The staff is always supportive and can fix or point you in the right direction on how to fix the issue. Pros Our choice to go with TriNet saved us so much money. After the transition we were able to deep dive into their other product offerings and are working to replace two third party tools with a cost effective TriNet feature. The disconnect between what sales offers / promises and reality is significant. If I were an executive at TriNet, I would be concerned about retention and brand reputation. I will not recommend TriNet to anyone. Pros The sales experience was the highlight. Once we were handed off from sales to implementation the experience has been extremely negative in all aspects. Cons Where to start - the overall experience has been awful. Inconsistent messages, representatives (we haven't had one consistent rep since joining), process and pricing inconsistencies. As a small business with employees across multiple states, having a platform that is easy to navigate and user-friendly is important. TriNet also ensures that we stay compliant in all the states in which we operate! Cons I wish there was an option to offer multiple carriers for benefits. We can only offer one carrier, so if someone's doctors are out of network, they don't have any recourse. I am a returning customer for TriNet and it's far superior compared to other PEO's Pros The value of all the benefits that companies and employees obtain from TriNet is truly remarkable. It's a very comprehensive platform with great reporting capabilities and payroll is super easy and smooth to run. The platform also provides good security for personal information (multi-factor verification). Our company has been on a PEO model, and the TriNet-sponsored benefits have great options for all of our employees in addition to a super easy benefits election process during Open Enrollment period! Pros What I like most about TriNet is their continuous push for improvement across all their service, process, and products that benefit both existing clients and new SMBs. I have been using TriNet for over 6 years and have witnessed this positive change. I've observed that almost all of the changes over the years make a positive impact in my daily/weekly workflows, which is rare as I find that most tech changes are often design-related and not truly for a better user experience. TriNet also has a wonderful virtual community named The Wing, and we all connect and learn from each other in that community while completing challenges and earning points for rewards which makes the experience even greater! Cons I'd like to get more legal information on an employee-level. Our company is on a PEO model. If I did not have Admin/Manager-level access, I feel that I would not be as informed and would not know where to go to easily find certain information. I would also like TriNet to offer immediate access to virtual trainings such as Harassment/Discrimination and Workplace Violence Prevention upon a new hire. I have learned so much about HR through The Wing Community, and it has made me a better overall employee at the business I work for, with skills that I can take with me anywhere I go. Pros What I like most about TriNet is the customer service, seamless user interface, and The Wing community. Everything I need to conduct my HR duties is right there on the dashboard. If I ever need assistance with a task, a customer service representative is always there to resolve my issue quickly. If I need to provide more details, I like to create a case on the platform, and it is always resolved quickly as well. The Wing is a community of other HR administrators who also use TriNet where we can share and learn from each other and from TriNet. There are so many valuable resources there that have greatly increased my skills in all things HR-related. Cons A con that I have found with TriNet is some confusion on billing. I have noticed that some charges will appear on an invoice for prior periods, but it will not say that on the invoice. Pros I love the user-friendly platform for employees and administrators/managers to access things like benefits, PTO, pay information/statements, etc. It feels very intuitive and some elements of the dashboard allow for customization. Cons Sometimes we have an issue with getting complete answers to complex questions submitted by employees and administrators - this usually only applies to questions that require more nuance in thinking through the issue or question at hand and how it should be correctly and completely addressed. It has not always been smooth but over the last 3-4 years it has improved tremendously. Currently, LOAs and Workers Compensation are my only pain point. I will also add that the benefits offerings are far too many and it is confusing and overwhelming to staff. I have expressed a desire to reduce our company's offerings numerous times but we have not been able to do so. Pros TriNet's payroll team is very helpful and efficient. We rarely have payroll related concerns and can rely on their support. Cons TriNet's LOA process is tedious and flawed. Information is not properly communicated to all parties involved. Poor training Poor communication Poor onboarding Bullying Bureaucracy Pros TriNet should be a good platform for streamlining payroll and healthcare. Unfortunately their service fails them continuously. Cons Bureaucracy and bullying. Complete failure to deliver R&D tax credits over a FOUR YEAR period. If you are a small business do not allow TriNet to claim your R&D tax credits as we have been trying to recover our from them for over 3 years. TriNet give no assistance or service in filing for these refunds and then blame you, the small business customer for missing details. They then withhold you refunds until ALL of their customers returns are approved by the IRS so you are actually penalised for being a TriNet subscriber. TriNet explain aware their service failures as policy and consistently fail in onboarding and support. They are actually very damaging to small businesses as they will terminate your contract for minor infractions with no notice and no ability to remedy. When they terminate your contract they withhold your employees payroll despite the fact that they have no credit risk. Communication is prompt—typically within a few hours when we need assistance—which makes a significant difference in our overall experience. Pros TriNet removes the burden of staying compliant with state employment laws and regulations. They manage all employer-related filings across the states where we have employees, and payroll is calculated, processed, and reported accurately without requiring hands-on involvement from our team. This automation gives us confidence that everything is handled correctly and on time. Cons Accessing certain reports can be challenging. Some reports are not readily available within the system and must be requested directly, which is not always obvious unless you already know they exist. It helped us organize everything we needed as a new organization. It helped a lot that they were able to trouble shoot any issues which took a huge weight off of us. Like I said it's a reliable platform functionally but it doesn't have the most refined UI. It was mostly used for HRIS data and payroll and wasn't as great as expected. Pros I liked that everything was all on the home page and there was a chat feature that I used quite often. I especially appreciate the "Estimate Balance" feature on the Time Off page, which allows you to view the exact date at which you will hit your earned PTO cap. This has enabled me to always make sure I take off time before I hit my cap, and avoid losing out on well-earned PTO. The TriNet mobile app also gives you access to most, if not all, of the same features that the web browser version offers, so you can check any work-related details you might need to on the go. Cons There is honestly nothing I dislike about TriNet. Our company had no cohesive, one stop shop for all of the services TriNet provides until we switched to TriNet, so it solved all of our problems with one software. Review Source JT Jared T. However, once you get over the minimum threshold to compete in the insurance market, then TriNet is of little value. Pros TriNet is easy to use and provides all you need from a payroll, benefit and HR perspective. Cons The overall cost is high and the health insurance benefits are low to average quality, with fairly high deductibles and poor coverage. Reason for choosing TriNet We switched from TriNet after we found better alternatives that work much more cost effective. Review Source Margaret W. Also, it was very cost effective. Pros This was one of the easiest apps to train people on. Even those staunch pencil pushers really like how easy it was to scan receipts from the mobile app and it would automatically sync with the desktop app, I loved the fact that it was compatible with QuickBooks desktop when we were using it and it saved us hours of keying in the information. It had cut the expense processing time by at least 2/3. Cons I was really upset when TriNet decided not to support QB desktop and now supports QB online only. We have to have the desktop version of QB due to our inventory tracking system not available in QB Online. I had to terminate our contract with TriNet. Also, they did not have customizable reporting 3 years ago. Not sure if they do now or not.
