## Cost breakdown

Acuity’s range of pricing plans allows you to choose the most suitable option based on your business’s scheduling needs, budget, and size. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

### Starting price

Acuity Scheduling’s pricing tiers start with the Emerging plan. This plan costs $20 per month for a monthly subscription or $16 per month for a yearly subscription. It is best suited for small or new businesses with few customers.

The Growing plan costs $34 per month when billed monthly. If you choose the yearly plan, Acuity charges $27 per month.

Acuity Scheduling also offers a Powerhouse plan at $61 per month on a monthly plan and $49 per month on a yearly plan. Due to its support for staff in multiple time zones, Powerhouse is best suited for businesses looking to expand across different locations.

The price of the Enterprise plan isn’t publicly available on Acuity’s website. Rather, Acuity offers customized price points for your business according to its scheduling needs. To find out how much your business would pay for this plan, contact the sales team.

### Billing options

Acuity Scheduling lets you choose between monthly and annual plans. Annual plans are generally best suited if you intend to use the scheduling tool in the long term because they offer a 20 percent discount.

You can also opt for monthly plans, which offer the flexibility to change your plan if your needs change or your business grows.

### Feature differentiation

While there are some core features present across all the plans, they vary in the degree to which you can access or use them:

- **Bookable calendars:** The Emerging plan allows businesses to create only one calendar for clients to book appointments. The Growing and Powerhouse plans allow you to add up to six and 36 calendars, respectively, while the Enterprise plan gives you unlimited calendars.

- **Time zone conversion:** All of Acuity’s plans automatically convert clients' time zones when booking appointments. The Growing and Enterprise plans allow your staff to access this feature across multiple locations.
- **Reminders:** The Emerging plan only supports email reminders, confirmations, and follow-ups. The rest of the plans include email and text message reminders.

## What users say about Acuity Scheduling pricing

Capterra analyzed over 5,000 reviews from Acuity Scheduling users over the last two years to understand how they feel about the price points of this tool’s plan. Generally, users feel Acuity Scheduling is a cost-effective solution for scheduling and calendar management. However, some users, especially small business owners, say that its pricing is on the higher side. Acuity Scheduling offers multiple features and supports multiple integrations.

Some users also express concerns about Acuity Scheduling’s transparency regarding the pricing tiers. According to them, the per-session pricing model is potentially misleading and confusing.

It is worth mentioning that some users view the free trial period (seven days) as too short to truly get a feel for what the software offers. Further, they cite that the free trial isn’t as comprehensive as its alternatives because it lacks all the features available in the paid plans.

The only downside to Acuity Scheduling is that it can be a bit expensive, especially if you need to use multiple features and integrations.

The design is super clean, making it easy to navigate for both you and your customers. Plus, with a higher-level subscription, you can integrate multiple people's calendars, so scheduling meetings between multiple parties is a breeze.

We'd like to set up service packages which we found Acuity was one of the very few that allows it, but we didn't find a way for us to include more staff members - it gets very expensive if we do, which isn't sustainable for a small business.

## Total cost of ownership

Before committing to any software, your business must consider all the costs involved. Usually, businesses only think about the upfront costs. However, even after paying the subscription or setup fee, there are usually additional charges that you may not have anticipated. Combined, these costs are referred to as the total cost of ownership. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the total cost of ownership for Acuity Scheduling:

### Upfront costs

These are the initial expenses you incur when subscribing or purchasing the software. You’ll usually pay these costs during or shortly after purchasing the software. They may include the software license's initial purchase price, installation fees, required hardware upgrades to run the software, training costs for employees or staff using the software, and customization costs if you need to tailor the software to your needs.

Apart from the monthly and annual subscriptions, Acuity Scheduling doesn’t list any other upfront costs, such as installation or licensing fees. However, as is the case for most software, your team may need training to familiarize itself with working with Acuity Scheduling. Additionally, your business may have to pay more than the listed maximum subscription fee for customizations and advanced features by subscribing to the Enterprise plan. You can get more cost details about this by contacting the Acuity Scheduling Enterprise team.

### Additional costs to consider

Once you purchase the software, you must think about the expenses that you may incur for running the scheduling software. For Acuity Scheduling, these expenses include the following:

- **Payment processor fees:** While Acuity doesn’t charge you to integrate your payment processor, your payment processor provider will usually charge you for handling your payments. These fees may include transaction, interchange, chargeback, and monthly statement fees.
- **Text messaging fees:** You will be charged for sending your clients messages for confirmations or reminders. Standard messaging rates apply, and this may vary depending on your mobile carrier. However, Acuity Scheduling will not charge you for any messages it sends you or your clients.

### Services needed to implement or manage the platform

Acuity Scheduling provides several support options to get you set up and get things running. It has a Help Center page that contains guides that give you information on various topics on Acuity. Further, the software also has a YouTube channel that provides tutorials on how to use and manage the software effectively in your organization.

For enterprise organizations or those that need customized versions of Acuity Scheduling, the software provides a dedicated account manager for guidance on how best to leverage it.

### Internal resources needed for ongoing platform management

Acuity Scheduling, like most platforms, may require several resources to ensure that it works as required and helps your business optimize scheduling. A key resource is ensuring your team has relevant skills to fully leverage Acuity’s features and solve technical issues. It’s worth noting that roles around this platform may lap over each other. Some of the roles this team may have include the following:

- **Scheduling product expert:** This individual specializes in Acuity Scheduling. They know the platform inside and out and are in charge of training your organization’s staff to use it effectively. This person is also responsible for keeping up with any updates on features and security and ensuring your organization implements them.
- **Technical support specialist or developer:** You may not have access to a dedicated account manager if you aren’t subscribed to the Enterprise plan. Additionally, the support team at Acuity may not always be available to help solve technical issues within the platform. That’s why a technical support specialist is essential. This individual is responsible for troubleshooting issues, such as bugs and syncing issues. They may also help manage integrations with third-party applications.

- **Customer success representative:** Your customers may not be conversant with Acuity Scheduling and how it works. As such, you may need to take them through training and support them during this process, or else they reject using the platform altogether. A customer success representative can help increase customer adoption rates by offering support during the onboarding process. This person can help answer questions that your clients have regarding the platform. They can also help improve client experiences with the software by gathering feedback and implementing it.

## How to choose the right Acuity Scheduling pricing plan

Choosing a plan that best suits your specific needs and business is essential. More often than not, businesses usually choose the cheapest option because it’s cost-effective. While this may be an option, it’s not always the best approach because you may end up wasting time and resources. It’s best to do your research beforehand so that you can understand what each plan offers and if it’s what your business needs. That said, here are some things you should consider so you get the best out of the plan you choose:

_Key considerations while choosing the right Acuity Scheduling plan_

- **Assess your business needs:** First and most importantly, you must consider your scheduling needs. What are some of the challenges you’re currently experiencing scheduling-wise? What do you want to achieve with a scheduling tool? How many team members do you have? These are all important questions to help you identify your needs.

    - For instance, if you have a small team or are solely in charge of scheduling, the Emerging plan may be the perfect fit because it only allows one bookable calendar and staff locations. It’s also important to consider the industry compliance requirements and which plan can help you achieve this easily. A good example is HIPAA compliance. The Enterprise and Powerhouse plans support HIPAA compliance, which is important for companies in the medical industry.
- **Compare features offered in each plan:** The distinct features each plan has is another factor you should consider before committing to a plan. Of course, your business’s scheduling needs will largely influence the features you want. If you need basic scheduling features and have a small team, the Emerging plan may be what your business needs. You get one calendar and unlimited appointments. As for the Growing plan, you can add up to six booking calendars, text message reminders, and customer packages, such as gift certificates, subscriptions, and bundled appointments. Lastly, Powerhouse gives you the advantage of industry compliance, removing the “Powered by Acuity” brand from your scheduler and custom API for your developers. You can always speak to Acuity's Enterprise team if you need to customize the platform’s features to meet your exact needs.
- **Consider your budget:** How much are you willing to spend on an Acuity Scheduling plan? Can you comfortably pay this amount for several months or a whole year, depending on how you choose to make the payments? This factor is one of the most important ones you should consider because, despite your needs, it may not be the best choice if you can’t afford a plan. For instance, if your business is a startup or you’re a solopreneur without employees, the Emerging plan can help meet your scheduling needs at a cost-effective price. On the other hand, if your organization is an established business with multiple locations, it can comfortably pay the price for the Powerhouse plan.

## How to maximize the value of your Acuity Scheduling subscription

When you choose a paid plan, you must ensure you get value for your money. Here’s how you can ensure that you do:

_Ways to maximize the value of your Acuity Scheduling subscription_

### Utilize all features

When you’re on a paid subscription, you’re essentially paying for the features. Therefore, you must ensure that you leverage each and every feature you pay for. It sounds straightforward, but to truly utilize all the features you get, you must first do enough research on how to implement them. One way you can do this is to leverage the free resources offered by Acuity on YouTube and their Help Center. On the other hand, you could hire a product expert to help your team implement the features effectively. Depending on your budget, this individual can be on a full-time tenure or consultancy.

### Use customer support and resources

It’s worth noting that while you can use Acuity’s support services, the Enterprise plan is the only subscription that offers a dedicated account manager because you pay for it. This means that your team gets 24/7 support via phone, email, or whichever way you find most convenient. As for the rest of the plans, you may not get this level of support, so it may take time to get the support you need. Beyond Acuity’s official customer support, there are other resources you can leverage. For instance, most of these software usually have community forums, where current and past customers share insights on how best to use the software and deal with common issues that may arise.

### Additional tips for getting the most out of your plan

- Regularly train your team members on Acuity’s features so they can maximize the platform’s efficiency.

- Stay updated on Acuity’s new features (if any) and find ways you can leverage them.
- Encourage customer adoption by training them (if necessary) and offering any support they may need to book appointments using the platform.
- Customize your scheduler so it aligns with your brand by adding your logos, brand colors, and messaging.
- Integrate all the supported third-party tools you leverage for scheduling to ensure a seamless booking experience on Acuity Scheduling for your clients.

## Is it worth paying for Acuity Scheduling?

Your business’s individual needs and budget are two of the most important factors when it comes to deciding whether Acuity Scheduling is worth the cost you pay for a plan. Here’s a detailed breakdown you can utilize to help you make up your mind.

### Value for money

Based on our research, we established that Acuity Scheduling has a value-for-money rating of 4.34 out of 5. This rating considers customer reviews published in the last two years on Capterra.

Generally, users mention that the price is cost-effective, considering the features that it provides. They mention that the software is easy to integrate with other applications and easily customizable. Some users mention the great customer service they receive combined with training, which makes it “reasonably priced.”

Here are some user reviews that mentioned value for money when using Acuity Scheduling:

### Included features

Acuity Scheduling offers various plans with different features. Therefore, to get value for money, you must choose a plan that provides the features you need to meet your scheduling needs.

When you subscribe to the Emerging plan, you get the basic features of Acuity Scheduling and are entitled to one bookable calendar. You can see it as a way to test the tool out should you need more calendars and options in the future.

The rest of the plans increase the available features (combined with all the basics) as the price increases.

Generally, Acuity Scheduling provides features that facilitate booking appointments for you and your clients. For example, you don’t have to hop into calls or receive/send emails so your clients can make appointments with you. This software enables self-scheduling for your clients; when they do, it appears on your synched calendars.

Additionally, Acuity helps reduce the rate of missed appointments by sending confirmation and reminder text messages and emails to both you and your client. Other features, such as bundled packages, discounts for subscriptions, and gift certificates, help increase your business revenues.

### Customer support options

Should you require support from Acuity’s customer service, there are several options available to you. Acuity’s website lists three main ways—Forum, Hire an Expert, and Squarespace Help Center. These options are available on all Acuity-paid plans.

The Forum page on Acuity’s website lets you interact with existing and past customers on how best to leverage the software. Here, customers ask questions regarding the issues they may be experiencing, and other users can share their experiences with similar issues.

In the Help Center, you don’t get access to a customer representative. Instead, you fill out a form with details about your issue and can upload a screenshot of it.

Acuity also provides access to experienced professionals who can help you leverage the software to its maximum potential. This page also provides a detailed knowledge base on the different features that Acuity provides, as well as how-tos and troubleshooting guides. The “Hire an Expert” option is a marketplace where you can choose these professionals. It lists their experience and how much they charge so you can choose one that’s best suited for your needs.

The Enterprise plan offers dedicated support, with 24/7 access to customer service. Acuity assigns a dedicated account manager who answers any concerns and helps solve issues you may encounter while using the software.

## Is Acuity Scheduling right for you?

### Assessing your requirements

Your needs will differ from another company, even if you have similar structures and are in the same industry. That’s why it’s best to assess what exactly you need from a platform such as Acuity. Once you do that, you’ll know for sure whether it’s right for you or not. Here is what you should consider:

- **Team size/number of users:** The size of your team members will directly affect how much you will spend on Acuity Scheduling. This is because the rates for each plan are on a per-user basis. That means if a plan costs $20 per month, should you have 100 team members who need to use the platform, you would pay $2,000 every month. Worth noting also is that each plan has a limit on the bookable calendars you get. For instance, Emerging usually provides just one booking calendar, while Enterprise offers unlimited calendars.
- **Complexity of needs:** The complexity of your workflows will also determine whether Acuity is the right platform for you. For instance, you must determine whether platform integrations are important to your operations. If they are, does Acuity offer integrations with the specific platforms you use, such as payment processors and Customer Relationship Management (CRM)? It’s also important to determine whether you need basic scheduling or advanced features like packages, custom APIs, and centralized user management.
- **Compliance and security requirements:** When handling appointments and bookings, you’ll deal with lots of customer information. Some of this data may be sensitive, and if it falls into the wrong hands, it could cause security issues. You must consider the security measures that a platform like Acuity provides. For instance, if you’re in the medical industry, Acuity supports HIPAA compliance, which is available for its Powerhouse and Enterprise plans.
- **Customizations needed:** If customization is important to you, you must consider if Acuity Scheduling supports this. Luckily, it does because it provides custom CSS and APIs for developers, so you don’t have to stick to the basic look that the platform provides. You can change the look and remove the Acuity brand logo from your scheduler. This is an important consideration because it can help with client adoption. The closer the scheduler resembles your brand in terms of colors, logos, and messaging, the easier it is for clients to trust it and use it for booking appointments. Note that customization is only available for the Enterprise and Powerhouse plans.
- **Support requirements:** The amount of support you get when using any software is critical to how best you utilize its features. However, it also depends on if you actually need that support. Do you need 24/7 support, or can you leverage available free resources to use the platform? With Acuity, the Enterprise plan is the only tier that gives you a dedicated account manager to help resolve any issues you have with the platform. This support, of course, comes at an additional cost. The rest of the plans have basic support, such as forums and the center, where you'd get help should you need to inquire about something.

### Alternatives to Acuity Scheduling

Acuity Scheduling has competitors offering the same services but with slightly different features. As such, you may consider all the available alternatives before paying for a subscription.

Some of Acuity’s major alternatives have slightly higher ratings, so it’s worth considering them. **GlossGenius** has received the highest value-for-money rating over the last two years with a score of 4.8 out of 5. **GlossGenius** offers a standard plan for $24 per month, for less than 10 users. **Goldie** received a value-for-money rating of 4.6 and is available at $19.99 per month, followed by **Vagaro** which is rated at 4.6 and is available from $30 per month. **SimplyBook.me** has received a value-for-money rating of 4.5 out of 5 and costs $9.9 per month when billed annually. ### Making the final decision

Acuity Scheduling is a solid option for your scheduling needs. It provides flexible pricing for businesses of all sizes and with different needs. Startups or those with minimal scheduling needs can leverage Acuity’s Emerging plan. In contrast, already established businesses with advanced customization needs can subscribe to the Enterprise plan.

Acuity doesn’t have a free version but offers a free trial to test the tool out. The free trial doesn't require a credit card and Acuity won’t charge you once the free trial is over without you opting in to continue it.

This platform performs well compared to its alternatives and competitors. Standout features include HIPAA compliance, centralized dashboards, global text messages, and automatic time zone conversions for clients and staff.

Ultimately, even with this platform's great features, the decision as to whether it’s the best tool for your business will depend on its specific scheduling needs, budget, security needs, and size.

#### Methodology

1. Review excerpts are passages extracted from longer reviews written by verified reviewers. We obtain these excerpts by applying an algorithm that considers factors including, but not limited to, length, topic coverage, and thematic relevance. Excerpts are evaluated for positive or negative sentiment and receive a sentiment score. Excerpts represent user opinion and do not represent the views of, nor constitute, an endorsement by Capterra or its affiliates. Excerpts are not edited for clarity or grammar.

2. Our research team identified these features from vendor websites (as of Feb. 17, 2025) based on their analysis of what users find valuable or expect from project management software. This list is not exhaustive. For additional features, refer to the vendor’s website.
