January 11, 2018 5.0 convenience, affordability, ease of use. complete control of our accounting needs that I can easily share with our accountant, bank, or any other vendor I choose. Pros It has reduced my accounting costs by allowing me, a small business owner, to manage most of my accounting needs internally. I simply do my accounting monthly and my accountant is able to log in and review and amend the monthly statements. It makes it really easy and affordable. Cons Recently, it has increased their monthly fee which I feel was an unreasonable increase. New users are able to get the online product much cheaper but they make it almost impossible to change over to another product to due restrictions on data downloads and conversion. Pros Tradegecko streamlines the entire process from making quotations to collecting payments. Everything is automated. We sell specialty chemicals for researchers (universities and companies) which still place orders by emailing/faxing PDF POs, requiring manually entering order information. The software is very easy to use and saved us time. Cons The software does not allow many customization by individual users. Pretty much all features are universal. Different users always need customization to fit their needs. TradeGecko should create many options that allow each user to select, customize functions. For example, there is no option to change the name of invoices, Proforma Invoice vs Invoice, which should be a basic feature for users to deal with organizational customers. I do payroll, taxes, daily input, etc. I run my whole business with Quickbooks. It’s so easy and user friendly. I’m not a techy by any means and it is so easy. If I ever have a problem, the support staff are always EXCELLENT. Cons I like everything about it. I also use the payroll/worker features that are very good. Pros Integrates with my POS system and accountant is very familiar with it, so it's easy when it's tax time. Pros It makes my life easier for it is easy to use and learned a lot from this book. It really organize your businesses finances. Cons For me it is expensive. We also did not get the feedback we needed at the initial set up time which ended up up messing our inventory and created a problem on bigger over time. Highly recommend. Pros I love being able to access my finances from any location via the internet. Sending invoices is a breeze through the web or app as well! Cons There are some different features that are available on the online version vs the desktop version. The desktop version allows you to have more customized invoices with custom fields and email templates. The bank download also stalls fairly often. Not sure if this is something to do with the bank or if it is on the QB side. Pros QuickBooks online is easy to setup and use. Functionality is good right from the start. As a startup, we needed something intuitive and fairly easy to use. We got both with this product. We have a small finance and accounting team and a very immatute IT function. The product was perfect for us. Cons The ability to pull costume reports is limited. We have a hard time pulling comprehensive reports on donors which include addresses and donation history. The program is also limited on how many classes (programs) you can have. I have little trouble moving about in the program and it is rather user-friendly (unless you delete something, don't do that!). I would recommend QBO to any small business, whether they are working with an accounting team or not. It seems that most of the accountants and bookkeeper's I know are very familiar with the program and like the flexibility the QBO program provides. Pros This program interfaces with my client management program and makes keeping track of business accounts very easy. For an "accounting" challenged individual, QBO makes navigating the inner workings of my business financials fairly easy and straightforward. Cons There are some areas of the program could potentially be more streamlined and easier to navigate. While I'm not sure if it is on QBO's end or my practice management software's end, there are some inputs that seem to never transfer over into the proper categories and I have to re-enter them or adjust them in QBO. January 15, 2020 5.0 I used QuickBooks for many years to run a small computer service company. It did a fine job of handling bank accounts, check writing, accounts receivable and payable, report writing, etc. After I was trained in its proper use it did an excellent job and was fully adequate to the needs of my organization. I can't comment on how it would work in a very large company, because I have no direct experience with that. Pros QuickBooks comes in many versions, customized for your particular type of business. Those versions are optimized for the particular needs of, for example, service companies, with a different version optimized for sales departments, medical practices, etc. It is extremely powerful and will do an excellent job for a reasonable amount of money. It's manuals, both printed and online help, are excellent, and its tech support is first rate. Cons It has a very steep learning curve, and you need to understand a minimum of bookkeeping and accounting in order to use it correctly. When I first started using it, I had to hire an accountant to set it up and train me in its use. There can be long time waits for tech support to come on the line. Review Source Richelle Marting J. Pros I love that QB has both a desktop and web application, integrates with almost any CRM software, has fully customizable reporting, and connects to most major banks. Mobile app makes financial management on the go easy. Cons Biggest drawback in the legal industry is the inability to bill from two different accounts - operating and trust accounts. It is easy to use and reliable, and we find the online experience in maintaining the software with the yearly subscription (through TechSoup for nonprofits) beneficial in knowing we have the most updated software. Building Materials Used the software for: ### "Terrible customer service" February 6, 2015 1.0 We have used QBO, Payroll and Intuit payments for over 3 years now. The service continues to get worse. Hold times are long and the staff that finally does take your call are very polite but inexperienced. As a result I have spent many hours dealing with problems because the staff takes so long to figure out the issue. I have called three different times about an issue and gotten 3 different explanations. There are glitches with how Payroll and Payments interfaces with QBO. We need the cloud based version as we are on the road a lot but I much preferred the desktop version and the payroll service was better before they were acquired by Intuit. It is almost like Intuit has gotten too big and cannot service it all well. Pros \-Cloud based -The idea of payroll and payments being automatically linked to your bookkeeping is great but the actual interface of the three still has problems. Cons \-Long hold times -Inexperienced customer service reps -Inability to escalate concerns -Troubles with their system being down. -You are kind of captive once you sign on to all their services. -Holes in interface between services. You make changes to payroll through QBO and everything appears fine to you as the user. There is no notification that additional steps are required. We had a new checking account. Made all the changes we could see to have payroll run from the new account. The QBO registers showed it pulling from the new account but the actual payroll paid from the old account. -Intuit payments does not consistently notify you when a payment is returned. We also shipped $2200 worth of product and were never notified that the payment had been returned. Review Source Christine P.
