### "A wonderfully feature rich collaboration tool for software developers"

March 20, 2026

4.0

Jira is probably the best collaboration tool for larger software development teams. There is a lot that goes into setting it up and learning how to use it, but it's totally worth it.

Pros

Jira is a wonderful project collaboration tool for teams of all sizes. The flexibility and versatility in software development allows for excellent management from the task level all the way up to large projects. The reporting and visual diagrams are key for any executive team. Jira's customer support is always ready to help.

Cons

Jira is feature rich and as such is not a cheap product. You will need a dedicated team to manage this software as it is not easy to setup and maintain.

### "A comprehensive solution for Agile teams"

December 30, 2025

5.0

Jira is an incredibly reliable platform that scales perfectly with the size of a project. I've found it to be the best tool for keeping a clear backlog and managing sprints. It isn't always the fastest or most intuitive interface, but once you have your workflows dialed in, it’s a powerhouse for productivity. It's my go-to for technical project management.

Pros

What I like most is how perfectly it supports Agile methodologies. The Scrum and Kanban boards are incredibly detailed, and features like Backlog grooming and Sprint planning are built-in natively. It makes managing a complex development lifecycle much more structured than simpler task managers.

Cons

At times, the interface can feel a bit sluggish, especially when dealing with large backlogs or complex projects with many custom fields. I’ve noticed that loading times for boards and reports can be a little slow, which can be frustrating when you’re trying to make quick updates during a meeting.

### "Why I Considered To Work With Jira?"

August 24, 2025

5.0

I would recommend Jira to anyone who has had it ruff finding a software which is good in project and tasks management.

Pros

Jira has improved features and they have a very vibrant customer support. I like the way it is easy for me to collaborate projects with teams and get them done fast and in a beautiful manner. I am able to manage tasks in an easy without having to struggle much.

Cons

I have been amazed with this platform and it's capabilities are also marvellous. I haven't had it ruff with Jira.

### "Powerful but can be overwhelming"

April 6, 2026

5.0

Overall, I found Jira to be a powerful and flexible project management tool that works very well for managing complex workflows, but it took time to learn and can feel overwhelming at first.

Pros

I liked the highly customisable workflows, powerful Agile tools, strong scalability for large teams, and the wide range of integrations available.

Cons

I found the learning curve quite steep, the interface sometimes overly complex and cluttered, occasional slow performance with large datasets, and the pricing less suitable for smaller teams like the team I work with.

Switched from

[monday CRM](https://www.capterra.com/p/245800/Monday-CRM/)

I initially used Monday because it was easy to set up and visually intuitive, but as my projects became more complex, I found it lacked the depth and flexibility I needed. I switched to Jira mainly for its advanced task management, customisable workflows, and better support for Agile methodologies like Kanban. Jira also gave me more control over issue tracking, dependencies, and detailed project structures, which made it a better fit for managing more technical and large-scale projects.

### "good for a corporate, but needs significant and thoughtful configuration "

January 9, 2026

4.0

Liked it in corporates, with the critical proviso that the configuration has been done thoughtfully and carefully with workflows and statuses well matched to the reality on the ground - the system administrators must be very close to the actual people using it in order to have a set-up that really works. For a small start-up or an agile environment, the tool and the setup overall is just too heavy and locks you into too much structure too early, so didn't find it suitable

Pros

Easy navigation through the jungle of issues and tickets. Provides a well-documented record of issues and requests. Good collaboration and sharing across the team. AUdit trail

Cons

complexity. Requires heavy conficguration to be really effective. COnfig and custom fields need to be well thought out before implementing. Copy-paste of a previous implement is easy to do, but quick and often too dirty for a new context. Config and overall setup / workflow definition, is fine for a high-volume corporate setup, but too heavy and constraining for an agile startup environment

### "Keep everyone on track with Jira"

January 21, 2026

5.0

My team lives in Jira. The developers and the business are always in sync and we're always notified when projects and defects get status updates.

Pros

I live in Jira. It has all of team's tasks laid out in an intuitive way so I know when it's time for me to take the baton and advance the project as needed.

Cons

The administrator needs to take great care upon initial setup. The first look at our Jira setup can be extremely daunting to someone who is new to the organization.

### "Amazing tracking tool for small and big projects"

March 4, 2026

3.0

Pros

Multiple projects you can create and link to create dependencies, multiple boards in a single project, easily customisable Kanban boards that can do what you need.

Cons

Workflow management is less intuitive. Even when I create a simple workflow between Jira item statuses and put some basic rules on them, the workflow easily can hit a wall. There are hidden rules/steps.

Pros

Jira is a very helpful for our team for project collaboration and task management. It is a powerful tool and highly reliable for our team to manage projects effectively.

Cons

### "A good choice for a well integrated ticket managing system"

April 24, 2026

4.0

Pros

We pivoted into using it for Tickets and less full project managment and once you have it set up working with automations and AI features its amazin. Now that its running its adding real value in the whole bug tracking to code changes (bitbucked) pipeline

Cons

The setup of the whole Integrations was a pain, and especially for the AI features we wanted we had to do quite a few work arounds

### "Jira - fantastic if you know how to use it. "

August 7, 2025

4.0

Jira gave us structure during periods of high output and complexity especially for cross-functional projects. While we’ve scaled back our usage due to budget reasons, we still rely on it for certain planning processes. If you have the resources to configure and manage it properly, it’s a brilliant tool for visibility and accountability across teams. Just be mindful of the learning curve and long-term cost.

Pros

Jira is incredibly powerful when it comes to tracking work across teams. The customisation options are a real highlight. For example, we liked that you can tailor boards, workflows, and automations to fit almost any process. For planning, we found it especially useful to visualise projects, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress in a way that kept everyone aligned. The integrations with other tools (like Slack and Confluence) also added a lot of value.

Cons

Personally, I found that it can be overwhelming if you don’t have someone internally who really understands how to configure it properly. The setup isn’t always intuitive for non-technical teams, and without regular maintenance, it can get messy quickly. Also, we found that the cost can really add up, particularly for smaller teams or companies looking to simplify their tool stack.

Alternatives considered

[Asana](https://www.capterra.com/p/184581/Asana-PM/)

Reason for choosing Jira

Because we needed more robust functionality around task dependencies, custom workflows, and sprint planning. Jira gave us greater flexibility to tailor project structures to different teams, and its features around issue tracking and agile reporting were a better fit for the level of complexity in our workstreams. While Asana is more user-friendly out of the box, Jira offered the depth and scalability we needed as we grew.

### "Advanced user but still has to fumble around"

July 30, 2025

4.0

I am a project admin but work with agile leaders to configure the projects for multiple teams. I have also connected through the API backend to build reports and reconcile / groom projects.

Pros

It simplifies burn down reporting, allows users to manually enter and submit tickets and stories for sprints. I like that the different task types (story vs epic, etc.) can be customized to have their own fields. And I like the history feed on each work item.

Cons

It frustrates me that I’m unable to easily bounce from BLI sprint view to swim lane / Kanban view, and being able to revert or remove imposed fields when the wrong template was selected. These make the tool so cumbersome and time prohibitive that employees stop using the tool altogether.

### "JIRA - Tracking Inquiries for Teams"

March 23, 2026

5.0

We use Jira as an HR team to track and assign inquiries. It has helped us analyze the inquiry output and input that our team receives. The platform was easy to learn, and it is very user friendly. Our team was able to learn the platform in less than a day, and we've experienced seamless and streamlined use since moving to the platform.

Pros

Jira is a streamlined, easy to use platform that has drastically improved our ability to track and respond to inquiries. We are able to assign tickets, track progress, and easy access for review or analysis. We have the ability to add automations.

Cons

Jira is one of the more costlier platforms, so you definitely need to utilize the platform to get what you pay for. However, if you use the full suite of the program, it is worth the cost.

### "The ultimate tool for agile teams- JIRA"

December 21, 2025

3.0

Jira is an industry standard and used widely in almost all the IT companies. it’s powerful and scales perfectly with growing teams and helps in collaboration.

Pros

Jira has a power to do advanced level of customizations, you can tailor workflows, issue types, and boards to fit literally any project structure. I also love the deep integration with other developer tools like GitHub and Confluence, which keeps all our project documentation and code commits linked in one place.

Cons

For new comers the learning could be little slow as it has a complex interface. Setting up complex permissions and automation rules often requires a dedicated administrator, and the software can feel quite slow to load when you have a large number of active tickets on a single board.

I am using the jira since 2019 and have used in my 3 different organizations. if any organization is looking for a project management tool than Jira is no brainer for them, just buy the subscription and start using it.

Pros

Best tool for Project management, able to manage and tack the progress of multiple project at a single place. Easy to manage the tickets which have created or assigned to any developer. kanban and agile both kind of methodology are compatible with this.

Cons

Nothing to dislike about this product. as this has all the necessary feature which are required in a project management tool.

March 12, 2026

positive! it is a very good tool at keeping the team on task, tracking metrics, issues, and allowing us to visualize common issues and ways to solve them.

Pros

Love the visualization it offers and how it allows the team to collaborate on issues easier and categorizing our issues as well as keeping us on task. Also love some of the built in integrations and automations.

Cons

Jira is good for project management, especially if you want an understanding of team's efficiency. You can customize lot of fields and add new fields as required.

Pros

Easy to manage project tasks, track history of tasks, multiple agile methodologies like scrum, kanban, etc, resource management

Cons

### "Integratable, customisable and reliable "

October 15, 2025

5.0

Love it. I never want to use any other project management tools and I recommend it to all my clients and every workplace I'm ever part of. It's so customisable and intergratable and gives you full scope of projects.

Pros

Jira is the best project management programme out there in my opinion. I've tried so many over the last eight years and always come back to Jira. It's so customisable so it can fit to any company, industry or style of projects, it integrates smoothly with other softwares like Slack, Asana, Confluence and Clockify so you can collaborate with your teams fully.

Cons

The only thing letting Jira down is ease of use. It's very tricky to get to grips with for any staff who are less technology literate. We have training days for getting to know Jira as part of our onboarding process and it rarely takes more than a day for people to get their head around it, but there are programmes out there where this training wouldn't be necessary at all. I do think its worth it though, for how reliable Jira is.

Cons

### "Jira is always reliable "

April 22, 2026

4.0

Option 1: Professional & Process-Oriented "I utilize Jira daily to manage the escalation of customer support tickets, specifically focusing on technical bugs and course material discrepancies. It serves as a vital shared platform between the Support team and IT, allowing us to track issues from the moment a student reports them through to final resolution. This ensures full transparency and accountability as we collaborate with the technical team to solve student-facing problems.

Pros

Every task has a history, a comment thread, and an owner. You can look at a ticket from three years ago and see exactly why a decision was made.

Cons

Overwhelming Interface: For a new user, Jira can feel like a cockpit of a 747. There are buttons, menus, and sidebars everywhere. Configuration Fatigue: Setting up a project correctly requires a "Jira Administrator" level of knowledge. If you don't set it up right from day one, it becomes a disorganized mess very quickly.

### "Perhaps Jira's time is over?"

February 23, 2026

3.0

I had great hopes for integrating Jira with Slack when they bought out a Jira integration tool, but the two-way sync was really unreliable so we ended up moving on to Pylon.

Pros

Extremely customizable with plenty of integrations. You can basically program it to do anything you want and integrate with any tool you have in your stack.

Cons

With this customizability comes complexity and some lag. It's not as nimble as it used to be and most companies I know (including my own) have moved onto Linear.

### "Excellent workflow control platform. Access management to be cautious with"

April 30, 2026

5.0

Pros

What I liked most about Jira is the level of workflow discipline and traceability it creates. In practice, tasks, incidents, approvals, backlogs, priorities, and deadlines are visible in one system. For example, instead of following actions by email or scattered Excel files, teams can manage execution with clearer ownership and auditability.

Cons

What I liked least about Jira is that it can become over-engineered. Poor configuration, too many custom fields, or excessive workflows can create bureaucracy rather than productivity. For non-technical teams, onboarding may also require change management.

### "Powerful but Complex: Worth It for the Right Team"

March 23, 2026

4.0

Overall, Jira is a powerful and flexible project management tool that delivers real value once properly configured. The learning curve is steep, but once the team is up to speed, the visibility and control it provides over projects and workflows is hard to match.

Pros

The ability to track multiple projects in one centralized place while maintaining full visibility into tasks, deadlines, and team responsibilities.

Cons

The steep learning curve; new team members often struggle to get up to speed without dedicated onboarding or training.
