### "Not Great, not terrible"

November 10, 2024

3.0

Using Jira feels a bit like working with an old partner—reliable, but rough around the edges. It gets the job done, sure, and when it’s working smoothly, you appreciate the structure it brings. It helps you keep track of every detail, and when you’re neck-deep in issues, that’s a lifesaver. But it’s not always quick, or clean. Sometimes it makes you jump through hoops to get simple things done. You get bogged down in configurations, settings that don’t play nice together, and the whole thing can feel heavier than it should. It’s like trying to get answers from a witness who keeps dodging questions—you’ll get there eventually, but not without some frustration. Overall, Jira’s solid. It’s got the tools you need to keep things moving, but don’t expect it to hold your hand. You’ve got to be willing to put in the time to make it work for you.

Pros

Jira? Yeah, it’s got its perks. It’s a tool that doesn’t just let you keep tabs on a job; it lets you really see it—track each issue, each lead, like it’s right in front of you. The workflows? They’re flexible, like good disguises. You can twist them to fit any shape. Agile boards help keep things under control—like a good stakeout, you get your sprints, your backlogs, keep everyone moving in the right direction. And then there's the integrations… fits with just about anything, like it was built to blend in. Reports and analytics? Those are the real truth-tellers. They don’t lie. They show you who’s keeping up, who’s falling behind. And the automations—well, those let you set things on autopilot. I like that. In my line of work, anything that does some of the heavy lifting for you… it’s a welcome tool. Yeah, Jira’s a good partner, long as you don’t forget who’s in control.

Cons

Jira’s got its ups and downs. It’s a tool that tries to do a little bit of everything, but sometimes that means you’re dealing with too much noise and not enough signal. It can feel bloated, like it’s trying to be the hero of every job, when really, it just needs to get the basics right. Customizing anything? That can take you down a rabbit hole. You end up sifting through layers, settings buried under more settings, just to get it working how you need. Performance is another thing—it’ll drag its feet at the worst times. You want to get in, make a few updates, and get out, but it’s like you’re wading through molasses. And notifications? You’ll get hammered with them unless you shut most off, which kind of defeats the purpose. It’s powerful, sure. But it could use a little more finesse and a lot less complication.

### "A fundamental tool for ticket management."

November 3, 2024

5.0

We had two experiences with Jira: one in early 2014, one in 2020. The first one was a bit painful as it was setup by an external expert who didn't have a clear vision of our company's workflow. Meanwhile Jira changed and evolved and in 2020 we were able to set up everything on our own matching our own workflows. We've been working on in it continuosly updating it as our company grow.

Pros

One of the most complete time tracking and ticket management tools. Provides the tools to build in-depth flows that fit your own workflow and adapt it to your own changes.

Cons

It requires some pre-setup thinking and adjustment to properly match your workflow. It doesn't handle multiple assignees to tasks out of the box.

Alternatives considered

[Trello](https://www.capterra.com/p/211559/Trello/)[Asana](https://www.capterra.com/p/184581/Asana-PM/)

Reason for choosing Jira

Jira seemed to be the most complete solution.

### "Jira- An A+ Software for Scrum"

April 23, 2025

4.0

Pros

The best thing is that it is a part of the Atlassian ecosystem. It gives a very organized system for tickets, especially in technical roles and is very useful in a Scrum team. The benefit of the ecosystem is that it is linked to Bitbucket and Confluence so it is a really neat system.

Cons

One thing I do not like about Jira is the discussion system. For every ticket, they still only have a comments section to discuss about it when they should adopt a threads based discussion system for tickets.

### "Productivity "

January 25, 2026

5.0

Overall, i think Jira has been very cohesive for our team as it makes collaboration easy thereby bringing the team more than ever. Through this, we have been able to save more and more productive.

Pros

Jira is a hosehold name in managing my technology projects. My team no longer need to worry about project stages and communications as Jira accirately manages our work and we all know what each other is doing even in a diagramatic representation and it's quite easy to use.

Cons

Initially, Jira was complicated to use for some of my team members especially those who have not used it before now. However, with proper onboarding, freshers have been able to adapt quickly to new features and manage their work.

### "Works well with other apps"

July 29, 2025

5.0

Overall, my experience with Jira has been positive. It's a powerful tool for managing complex projects, especially in Agile environments. I appreciate how customisable it is — from workflows and issue types to permissions and automation. Once properly configured, it becomes a central hub for team collaboration, task tracking, and reporting.

Pros

Integration with Other Tools – Seamlessly integrates with tools like Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, Slack, and more.

Cons

You can get way too Many Notifications. The default notification settings can flood your inbox unless fine-tuned.

### "Great tool for managing projects!"

November 8, 2024

5.0

Pros

Jira offers an excellent platform for managing multiple projects efficiently, especially when working across diverse teams. It provides a highly customizable experience, particularly in terms of time tracking and effort estimation, which makes tracking progress clear and comprehensive. Adding details to tasks and subtasks is straightforward, ensuring that nothing important is overlooked. The ability to clone tickets is a standout feature, saving time when similar tasks need to be created or duplicated for different projects. Additionally, the state management on the boards is smooth, allowing users to easily move tasks between statuses and keep the whole team in sync on project progress. Overall, Jira is an essential tool for organized, effective project management with great flexibility to meet team needs.

Cons

One area that could use improvement is email notifications. They often feel cluttered and overwhelming, making it difficult to focus on the most relevant updates. A more streamlined approach to notifications would enhance the user experience and help prioritize the most important information.

### "Incredible Task Management Tool"

April 16, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with Jira has been positive. I use Jira to submit tasks or flag bugs with our software to the engineering team so that they can prioritize their work. You can customize the fields that you add to the ticket to ensure that all the necessary information is communicated to the respective party that needs to take action on that task.

Pros

It’s a very efficient way of submitting tasks to development teams in an organized way so that they can plan out their work.

Cons

Similar to salesforce there are a lot of customizations and features that you can enable that make it less user-friendly. But for the developer audience and engineering teams it’s a well designed product.

### "The world of software engineers through eye of Jira software tool."

November 4, 2024

Talking about my experience with gira since I am using jeera more than 5 years so I have positive experience with Jeera in case of project management and issue tracking perspective. I feel that jira is a great tool for cross team communication, if we have jira we does not required extra communication channels . Jira can support any type of project and work with thousands of apps and integrations

Pros

I like jira most features like jeera integrate with variety of quality assurance apps like sonarqube, Jenkins etc. Using jira software developer can customize Jara project with configurable and organisation structure work flow level of agility maturity.

Cons

As per my opinion the learning for work means within the jira it's difficult to learn especially for new users might be too complex. Personally I faced problem while uploading more number of files size issue as the limited file size upload.

### "From Simply to Complex, Jira have You Covered."

February 7, 2025

4.0

So far, I've enjoyed using Jira. It allows us to plan, execute, and monitor all life cycles. Each team can build their dashboards as complexly as needed according to each team's needs, so you can use it on both the basics and more complex ends. Once implemented, productivity will increase.

Pros

Jira is a highly customizable tool (I personally customize my dashboards a lot) and an intuitive platform to use and manage. It can easily be integrated with existing systems and boosts collaboration and automation of tasks. Reliable and secure to the environment as well.

Cons

The learning curve could be quite complex if you are new to this kind of more robust-end system.

### "Comprehensive Review: Jira – The Powerhouse for Project Management "

October 7, 2024

5.0

Actually, experience with Jira is just great because it really supports powerful project management tools, flexible workflows, and the integration of other ascribed tools such as Slack or Confluence. Nonetheless, it is hard to cover its depth even for a single user, much less for new users; however, Jira is useful for projects of larger scale and cross-team collaboration.

Pros

Jira's versatility, customizable workflows, visibility, integrations, automation, and Agile support.

Cons

Jira's steep learning curve, and occasional slow, cluttered interface for beginners.

### "Jira has been a great tool for the development team"

April 3, 2025

5.0

We use Jira in development, and it has been a great tool to break down a big project that we are currently handling. We have divided the project into phases and subsequently into tasks that are easily to follow up for all the team and specially our project manager

Pros

Jira is a great tool to keep track of tasks and projects. Great for breaking down big projects into comprehensive steps and to keep syncronicity and collaboration within the teams.

Cons

Its a great tool, but one thing I could suggest is to make a section with tutorials videos for beginners since it might take some time to get a grip of the tool

October 12, 2024

4.0

In my experience managing large teams of developers in different parts of the world, it has been a vital application in managing projects and work and keeping things on the move and transparent, but of course, it requires the adoption of good processes and workflows.

Pros

It's probably the most popular PM application in the tech space, especially in enterprise or if you manage large teams for agile practices

Cons

Administration can get complex at times, mainly if you are not dedicated or focused on being a scrum master or PM
