### "Efficient Records Management Allows Staff to Focus on Casework Rather than Paper-Handling"

When we initially started working with Northwoods, we used the Compass products. We needed to get out from under all of the mounds of paper we were constantly having to dig through for information. Being bound to paper case files is also a collossal waste of time and money - generating it, filling out forms, filing documents, storing documents, making sure you have necessary forms (hopefully the most up-to-date version) at your fingertips, physically transporting case files, then sending them to closed storage for retention for decades! So many people involved at every single exchange. We needed Caseworkers to have access to records and information in the field when questions came up, to be able to show a client a document, be able to enter photos into the records remotely. The concept of having a complete, organized case file by the end of the life of a case is extremely difficult to achieve without a system like this. Traverse made life so much easier by storing our records in the cloud, avoiding having to synch staff laptops and iPads on a regular basis. The search capacity and the ability to see all aspects of a case, and those related to it are phenomenal!

Pros

I love the fact that data is imported into Traverse from Connections, that our own customized forms are available to use within the software, that there is an established workflow for hand-off, review, sign-off, etc. I love the timelines that are automatically generated including major events during the life of a case, and the fact that content and case notes (if input regularly) are searchable, saving time and helping staff focus in on issues quickly, rather than reading through reams of paper hoping to find what they're looking for.

Cons

There is a learning curve with this software, as there is with any new product. It is extremely beneficial for caseworkers that invest the time to learn the system and "play with" it capabilities, then share what they learn with others. There are simple things that pop up that are a little frustrating because they seem like little things in practice that would make a world of difference in time-savings. The Northwoods Customer Success staff are VERY responsive to any and all suggestions, researching and providing feedback. We are very appreciative of that - makes our staff feel they have hope to tweak those areas that would be helpful, rather than just accept the way the system is like they have to do with Connections.

I am a strong believer in the value of Traverse, my entire unit uses it an it makes being it easier for me to know exactly what we need when situations arise that people are off or if some one fills in for another staff. It has become very fluid within my unit and I love not having to worry about loosing paperwork because its created, signed and saved in traverse.

Pros

I love that it is something that I can easily use in the field or in the office. As a one stop program it reduces the need for extra steps to get documents uploaded into an easy to share filing system.

Cons

The app has some glitches that can sometimes be frustrating. And it can be a bit of a process to get forms updated

### "I don’t really use traverse "

Pros

Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. You forced me to type 40 Characters.

Cons

Not intuitive. I use it when I’m on call to and each time I use it I still don’t know how to pass off a document and have to wait until business hours to get help form a daily use. If it were intuitive, I would know how to pass off a document after a 2-3 month gap of use because it would just be natural.

### "Traverse- the good/bad"

Overall it has been great. People are very helpful when sought out.

Pros

Easy functionalilty and overall flow of software. Appreciate that it is person focused rather than case focued as pilot was. Downloading completed content, ability to change things is a perk vs pilot.

Cons

I will the county did more work up front in getting folks ready for deployment. It felt rushed but that was because the folks who were doing the work were already swamped with other work.

Like the thought process of how Traverse is supposed to work. Concerned when using the help desk feature, the IT had no clue as to what I was needing help with and couldn't offer any solutions.
