### "Climbing Mountiains with a Duck"

February 17, 2020

5.0

This is one of the best utilities for connecting to cloud services. Having an S3 bucket or Synology share auto-mount at login is such a time saver! Makes it so easy to add or connect to numerous services, including direct read/write of files (which we can't do with FTP).

Pros

The ease of connecting to services was great. Having multiple services that we can connect to automatically at login saves users a TON of time (and IT) . We use it everyday for remote mounting of NAS volumes (so easy!).

Cons

The interfaces is minimal (good/bad), and there isn't a ton of info in error screens, so you have to dig for info if something goes wrong.

Alternatives considered

[Layer2 Cloud Connector](https://www.capterra.com/p/169874/Cloud-Connector/)

Reason for choosing Mountain Duck

The cost for implementation of 6 users was far below other products. The support is quick to respond to any questions.

### "Mountain Duck v3"

April 12, 2020

4.0

Overall positive, author is clearly working on the application and every new version sees measurable improvements. Some issues are, unfortunately, can't be quickly fixed due to the reliance on 3rd-party libraries.

Pros

Multitude of endpoints supported, fair integration with Windows OS

Cons

Caching feature isn't great, SSH mounts need to be restarted from time to time, lacks support of some newer cipher suits.

Alternatives considered

[CloudMounter](https://www.capterra.com/p/153524/CloudMounter/)

Reason for choosing Mountain Duck

Price-to-performance and long history of "Cybeduck" development (another product from the same author).

### "Product - OK, Customer service - poor"

February 17, 2020

3.0

Pros

This software supposedly works on Macs and Windows, to a variety of back end services. If your organisation is very diverse (and you can get it working), then this is the tool for you.

Cons

I could never get it working properly on Windows, so gave up trying to use it 8 years ago. Since then, the company have sent me regular updates and invitations to take part in surveys - but have totally ignored all my requests to stop the spam.

Reason for choosing Mountain Duck

I didn't - I used BC before and still use BC every day - Cyberduck just didn't compare

You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at https://lists.cyberduck.io/mailman/listinfo/cyberduck-news. You can reach us at support@mountainduck.io for any support. We have introduced Mountain Duck in 2016. Probably you confused it with Cyberduck available from https://cyberduck.io/ available since 2004. Mountain Duck lets you mount server and cloud storage as a disk in Finder on macOS and the File Explorer on Windows. Open remote files with any application and work like on a local volume is available from https://mountainduck.io/.

### "The best option out there!!"

May 18, 2022

5.0

Great, everything very fluid and adapts perfectly to the user

Pros

Being able to add cloud storage to the Finder as if it were a disk is great! The synchronization is almost at the moment, it works perfectly and there are almost no crashes.

Cons

Perhaps the customer service could be a little better (it's great, but could be better), it's the only aspect that I noticed something "wrong"

### "Mountain Duck review"

February 18, 2020

4.0

I realy like the selective synchronization and cryptomator integration; before I was using unison but now I quite happy with Mountain Duck except the lack of Spotlight integration.

Pros

\- selective synchronization of folders for offline usage - cryptomator - integration with native finder - support of ssh, s3, dropbox, webdav - support of gpg-agent and external ssh hardware key

Cons

\- no integration with spotlight - very low timeout on waiting external ssh hardware key; my key has an hardware button to confirm the request but if I am not so fast to push it the authentication fails and mountain duck prompt a dialog to configure ssh.

Reason for choosing Mountain Duck

### "Best FTP Client I've ever used"

October 18, 2020

5.0

Overall the best FTP client I've ever used. It makes my daily work life so much easier!

Pros

Transferring files via FTP directly in the windows explorer makes life so much easier! Great features like file encryption or managing FTP bookmarks. You can even connect with other file hosting services like Dropbox or Google Drive. Stable and fast connection.

Cons

It would be great to see more clearly the progress of the file transfer directly in the windows explorer window.

### "More trouble than it is worth"

February 29, 2020

2.0

I regret selecting this software.

Pros

The promise of having the ability to mount cloud drives that look like local volumes to my non-techincal users, especially the integration with Cryptomator.

Cons

I am continually having to troubleshoot issues with the software not automatically mounting, files failing to sync with no explicit opportunity to rectify, continual requests to enable Finder extension, syncs that cannot be stopped or corrected, corrupted caches, inability to enable logs to send in for support, lack of support forum confirmation emails... the list goes on and on. I \*tried\* to use this software on both Mac and PC.

Reason for choosing Mountain Duck

The promise of the product that it did not live up to.

### "Great software, a must for anyone that uses cloud storage products and windows servers/desktops"

February 19, 2020

5.0

I have a lot of atypical server migration scenarios from server which do not always function great. This software provides an extremely useful bridge when OEM tools won't even lauch. I found it extremely useful.

Pros

Easy to download, install, and understand how to use.

Cons

Connection to microsoft services could be a little cleaner. Copying codes from a browser to the application is clunky, though that may be microsoft's fault. Mountain duck has a sync feature, but for file cache and not for folder syncing which is in Cyberduck. I think it would compliment Mountainduck to have this much used feature without needing a separate application.

Reason for choosing Mountain Duck

iterate's website is less cluttered, veary easy to find the download links, cyberduck is otherwise free (donationware) instead of a paid product which is nice for the community. Cloudberry has free S3 explorer too, but they have fragmented software for connecting to different services last time I checked. I'm sure they aren't bad, but I just found myself using Mountainduck more.

### "Great application"

February 17, 2020

5.0

Very satisfied, using it with Dropbox, Google and other cloud storage. Easily move and copy files from one to the other, as I am using windows explorer. I can mount them automatically or mount the once I rarely use as soon as I need them. Its a great software for the ones like me how are using 1 or 15 cloud storage services.

Pros

\- convenient and simple to use - can add most of my cloud services and use them easy on my PC as folders -

Cons

the way to backup all my settings - extra option in the app for export/import settings would be great.

### "Excellent remote storage mounting & integration app"

February 18, 2020

5.0

Sometimes you need to interact with a web server (for example) as if it were a locally mounted drive. FTP clients and be slow and clunky when doing this. Mountain Duck makes this process much more natural and smooth, as if you were working with a local disk.

Pros

Intuitive and well-thought out design. Lots of options for different connections that you can mount locally. Integration with Cyberduck is a bonus. Offline and selective syncing options offer a lot of flexibility.

Cons

No issues I've run into lately. I started off with the private beta way back when and helped out by reporting bugs and errors, and was happy with the responsiveness of the developers in fixing problems. That was all years ago now. Lately, the software has been great.

### "Mejora el acceso a tus servidores FTP"

May 4, 2022

5.0

### "Excellent Choice"

April 5, 2020

5.0

Pros

It's easy to set up, but you should make sure to read the installation manual online. It's not as self-explanatory as, say, Boxcryptor, but it's simple enough. It would be nice if there was more information on the cryptomator integration online.

Cons

There's a bit of a learning curve, and I get some random errors every so often. I'm hoping those will pan-out soon as more updates come along.
