Pros I enjoyed the ease of entering bills and all the choices for type of payment being right there on the same screen. Cons My least favorite thing about Quickbooks, that ultimately ended up being the deal breaker, was the customer service. Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online At the time it seemed like the only viable totally online option. Now, there are others in the space. Pros Quickbooks is one of the most popular accounting tools out there and for good reason. It has so many features, and for me personally - It makes it super easy to track inventory for my company. I've used it in previous companies as well to prepare reports and this makes it easy to put them together from the journal entries you've entered before. Cash flow reports have never been easier! Cons It took time to learn all of the different features - but once you get it down, you'll be using it for everything! Review Source JW James W. July 29, 2021 5.0 It has been really nice to track invoices and expenses. I previously worked at a job where everything was kept on paper and it was nightmare to try to find anything. If one of the bosses took something home to go over it I would have no idea and be searching for that one piece of paper all day. It was terrible and the office was constantly mismanaged. I can guarantee if they had quickbooks, so many of their problems would be solved. Pros I mainly enjoy the fact that it is online. My boss can be working on it from home and I can update with any checks I write during the day while I'm at the store. She can see what is happening without a million phone calls or texts. I also like the ease of use. I hadn't used quickbooks before this job but found that it was very user friendly and didn't take me long to know how to run it. Cons I do feel like it can be buggy at times. I don't know if it is just because it's online and our internet isn't great. I've only used it from the work wifi. Other than that I think it's a great product. Pros There are great benefits to using Quickbooks Online. It offers easy to see summary on the home page of all the pertinent information I need. Cons The menu doesn't offer a lot of detail so when I run into areas that I don't know how to handle, I constantly have to look at the help icon. Love the online version specifically to use on any device and to share with our accountant in real time. Pros The simplicity to link accounts to the software and for them to automatically update, having transactions between accounts self match for easier reconciliation. Also having our tax preparer able to login to pull the information they need or review over the phone so we don't have to schedule office visits. Cons We don't use anywhere near all of the features since we use it only for our taxes (income and expenses only - no payroll etc) so the monthly cost for us is high to have the "Class" tagging to streamline our I&E report for all 4 of our tax reports. Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online Quickbooks is the only software that I was honestly familiar with, the online version appealed to me as I do not trust hard drives on computers anymore and like to have access from anywhere at any time. There is sometimes too much clutter, but it's only clutter because we don't use 100% of the tools. Cons To start completely fresh on a calendar year, you have to create a new account. Everything perpetually carries over even in a cash accrual setup. April 30, 2021 5.0 SW is great, but I don't use it for anything new as they keep on raising prices somehow, and there are way cheaper options out there if you don't use all the bells and whistles. Pros Easy to use. Integrates well with banks. Great Reports. They have lots of bells and whistles if you want to use them. Cons They constantly are working on how to extract more money from you by charging more for existing functionality. Their latest exercise removes the no charge ACH with delayed funds availability and replaces it with next day available at 10% or $10 (whichever is less) per ACH transaction. This would have added roughly $100 to my monthly costs as I have multiple tenants each paying their part of the rent... I am hard at work on a replacement ACH payment processor. There are quite a few out there to choose from. It will still cost me more than it used to, but a 3rd party payment processor will cost less than what Intuit would have charged me. The downside is the transition of monthly invoices / payment options from QBO to a new payment processor. Pros It's easy to use and move around in. It's intuitive software so it helps when looking for things. It's also helpful that there are multiple ways to balance your accounts. Cons Took a bit to learn, but once we did we were fine. I wish there was better training offered by Quickbooks. Pros Well we migrated from paycheckrecords.com into QuickBooks workforce seamlessly, and the user interface is simple, clean, and just everything you would really need! It’s really convenient that they allow you to download/save your paystubs directly from the dashboard as well. That makes everything else so much easier/smoother in life overall as well! Cons Nothing bad to say, honestly!! They even use turbo tax which quickly & once again, seamlessly connects everything right there! I'm able to easily propose adjusting journal entries and view financial reports that clients have prepared. As a result, when I receive financials to prepare tax returns, I'm able to quickly determine whether a transaction is a red flag and needs to be investigated further or is an ordinary and necessary expense. As both a user and recipient of QBO financials, I realize the importance of delivering and receiving organized reports. It makes my job and life much easier. Pros I really like how accessible QB Online is. I don't have to constantly waste time closing various update notifications plus opening client files is very easy. The reports also come out very clean and organized. It's similar to the QB Desktop version where you can view the account details by clicking on each account. That is definitely one of my favorite features. Recording journal entries is also very simple and goes a step beyond by allowing you to attach documents to entries. So, in addition to creating clean financial reports, there is a data storage capability, which is very nice. Cons What I liked least about this software is it's not very intuitive to navigate. I feel like I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get the reports I want. There isn't a menu or default list of popularly used financial reports I can quickly choose from so I've frequently had to use the "search" tool. Sometimes, after I'm finished reviewing the transaction detail of an account and ready to close out of the window, I'll close out of the entire report and have to execute another search for it. So I'm never certain whether I should use the back button. It's definitely something I can look past but still slightly annoying. Review Source JT Jacqueline T. I was never trained to use QB, but was asked to do my own research and spend time learning it on my own. I was able to get reports with ease, and find my way through it without a lot of help. Cons When we switched to QB Online, we lost the capability to merge our old projects with the new online version. So for example, if I'm looking for an old project's numbers, those folks are no longer "projects." The easier way to find what I'm looking for is by vendor. I have created several reports easily and pulled data into spreadsheets. Very user friendly regardless of which version you use and can seamlessly connect additional services. One of the best accounting sites available Pros This software is very easy to use, I have used both for LLC and Self Employed versions and can customize to what the clients need. Running reports for various needs is quick and easy. Cons Depending on the version and add on service that you use the 1099 reporting was a little more expensive than another service I found in recent years, but overall not an outrageous amount at all.
