### "Loom for Screen Recording"

December 9, 2023

5.0

Pros

If you are looking for a tool to either record your screen to help users, communicate with your screen, or make a tutorial, Loom is a perfect option. I love that they recently added frames for your photo/small self-video, screens for explanations and that you can control which screen you share. The free version is 5 minutes or less, so if you need more time than time you will need to pay, but it is worth it.

Cons

It might, in some cases, make my laptop (Mac) slower if I have it opened for too long. It gets fixed by closing and reopening it.

### "MRA review"

June 7, 2021

5.0

Overall very nice and very beneficial for the work I do. Most of my colleagues are using it because it is easy to record and easy to share with the rest. Always works amazingly and it is very reliable. It is the first software I tried to record videos for and I haven't switched to the other ever since.

Pros

It is easy to use, very user-friendly, and simple yet very efficient. Makes my work easier when I have to record material for new colleagues who are just onboarding which is part of my role in the company. In just a few minutes you can make a video of the material you need for your work. Personally, the timer makes the difference for me because I have those few seconds to prepare and start. Also, you can easily always start over or edit, amazing. I like the feature where I can check how many people viewed my video and that way can check how many people have viewed it and had it been a success.

Cons

So far, I like everything. I haven't had any issues with the software.

### "An easy to use and understand video/screen recording software"

January 14, 2023

4.0

I haven't really used this software for long but for the little time I've used it, I don't really like it the phone version, it's too plain and you can't really do the necessary things you need to do when recording or editing a video. One thing I actually like about this software is the user friendly, easy to use and understand interface.

Pros

I like the fact that I could record my screen while doing a face cam, I like that there is an option to choose between recording just my screen, just my camera or both my screen and my camera.I also like the fact that I could reduce and get rid of unwanted noise, the noise reduction and removal features is very good and smooth.Another thing I like about this software is the fact that I could get rid of filler words in both text and audio and you get the choice to choose if filler words should be removed in just text, audio or both text and audio.

Cons

One thing I don't like about this software is that the recording tools are visible when recording. And another thing I don't like is the fact that I can't minimize on the phone version, so when I try recording both a face cam and screen recording and I try minimizing to another app on my phone, the video recording would stop and due to that I'm unable to record what I needed to record on my screen and that's quite annoying. The last thing I don't like about this software is the fact that some features that are available in the laptop version isn't available in the phone version, for example you can edit a video in the laptop version but you can't edit a video on the phone version.

### "Making Recorded Communications More Personal"

November 1, 2022

5.0

Loom is the best! It helps me give my students a more personal way to teach them though we are countries apart.

Pros

What I like most about this software which my students like too is when I send them a project tutorial or demonstration using my Excel shared through this app, I can keep my face seen and it's not distracting in any way. I can choose to minimize my camera so that the focus is the screen. But my students say they feel it's a more personal way to teach them online classes.

Cons

I hope the screen and camera feature becomes available to my iPad too. I'm using the 8th Gen and it's probably the reason why it's restricted.

### "A valuable tool for newbies like me"

May 2, 2024

5.0

Pros

As a newbie working as a freelancer, I am sometimes having difficulty understanding the instructions given to me by my client. But with the help of Loom, my client is able to provide and guide me thru the process using screen recording. In that way, I am able to finish the task on time and accurately. And it saves time since I can just watch the video again without needing to call or talk with my client.

Cons

The site sometimes crashes and the video recorder won't record despite clicking the button several times.

### "a very complete complement"

April 6, 2022

4.0

Loom has helped record teaching classes, while the teacher opens a slideshow application. It was also very useful for recording tutorials and sharing the content on youtube.

Pros

I have recommended Loom for a long time. It's fast, can be installed as a Chrome plugin in seconds, is feature-rich, and captures almost any screen content in real time.

Cons

It is a light and easy to use software, it does not have many cons, only the advertising banners and updates are somewhat annoying, I have also experienced some problems with sound capture but in the latest versions they have already solved it

### "Best screen recorder for 99% people"

August 10, 2020

5.0

I only used the free plan, but I never felt I needed a paid version, the free plan was that good. It covered everything a regular screen recorder might want from an easy to setup solution. Loom doesnt offer advanced video editing options. But that is actually a plus for me as I know nothing of video editing and many other apps scared me off with their sliders and buttons and frames. I am a simple maker who knows his strengths and Loom helped me in playing those strengths. I frequently used Loom for a quick screen grab for my employees and clients showing what I need and do. I later loaded the videos in my Youtube for marketing and easier distribution where network is poorer.

Pros

This is an app that you cant break. You can run it on a barely running PC, low on ram, processing power, poor or NO internet and it will still run, without any error. If it was a superhero, it would be Superman! This is the easiest app that I have used for screen recording - I make instructional videos for my remote employees and content marketing. It runs on and off browsers and can save offline recording. Has very easy to use controls. Loom gives you 1 hour of recording on free plan which is simply generous, while many others give you 5-10 minutes. They have basic analytics for free plan and it is enough for many people.

Cons

There is simply nothing I did not like about Loom. For advanced users and video editors, Loom would feel too vanilla as there is little editing options. But Loom is not for advanced editing, it is for swift screen recording and does that superbly.

### "Excellent for communication of values to customers"

June 13, 2023

5.0

Overall, I am very satisfied with Loom as it allows me to explain concepts to both customers and colleagues in a way that immediately gets value across.

Pros

It is easy to create videos that are polished enough for external use. Such videos clearly demonstrate our product's value.

Cons

When sharing a browser tab, it is not always clear when the recording has started, which means I have to clip the start of the video on many occasions. In the worst-case scenario, this concern spoils my confidence to introduce the topic during the recording as I am unsure what is being recorded and what is not.

### "A good program to record your best projects"

August 20, 2021

5.0

In general, I consider it a very good option for screen capture and recording. Especially if you don't have a program that already has it as a complement. In addition, recording and sharing is super easy and fast, for a quick project it is excellent

Pros

What I like the most about this program is the ease of recording according to what you need, either complete or view, screen and audio separately.

Cons

What I like the least is that it has flaws in the option to share direct as a google extension and you have to go to the option to start recording. On the other hand, when you change the tab, if you are showing the screen, it hides the video from your webcam, which I would like not to happen to make the video look better.

### "Loom is an awesome recording tool!"

May 22, 2024

My overall experience with Loom is overwhelmingly positive.

Pros

My favorite feature of Loom is the short videos have completely replaced the need for some meetings, allowing my team more time for work. The time limit allows my team to be more concise in updates.

Cons

There is not anything I dislike about Loom.

### "A unique approach to remote working support that allows documented video recording and sharing"

February 13, 2023

5.0

Loom enabled us to overcome many obstacles to activate the role of documented visual communication by working remotely, as it provided us with more effective communication channels, and we were able to communicate ideas and manage operations easily. The ability to receive and document comments and notes also contributed greatly to increasing our ability to cooperate to find appropriate solutions in a short time.

Pros

Loom's unique capabilities allow us to record videos in high quality and share them quickly and easily with co-workers or clients, which makes it a great tool for communicating ideas and guidance and clarifying some outstanding issues from a distance. It is also great that there are a lot of customization options in Loom that increase our capabilities. We can easily adjust the recording area and add annotations, which increases our ability to accurately communicate specific information and ideas. Also great about Loom is that we can receive feedback and comments easily, which gives us additional capabilities to coordinate tasks and solve problems remotely smoothly. Loom provides a Chrome extension, which contributes to expanding the scope of sharing through links with a larger number of colleagues and customers, where they can watch and comment without the need to install the program.

Cons

Loom is a great and easy-to-use tool, but some improvements need to be made to be able to edit videos better, and videos should be allowed to be recorded offline, as sometimes we are in out-of-cover areas and need to take notes.

Pros

### "Don't look any further for any other screen/video recording"

July 22, 2021

5.0

Even though Loom doesn't have just an audio recording feature, it works perfectly for my personal projects. I would recommend this tool to anyone who is looking for an amazing tool to record video and screen recordings. It is very easy to use so even non-tech-savvy people can easily use it without a problem.

Pros

It's easy to use. It's user-friendly, it has a clean interface, easy to download and I managed to use the features without the need of going to the Help Center to find answers or help! I love how that you have different options of recordings such as recording a specific browser tab, an entire browser screen, or even add your own video. Loom is perfect to record courses as it is very interactive.

Cons

Maybe I haven't used it for too long and I have somehow missed this feature but I wish Loom had the option to record just the audio, no video, no tab/browser, just audio. Hopefully, this can be added in the near future.

### "Face to face human interactions in a time of remote work and hybrid work"

June 15, 2023

5.0

Great experience, it allows me and my team to quickly share knowledge "face-to-face" anytime anyplace. We love the human, seeing someone's face, aspect.

Pros

The chrome plugin is awesome as it provides easy access to Loom to make on the fly recordings, videos and step by step walk throughs to share with my team or clients.

Cons

Even though the Plugin is great, it can freeze my browser for up to 10 seconds to load and then another few seconds to start recording. After creating a video, a personal dislike for myself, is managing permissions is not intuitive and a little confusing when I want to share certain videos and permissions with different stakeholders inside and outside my organisation.

### "Good quality screen recording"

July 3, 2024

4.0

Decent screen recorder. Worth checking out.

Pros

Loom helped make popular the concept of sending screen recordings via a link. After you record a screen-share its quickly uploaded and a link to the video created. It does this much faster than Google drive does.

Cons

Sometimes with software like Loom they start with a great concept eg easily make screen recordings that can be quickly shared via a link but then in an effort to improve it they add lots of options that you dont need so the UI is a bit cluttered.

### "Good product, but it currently lack 2 important features"

October 15, 2022

4.0

Happy, but I was expecting much more.

Pros

It's very, very easy to create a video, even from your browser, once you install the extension. Just a few clicks.

Cons

At the time I'm writing (October 22) the search feature is case sensitive and doesn't search for substring. I.e. if you search for "cap" it doesn't find "Capterra". The other critical missing feature is sorting video. You can't sort videos in your dashboard, not even alphabetically. You have to resort to folders to organize your videos somehow. Another critical point is that sometimes it takes a long time to load a video. And occasionally, the GIF previews is not generated correctly and you get a broken link instead. I know (from support) they're working on this, so I expect at least this last glitch to be fixed very soon.

Switched from

[ScreenPal](https://www.capterra.com/p/203114/ScreenPal/)

I needed a quick way to preview videos in the email and, as far as I know, Loom is the only tool on the market that automatically creates a GIF preview of your videos and makes inserting this preview into an email a piece of cake.

### "Loom- a great collaboration tool that saves time for everyone"

January 25, 2023

5.0

Looms has helped me so much by preventing unwanted meetings, even the free version helps keep things more condensed! I think it makes us so much more efficient.

Pros

This software allows you to do video tutorials or presentations in a matter of minutes! It is so easy to use and to edit, I definitely recommend this tool because it saves time and prevents any misunderstandings or unwanted meetings.

Cons

I think the thing I liked the least about Loom is that the free version only allows 5 minute videos, but that actually helps keep the information condensed!

### "One of the best tool for video recording and sharing"

March 30, 2023

4.0

Pros

It is the platform where people communicate with one another for remote work. It is a simple and quick tool that also shares feedback among teammates. Many companies like HubSpot, Netflix, etc. use it for screen recording.

Cons

It is expensive. Many tools like Dropbox, Slack, etc. can offer more functions than just video messaging, and that's too within the same cost.

### "Excellent tool for team collaboration, training and documentation"

June 11, 2021

5.0

I have saved many hours of time making revisions or asking for better explanations in email when troubleshooting with a remote client. We also use this for step by step tutorials for our in house documentation. We record what we are doing and embed the video with written documentation in Notion. You can play it right from within the Notion page, which is great!

Pros

It is so easy to record your screen while you talk and you can do it from anywhere.

Cons

The only thing I wish it had were the ability to remove the controls from the bottom of the screen while recording.

Alternatives considered

### "The days of using screenshots to tell a story are over"

November 7, 2022

5.0

I use both the desktop app and browser extension to record videos from my desktop. Being in the IT business, I am constantly taking screenshots to explain things to my clients and my own team. Loom ended that because their easy-to-use screen recording software makes screenshots redundant. The free version limits you to 5 min recordings, but the business option allows longer recordings and team folders where shared recordings can be accessed. Once you have taken a recording, you can easily copy the URL and share it with internal and external people or embed it in a website, knowledge base or email. Recipients can comment on the video if you dont disable that feature and Loom shows metrics about views. Loom is super helpful for communicating ideas with people and is much faster and more effective than typing. Its also a great communication aid for remote teams.

Pros

Loom is a great way to make and share short video messages (talking head and screenshare). It is super helpful to explain complicated ideas to colleagues and clients in a far more effective and efficient way than typing long emails and pasting in screenshots. If I was able, I would use Loom to review Loom.

Cons

Video editing options (post recording) are limited but Loom are adding features regularly

Pros

### "Great for Explaining Computer-Based Problems/Solution to Clients Remotely"

September 6, 2023

5.0

Overall my experience has been positive, and my clients have greatly appreciated the software when I send them explanations with video to accompany it.

Pros

I work remotely with various clients who record podcasts. That means that I'm managing a tech-based product, often times with clients who are not fluent in technology. I use Loom to go over systems, software, and processes in real time so the client can watch what I'm doing on their own time, and refer back to it if they need to in order to properly learn how to use the system/software etc.

Cons

There isn't really anything I don't like about Loom - it is exactly what it says it is. Even just using the free version, you can record multiple 5 minute videos if you have a longer message to portray.

Reason for choosing Loom

Loom was the first product like this that I came across - prior to that I was just taking screen shots and writing emails.

### "Excellent product that is being consistently improved. "

May 24, 2022

4.0

I'm a big fan of Loom. I don't think there's an easier or more affordable way to quickly and easily shoot and share video content, and screen shares.

Pros

I love how easy it is to make a quick screencapture or video and share it with others. I often use it to explain things to clients, without having to write out a full e-mail. It's also helpful when reviewing documents, as they can be viewed along with video and audio commentary. The fact that you can shoot a video, and share the link in no more than a few clicks of the mouse is fantastic.

Cons

The file structure for completed videos is a bit difficult to manage. I still haven't mastered this, so my video storage is a bit of a mess. I understand that they've released new features recently to make this better, but I haven't had a chance to look at it. I haven't had to.
