Managing Director & Global Chief Marketing & Technology Officer Information Services Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Pleasantly surprised at technical accuracy of transcriptions" May 25, 2021 5.0 Overall, I'm pretty satisfied/pleasantly surprised with HappyScribe. I've used Rev.com in the past and was disappointed by their human transcriptions/translations (not even the AI tool), so glad to see something that works well. I know Rev has improved upon their tool as well since then but I was pretty disappointed by the level of output last time. Pros Most of my transcriptions involve very technical financial terms, and I have various speakers from around the world with different accents. HappyScribe has been able to handle the technical terms and the various accents (I love that there's a choice to indicate what kind of accent it is) better than I expected. The proofreading tool is very useful. Cons I haven't experienced any negative issues so far. Can't think of anything I don't like at this time. Review Source JJ Jessie J. You can both transcribe and create captions and the process is seamless. The ability to work with different languages is a big plus. Cons The identification of different speakers doesn't work well and should be improved. Further, there's always room for improvement in the speech recognition itself, although it's already more than usable. Searching for text in a transcription is cumbersome because the search action doesn't move the cursor to the right location. Review Source JR Jonathan R. The biggest downside is that it isn't as accurate with its voice-to-text as I was hoping. Thus, it still takes our team 4+ hours to transcribe a 1-hour podcast. Pros I like how easy it is to upload an audio file and have the audio transcribed. The page has a visual guide that highlights the words as the audio plays so you know where to find your spot to edit the transcription. Cons The biggest drawback is that the editing time still takes so long because the voice-to-text transcription is only about halfway accurate even with good audio. Review Source Maureen M. No long waiting periods and I can immediately incorporate captions on my vdieo in a variety of styles. Pros This is a must-have to make your videos more accessible on social media. I like most the ability to get the transcription and generate subtitles in the same tool. Cons The speech to text technology here is not perfect but close enough to save time if you've been doing it manually. If your transcript is highly technical, you'll want to use something like Rev. Cons Once in a while the subtitling function seems to ignore silent moments in videos, resulting in time code mismatches that require a lot of reformatting. Review Source Raul F. I used it for adding subtitles to educative videos for online courses. I first asked some people how they preferred the videos (with or without the subtitles). All of them liked more with subtitles. So I tested with our usual language (Spanish) and it worked great. It was 98% accuracy, that it is amazing, and even the other 2% we noticed when we have to pronounce better. Easy to fix with the editor and overall and enjoyable process with professional results. Also great for promotional videos in Facebook when there is no sound on preview. Cons I am very happy with the software in general. It allows options like changing the color, style and size of the fonts. Even the background. Also allows to save the subtitles as an external file to later add to the edition software. Review Source KW Karen W. Owner Design Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Happy Scribe makes me a Happy Camper" May 20, 2021 5.0 This software is pretty much plug and play. I upload my video, ask it to do subtitles and it does it. It is very easy to go back through and check for accuracy. So very low learning curve and great accuracy. I am very pleased. Pros I am delighted about how well this software does with voice recognition. It is usually spot on unless someone says a proper name or a theme. Cons At this point I don't see any actual negatives. I do have one video that has a lot of outside noise and it was harder for the software to be accurate but I am not surprised by that. Review Source Fraser N. Pros It's ease of use and nice interface make it a pleasure to use. Very simple to upload a variety of sources of audio for transcription and it is very accurate for machine transcription. Cons No real negatives to be honest in terms of use but some more non Zapier integrations would be nice, especially a native Zoom integration. Review Source EB Erik B. I only had to review and make small corrections Pros It recognizes texts almost perfectly, without having problems with small noises on this background. It accepts many audio formats and has a good free trial. The in-app transcript shows the times and the different people speaking. When you download it, it remains in a word document Cons The application is really incredible, it is very easy to use and meets expectations. Great accuracy, lots of languages available, and a new tool to translate transcribed audio. Cons Pricing is a little steeper than similar tools, but if you're transcribing languages other than English, or need automated translations that are pretty accurate, it's all worth it.
