" July 30, 2021 5.0 Pros Confluent Platform wraps Apache Kafka in a platform that is enterprise friendly, since it provides tools that make life with Kafka a little better - like KSQLDB for streaming and modifying data, Schema Registry, and others Cons The deployment on K8s was not easy to do, I didn't find a clear K8s deployment guide. Same goes for OpenShift. And it has a lot of tools and APIs for developing and testing. Cons It requires a little bit of experience and knowledge to manage the platform. Confluent rip off" December 3, 2020 2.0 Confluent is easy to onboard. During the free trial we soon realised it wasnt suitable for us so we moved to self-hosted kafka. We tried to close the Confluent account. There is no simple way to do this in Confluent. We couldnt remove the payment details which you have to enter when signing up for the free trial. There is no easy way to contact support from within the GUI. Then today out of nowhere we get a bill for over $1000. I emailed Confluent's Global Technical Support who replied promptly that they would issue a refund but it would take several days. Still no mention of removing the payment details and closing the account. Pros Easy to deploy. some functionality. pretty gui Cons No way to remove your payment details or close your account from within the GUI. No warning after 'free trial' that the account is still active. no way to export invoices. lacking integrations and key features. Reason for choosing Confluent Platform We thought it would provide a quick and painless alternative to launch and manage a kafka cluster. We were wrong. We've created multiple pages across our org which have given us a nicely curated repository of information and marketing collateral. Cons The navigation and searching leaves a lot to be desired. Pros I love that this is a collaborative platform that we use for our team process documentation It is our go to spot for all process I love that it allows for folders so we can organize all information Cons It is not the easiest to use, to post and publish - so if you want to write something plan ahead and block out time.
