### "It has been an incredible stable and powerful tool to work with"

April 19, 2018

5.0

A Database in a secure environment, with great stability and availability. Awesome toolset to configure whatever you may need

Pros

It is very easy to configure and very stable, fast and powerful. The tools AWS gives for RDs is one of the best I have seen. Documentation is also very well written.

Cons

I cannot really find many disadvantages but I guess I could say is not entirely intuitive to set up. But if you get a hold of the documentation is fairly easy.

### "Managing a lot of database things you don't want to do yourself"

May 20, 2018

5.0

Pros

Gold standard in SaaS/IaaS database services. Handles many tasks and configuration options for you. Amazon Aurora is a great, fast and reliable database service available in RDS. Integrates well with other AWS services.

Cons

Ties one in to the AWS platform, particularly if you start using some of the best features like Aurora. The AWS console is not user-friendly. Can get quite expensive, but probably still cheaper than hiring highly-skilled people to manage your databases for you.

### "Autoscaling made visible"

March 27, 2019

4.0

Pros

I liked the onboarding process when establishing a new environment. Rather than go very deep into database nomenclature and Amazon lingo, the questions were relatively simple on the level of "how big would you expect your db to be" and "what sort of expected availability do you want in your db." This made it easy to try out things without immediately going to the Amazon documentation for something you don't understand because they were written in the AWS jargon.

Cons

Even small instances took some time to set up and destroy. Also, I didn't get too far into it at the beginning to explore myself, but I would have liked to see options for scaling and duplicating environments + data from specific tables rather than doing data copying/migrations by hand after setting up a new environment. Perhaps they have added this in since I last used it since they update RDS quite often.

### "Reliable service that encompasses your needs; safety included"

May 24, 2019

5.0

My team uses Amazon RDS to host an SQL database for machine learning applications that receives live updates. The server has proven reliable both for testing and development where we used different packages/clients to connect as well as in production. As we may deal with personal information the access control was very important for us and the ability to have multi-factor authentication as a base service rather than a premium service was a deciding factor while choosing this product.

Pros

A generous free tier that allows stress-free setup and getting to know the tools; Very reliable service, fulfilling the 99.9% uptime promise; Good integration with other Amazon products through the online console; Fine-grained control over user permissions, including requirements for multi-factor authentication access; Ability to use Google Authenticator (and several other providers) as MFA method; Plenty of backup plans and storage, easy and fast retrieval; The search facility of the online console allows finding a needle in a haystack;

Cons

Most of the more advanced settings are controlled by so-called policy files. Because of the sheer complexity of the Amazon system, these are quite hard to grasp at first and so it becomes relatively easy to introduce some unexpected behavior. A more from the ground introduction for new users would be useful.

### "Very fulfilled with the product overall. Would recommend to colleagues. "

July 18, 2018

5.0

Increased productivity & allowed more time to spend on activities that will ultimately grow my business

Pros

I was only personally involved in the front end set-up and implementation of this product but I have to say I was really taken back. In an industry where database management & retention are the largest means of revenue building having a trustworthy product is second to nothing. Amazon RDS with the ability to create and retain multiple databases along with its extremely user friendly, easily teachable platform & myriad of database types available I felt I made the right choice.

Cons

We always look to keep operational costs low when looking at the bottom line so that could be one reason that this product may turn some consumers off but when you look at the prices to hire a consultant in place of a product like Amazon RDS it starts to look more attractive.

### "Database Over Cloud"

September 12, 2018

5.0

Pros

With Amazon RDS, you longer need to install, set up and manage your database system. Just Choose suitable Database system, choose suitable instance type, configure a few things, and you database will be ready. You do not need to install or set up anything, amazon will take care of these things. You can straight away starting your database.

Cons

You will be charged a hefty amount for its services by Amazon.

### "RDS a few months in!"

October 9, 2018

5.0

Overall the AWS server platform has been awesome and over the few months of use continues to get better.

Pros

The admin section is very snappy and documentation / support has been extremely helpful when I raised questions.

Cons

While it is something coming hopefully in the future, the lack of load balancers can make troubleshooting overloaded servers difficult to determine if a higher CPU is required of if the current setup is 'enough' where as a load balancer would solve the issue.

### "We utilize Amazon ealational Database Service as a backend for a modest bunch of web applicatios"

March 29, 2018

5.0

Pros

Exceptionally adjustable. Bunches of Amazon cloud benefit choices and outsider projects, Application programming interfaces (APIs) accessible. Solid accentuation on securing server cases. Backings wide assortment of Windows and Linux servers. More affordable forthright expenses.

Cons

Poor value for the money. Confounding cluster of administrations. I don't accept conventional RDBMS have any business being generation databases these days, so I discover RDS' center around execution and solidness to be inefficient and diverting.

### "A relational database service has never been as simplified as Amazon RDS."

April 12, 2018

5.0

Pros

Amazon RDS I used it with another wonderful product from Amazon, which allows uploading and downloading files from the server. It helped me a lot because of the versatility it offers and the optimal coupling with stored procedures, all in the cloud.

Cons

Amazon RDS I really liked it. I have not had any problems with the operation, the architecture and the tools. But I emphasize that I have had little support at the technical support level.

### "Easy to use and setup"

August 12, 2021

RDS is very easy to use and providing some extended options. The support team is great. Providing backups, resource monitoring and auto-scaling.

Pros

Easy to set up and use. Payment is based on the usage. Efficient, scalable and resizeable.

Cons

There is nothing to dislike. RDS is enough for all my purposes.

### "My RDS Review"

October 28, 2018

5.0

Overall it is very easy to setup and use.

Pros

Amazon Aurora in RDS is the best feature of it. It is compatible with traditional MySQL so it can be easily migrated to Aurora. Aurora is fast and highly available which keeps almost 6 copies of data and can handle 2 simultaneous failures.

Cons

If you go with Aurora it is very costly compared to other databases. There is some limit on number of Instances and file size each instance can have.

### "If you have used AWS use this for your DB"

February 28, 2020

4.0

If you have an AWS stack is a must, especially if you Manage your databases from ec2 instances.

Pros

It manages well the db creates backups automatically, prices are reasonable and if you have an AWS stack is a must, managing a DB from an ec2 instance is complicated and not good .

Cons

The UI is kinda cumbersome and difficult to use, and it took a while for the EC2 server to connect to the RDS mariaDB DB I was running after that smooth sailing.

### "Amazon RDS"

December 4, 2019

5.0

Overall Amazon RDS is a pretty good solution, but it does come with its own problems like pricing and performance especially when compared to opensource NoSql solutions

Pros

Amazon RDS saves users from the process of backing up their data, scalability and monitoring solutions etc etc. It is extremely easy to take snapshots of RDS at any instance.

Cons

Amazon RDS security is not a quite high level. Also with so many NoSQL databases coming up these days, RDS is a difficult choice to make given that it lags behind those NoSql databases.

### "Stability and amazing features"

September 14, 2019

5.0

My overall experience with Amazon RDS has nothing but been amazing with the great customer support that they offer and consideration they provide for minor mistakes performed at our end.

Pros

The stability and reliability of this product make it an amazing choice. Also scalability is very easy with RDS and amazon overall because anytime you can select how much memory and storage you want based on the dynamic requirement

Cons

Though Amazon RDS is totally worth the money but for a company not so big it can get really problematic to fund for the same. They do have amazing plans if you compromise on the dynamic scalability which is not always possible.

### "Very fast and efficient RDS"

November 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

It was very easy to set up and migrate from an in-house relational database. It uses SQL for querying. If your app is running on aws it is even faster.

Cons

The security certificates can be complicated to get working correctly in a coroprate environment.

### "Relational Databases built on top of the powerful and resilient aws cloud"

October 5, 2020

5.0

Using RDS means I do not have to worry about backing up the databases regularly or worry about too much traffic.

Pros

The greatest feature of Amazon RDS like other aws services is auto-scaling and automatically backups. It takes away the burden of having to monitor the databases for performance.

Cons

Amazon RDS takes a lot of time to configure. There are too many configurations needed to get an instance up and running most especially on the web interface.

### "It was not for us."

December 12, 2023

5.0

My experience with Amazon RDS was a solid one. It allowed me to remote connect which is an added plus. It was secure, fast and stable for our needs. We just did not stay with it due to pricing.

Pros

It was a overall good database solution for or company that had a nice dashboard for management.

Cons

Dashboard was confusing as there was so many options. Perhaps some better overall training would be something to do before jumping in.

### "Managing databases is hard, RDS makes it easy"

March 6, 2019

5.0

I'm using RDS for my SaaS application. RDS saves me the hassle and time from managing my database on my own.

Pros

One click new database deployments and fully managed service with regular backups. Pricing is affordable too. Lots of databases to choose from, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and more.

Cons

Too many options while setting up a database which can easily get confusing for entry to mid-level developers.
