During the free trial we soon realised it wasnt suitable for us so we moved to self-hosted kafka. We tried to close the Confluent account. There is no simple way to do this in Confluent. We couldnt remove the payment details which you have to enter when signing up for the free trial. There is no easy way to contact support from within the GUI. Then today out of nowhere we get a bill for over $1000. I emailed Confluent's Global Technical Support who replied promptly that they would issue a refund but it would take several days. Still no mention of removing the payment details and closing the account. Pros Easy to deploy. some functionality. pretty gui Cons No way to remove your payment details or close your account from within the GUI. No warning after 'free trial' that the account is still active. no way to export invoices. lacking integrations and key features. Reasons for choosing Confluent Platform We thought it would provide a quick and painless alternative to launch and manage a kafka cluster. We were wrong.
