### "Best Relational Database Service in the market til now"

May 28, 2019

5.0

Overall its the best thing we did to choose AWS RDS, we are happy with the service amazon provides & we can focus on other issue leaving our database in amazon's strong hands.

Pros

He been using AWS RDS for like 4 years now, & its the best Database management tool we ever tried. Here its super easy to operate & scale your database. The console is easy to understand & somehow intuitive if you been working with databases in past. Multi-AZ feature gives you power if you cannot afford any downtime. RDS takes backup automatically so no worries of loosing any data.

Cons

Only dark side of AWS RDS is its pricing, do have a watch on what they billing you. Keep track of your usage on CloudWatch and Trusted Adviser. It may get expensive not not affordable if you use it without sincere approach.

### "Simple, stable SQL DB hosting"

December 11, 2019

5.0

We have a fleet of managed DB instances and we don't have to worry or set up replicas manually.

Pros

The managed nature of the hosting takes a lot of workload off of my team, letting us focus on more important things. It's definitely worth it.

Cons

Making changes is always a bit scary, especially with respect to reboots. They also take a long time with no clear progress indication.

### "RDS Makes Life Easy"

December 18, 2019

5.0

Our primary datastores are kept encrypted and secure in RDS, and scale out to several areas without a hitch.

Pros

Managing a database can be very tedious, with lots of configuration management. RDS does the heavy lifting and makes database management easy and scalable.

Cons

My biggest complaint about RDS is that I did not find it sooner. It has saved countless hours of labour.

### "Amazon RDS is where it is at!"

April 24, 2018

5.0

Amazon RDS is the way to go for cloud databases. I store all my relevant data in this solution and I couldn't be happier!

Pros

I can easily store data in the cloud. It is cheap, easy to use, and the go to tool for data storage on the web.

Cons

I wish it had even smaller instances for startups, however the pricing is still really good so that is all that matters at this time.

### "Amazon RDS Review"

August 28, 2018

4.0

I used free version of Amazon RDS for initial stage of the startup. It worked great with all the requirements.

Pros

It supports most of the relational databases like Oracle, MySql and Postgre Sql. Great features like scalability, administration, high availability, API abilities, notifications, alarms, security and monitoring with low price. Suitable for all kind of applications like mobile, web and desktop.

Cons

Not granting super privilege for Mysql db users. Cannot import/export data directly for Oracle.

### "Amazon RDS Review"

April 12, 2020

4.0

We are exploring the services provided by AWS cloud and moving things to the cloud. So against the same, we are trying to explore the option of using the database services provided by Amazon RDS and doing POC for the same.

Pros

It is the best management tool for managing the database. It provides easy scaling of the database as and when required.

Cons

It's not a Cons but that's the only thing I have as a negative point. We need to keep track on the price charged for the service as there is a limitation for the free trial account.

### "A well managed RDS to use."

January 19, 2020

4.0

Well I will say one of the best managed RDS options available in market. It is value for money if you use it properly. Be careful about the costing or else you may end up with big charges.

Pros

Amazon RDS is easy to use relational database service as it is managed by Amazon. If someone is building their software and does not want to manage their DB and not concerned about how it is getting managed then this is the best option in market.

Cons

The only cons I can say is if you are not using in properly then you end up paying lots of money. So before start using it, make your research and see the related cost. Better to take some help from experts like which options to go for and how to monitor your cost.

### "Enterprise database without the hardware"

September 29, 2020

5.0

Overall my experience with RDS has been a good one. It's great for a small business looking to scale in the future.

Pros

What I like about RDS is the variety of database options from both a hardware and software standpoint. In addition, it's easy to have a database stood up within 10 to 15 minutes.

Cons

The fact that the database will start from a stopped state after 7 days is particularly annoying. This could be remedied by using lambda to shut it down, but that's added work. A simple email reminding you that the database is still stopped would suffice. Even if the reasoning is to run updates, would it not make sense to start, update, and then shut it back down if it was down previously?

### "High availability and highly customizable DB system with cost saving."

August 2, 2018

5.0

Pros

Easy to setup and start integrating to production environment. Very strong in terms of data security. Supports lots of Amazon cloud service options and third-party programs and APIs. Strong emphasis on securing server instances.

Cons

really, I can't think of any. It's not always perfect, for instance if missing a monitoring alert it more a result of the huge number of setting, but once mastered it's really awesome .

### "One of the most affordable and best performing Cloud Database "

December 27, 2022

4.0

Pros

Amazon RDS has a lot of great features, what I like the most is that how easy it is to manage a database in Amazon RDS. And also Amazon RDS keeps all the infrastructure management at bay, and I can focus just on using the database for my products. It also has automated backups and restoration is also very easy.

Cons

So far I have now complains but, It would be great if it has fixed monthly pricing model so that it is easier to estimate project costs.

### "One click relational DB"

April 5, 2018

5.0

Pros

It's incredibly simple to spin up a database server or cluster with full DR and redundancy. Plus, no server overhead.

Cons

The database versions lag slightly behind what you want and can get if you ran it yourself, and there's no galara clusters yet.

### "Robust managed database solution"

April 12, 2019

5.0

Pros

Once it's set up, it's robust. A stable database, nothing more nothing less. With added monitoring for server health and usage.

Cons

Some aspects and concepts of AWS are pretty complex. There are loads of docs, but you can also get quite lost in them.

### "Excellent, powerful but can be overwhelming"

June 13, 2020

5.0

AWS RDS is very powerful and has served us well to complement the scalable infrastructure for our applications.

Pros

If you're looking for a database service that can scale up to infinity, look no further, this is it. AWS RDS is one of the most widely used and scalable solutions for database hosting. It's simple yet provides an overwhelmingly amount of options for scalability, management and automation.

Cons

It requieres deep knowledge of the AWS ecosystem to be able to automate and scale efficiently. Not to mention that if you're planning to use it for a simple project, it can be very daunting to setup just RDS for it.

### "RDS is Great"

August 21, 2019

5.0

Pros

Amazon RDS saves me from the hassle of having to worry about backups, scalability and monitoring. It's indispensable if you have a large application which relies on SQL.

Cons

Only two cons about the product: 1. Customer support took several days to solve a critical problem I had with my account in the beginning of 2019. My service was down for two days, but this could have been sold easily if I got a faster response from the team. 2. Default max connections soft limit on MySQL databases is too low, which makes your service go down if you have a reasonable amount of traffic. I could solve that after a few hours researching how to change this configuration and also had a friend who uses RDS and had the same issue. We both almost stopped using it before knowing how to fix that.

### "A reliable relational database in a couple of clicks"

November 4, 2018

5.0

I set up RDS (MySQL) with different projects and loads and it never ever failed once in many years.

Pros

If you're on AWS and you need a relational database, forget about setting it up on your own instances and go straight to RDS: your database will be there in a couple clicks, with high availability, automatic upgrades and backups if you like. Then you can literally forget about it and just make sure you have enough space for your use case.

Cons

Rarely you may need to go a bit deeper on the hardware side to understand why your database is underperforming, and this is not possible with RDS.

### "Scalable and Available Database Solution"

September 11, 2018

5.0

It is a very fast connection to Amazons services, assuring you have a quality connection to the internet. This is an optimised solution for hosting databases with high IO than a standard instance. Amazon have great support packages available for business.

Pros

\> Comparable with all major rational database platforms, > Easy to manage and administrate > Keep an eye on costs and optimise usage with other AWS service such as CloudWatch. > Monitor Performance and configure alerting systems with ease. > Highly Available with support for cross-region replication

Cons

Hard to list many downsides other than the limitation for older versions of database engine which AWS will end support for. This is an issue for legacy systems that rely on certain version.

### "Scaleable databases"

May 7, 2019

5.0

Pros

Amazon RDS makes it easy to scale database when your application requires. Taking automated backups to an S3 bucket and restoring them is also very convenient. There is no need to setup database yourself when such an amazing hosted service is available. Amazon takes care of all optimizations and system upgrades. You do not have to worry about securing your database machine or about its performance.

Cons

For all their services, Amazon charges a premium. RDS is looks a bit expensive than setting up your own database but if calculated for man hours, it is definitely very cheap.

### "Cloud base Data"

March 13, 2019

5.0

My old man has a big database of tires, it's huge. And for his stores, he needed to access the data quick enough to give prices or stocks. We first try a local server, which wasn't as fast or as big as we needed. Amazon took the job and did it perfectly.

Pros

If you need some data on the cloud for your software, you can totally trust Amazon to do it. Their servers are totally protected and fast enough to give you the info you need. Even high portions of data can go into it without much problem.

Cons

The price can go sometimes high if some storage, but it's totally worth it if you need it to be secure and functional at all times.

### "Amazon RDS: Simple, flexible and highly scalable "

January 15, 2019

5.0

Pros

One of the best features of Amazon RDS is that is highly scalable. I like how easy it is to scale the CPU capacity and the RAM of any database without any downtime. The choice of choosing the DB type you need is another feature i really like a lot. Another thing that's worthy of mention is the cost. It's relatively very cheap, especially when compared to similar services.

Cons

The only thing I can point out here is that the initial implementation is time consuming and involves going through lots of steps.

### "The easiest database server "

February 10, 2021

5.0

RDS is without doubts a complex, hard to master system, but the basics are easy enough to kick off a project in very short time. In the long run you get a best in class reliability and performances without comparison.

Pros

Setting up a PostgreSQL server can be a daunting task and keeping it secure and protected is even more challenging. A managed database solution solves all this problems and many more. RDS in particular is quite easy to set up (at least in the basics) and it is very fast and reliable.

Cons

On the other hand there are a lot (I mean, a LOT) of options and settings, so the service is by no mean intended for causal users. A serious preliminary study of platform's usage is strongly advised.
