Overall Jira is great for organising work, tracking progress and keeping teams on schedule. However, it’s often a steep learning curve for new users, and can also be expensive but highly effective overall.

Pros

\- Easy to organise and track work in one place. - Great visibility of project progress and various team workloads. - Helps my teams stay organised, accountable and on schedule.

Cons

\- Can be very overwhelming for our new users as it has many features and settings - Can also be very expensive

Pros

Easy to use, lots of template options available, easy to collaborate and message other users, privacy management settings are great

Cons

Can be limited by plan templates, wish there were more to-do list settings rather than cards. Hard to organize completed items in order of date.

Pros

Super intuitive platform and great customer support. With AI, projects are now easier to organize and plan with your team.

Cons

If your team is big, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan. Even if costs are not low, it will worth it.

Overall, my experience with Jira has been quite positive. I regularly use it to manage projects and collaborate with my team, and its features have made it easier to track progress and stay organized. However, there are some limitations that prevent me from giving it a full 5-star rating.

Pros

I like Jira's project management features, especially the board view, which works well enough for our team's workflow. It's pretty solid for tracking progress and assigning tasks.

Cons

I'm not a huge fan of Jira's pricing model, which can get pretty expensive for larger teams. It took a bit to figure out the best plan for our company size.

Jira solves the problem of losing track of where certain elements of a project are located through tying related documents/issues together. Amazingly enough, the Slack integration sends updates instantly without dropping or failing to send messages. These types of integrations typically fail. Our startup costs were reasonable however once we started customizing each individual workflow it took FOREVER. At least with Jira I don't have to retype every step to reproduce in order to write down the steps to reproduce as they remain in the description field.

Pros

It's nice you can make updates to your jira issues with natural language shortcuts as opposed to having to fill out form after form. Honestly I was mainly worried about how the "smart" automation would be able to do all of my redundant updates without completely screwing up my board (which I've seen happen), and so far at least the automation hasn't broken anything.

Cons

I can barely use the date filter criteria function for searching for a particular user's work from last month. This doesn't make any logical sense for a tool used for tracking projects.

It provides a structured way to manage requests, follow up on action items, and maintain transparency between teams. I like that it creates a central place where everyone can see priorities and updates instead of working through scattered communication channels. After getting familiar with the system, Jira becomes a dependable tool for organizing complex workflows and improving team efficiency.

Pros

I appreciate how easily tasks can be assigned, prioritized, and tracked across facilities, IT, HR, and administrative teams. The visibility provided through dashboards and reports helps in understanding workloads, pending activities, and project progress without relying on multiple spreadsheets or emails.

Cons

Jira offers a lot of customization, but that can sometimes make the platform feel complicated for occasional users. Setting up workflows and permissions may require additional training or support from an administrator. For simple operational tasks, the number of available features can feel a little overwhelming.

My overall experience with Jira Software has been exceptionally positive, particularly when it comes to maintaining structure, accountability, and visibility across complex projects. Once configured properly, it acts as the central nervous system for team operations and sprint management.

Pros

Agile Depth: Industry-leading Scrum/Kanban boards, backlog grooming, sprint tracking, and burndown analytics. Process Control & Automation: Unmatched workflow customization with JQL (Jira Query Language) for granular filtering and reporting. Ecosystem Integration: Connects seamlessly with GitHub, Bitbucket, Confluence, Slack, and thousands of marketplace apps.

Cons

Steep Learning Curve: The interface and terminology can feel intimidating for non-technical teams or new users. Risk of Admin Bloat: Highly configurable, making it easy to over-engineer with too many custom fields and complex approval steps.

Pros

Jira has proven to be the most effective project management tool for our team, especially for sprint planning, thanks to its useful board views. The customizable workflows allow us to adapt the tool to our actual working methods. The JQL search feature facilitates quick access to old tickets and issue filtering. Additionally, seamless integration with Confluence and Bitbucket enhances our productivity within the Atlassian ecosystem, while automations help reduce manual tasks like ticket assignment and issue movement when pull requests are merged.

Cons

Onboarding new users to Jira presents a notable learning curve, often taking weeks for them to feel comfortable due to a cluttered UI and a convoluted navigation process. Additionally, the rising pricing may deter smaller teams, as they may end up paying for unused features. The mobile app functionality is decent but not impressive, making complex tasks cumbersome on smartphones.
