywhere. Automatic invoicing and transaction downloads, and no need to separate back up. A must have tool for accounting team Cons The lack of solid audit trail controls and how easy it is to delete transactions is a huge issue. I would choose this 100% over any other bookkeeping system. Would be even better if they integrated more QB Desktop features into it. Pros Quickbooks is the best record keeping system there is. The ability to record all your transactions with ease makes it so worth the money. Cons Quickbooks online is a great system but opposed to Quickbooks desktop, it has a lot to catch up on. Cons The reports are terrible. When you call for help the support staff doesn't know what you are talking about. I do not recommend it. I will be telling all the business owners I know to avoid using this and find another service provider that actually offers customer service when it is needed. Pros None. There are no upsides that I have to discuss here. Cons If I could give them zero stars I could. I have been back and forth with Quickbooks for over a month trying to figure out how to attain funds from a client. I have a bank slip from the client, and further evidence that this money should be on the way. Quickbooks has been inefficient, ineffective and completely inconsistent when dealing with this case. I have been on the phone for three hours, had to upload documentation twice to different case numbers and still have no resolution in sight. They have the worst customer service system I have ever seen. There is no way to talk to the same person again, which means you have to explain everything from the beginning every time you call in. The options for all of the financials and the ease of making them your own are great! Cons There are not too many functions in QuickBooks that I don't like however I am not a fan of the new banking transactions view. I do find this to be not as user friendly as the old version. It is simple enough to interface that I can keep books in between load assignments. Cons Customer support is sluggish during heavy loads, and occasional bugs in bank feeds or report filters break up frequent reconciliations. You messed up my payroll taxes. You locked me out of my account with no explanation. It turns out that someone in your company changed my employee's bank account information which we figured out on our own. You said you would email me in 24 to 48 hours. While I waited, I could not do payroll or get paid. I tried to report fraud but your machine hung up on me twice. I could not get a hold of anyone but the lowest level employee to help me and many of them did not know what they were doing. The feature I had that helped me pay my subcontractor stopped working. Your employee could not explain why this happened and would not connect me to someone who could explain it. Frankly, I believe you owe me money for all the time and extreme frustration and anxiety you caused me. I hope this review makes you pay in a different way.” Pros It saved me time. I was able to automate many features. I had everything in one place. Cons Customer service was horrific. You can only speak to the lowest level employee. If you have a major problem you will need to wait for an email. I spent many hours on the phone with their employees who had to get their information via chat on their computer.
