### "Boost Your Team's Productivity with Jira."

February 24, 2023

4.0

In my experience, Jira Software is a powerful tool that can be a great asset to teams and organizations, particularly those following Agile methodologies. However, it can also be quite complex and overwhelming, especially for teams that are not already familiar with project management best practices. The tool's customization options and reporting capabilities are impressive, but they require significant investment in training and support to use effectively. Additionally, the tool's cost can be a concern, particularly for small or budget-constrained teams. Overall, while Jira Software has its benefits and drawbacks, it can be a valuable tool for teams that are willing to invest the time and resources needed to master it

Pros

Jira Software is a powerful project management tool that offers numerous benefits to teams and organizations. One of its key strengths is its flexibility and customization options. With Jira Software, users can create custom workflows, issue types, and fields, allowing them to tailor the tool to their specific needs and processes. This can lead to increased efficiency and productivity, as well as better project outcomes.Another major advantage of Jira Software is its robust reporting and analytics capabilities. The tool provides a wide range of built-in reports and dashboards, which can be customized to display the data and metrics that are most relevant to the team or project. This can help teams identify areas for improvement, track progress towards goals, and make data-driven decisions.Jira Software also supports Agile methodologies, making it an ideal tool for software development teams that follow Agile practices such as Scrum or Kanban. The tool includes features such as backlog management, sprint planning, and burndown charts, which can help Agile teams stay organized and focused on delivering value to customers.

Cons

it can be complex and difficult to use, particularly for teams that are not already familiar with Agile methodologies or project management best practices. This can lead to a steep learning curve and require significant investment in training and support.

### "Advanced Project Management tool"

October 25, 2022

4.0

As a software solutions company, we have numerous projects on the go and use Jira to track them. We use Scrum, and Jira matches up with the Scrum process well. We do weekly sprints where we review the backlog and add tasks to our sprint, and this process is easy with Jira and allows many options.

Pros

Jira is a nice and powerful tool to track our projects. This includes all Epics, Stories, Tasks, Sub-tasks and bugs. It allows for many options as well, including labels, easy prioritization (drag and drop). Recently they have added features to help track milestones, so you don't need MS project anymore. There are a lot of different reports (good for clients) and numerous integrations available.

Cons

After you get to so many users, the costs increase quite a bit. Confluence and some add-ons are also additional costs. We have also found the odd bug. For example, the wrong ticket is updated, or in the backlog view the mouse curser can no longer select rows (fixed by a refresh). Classic Projects vs. New Project is also a bit confusing. It's hard to get new features for some of our old projects, unless we recreate the Project from the start.

### "JIRA is a functional agile project management application"

August 27, 2022

5.0

Jira is an all-around effective and agile project management application for handling several teams and tasks. Jira is the best option for Kanban, Hybrid, and Scrum projects that require good project management. Jira users could improve their comprehension through training and supported services. Jira may be used to manage a project successfully.

Pros

Jira is a fantastic tool for managing projects. It is the finest choice for managing agile projects and bug tracking. Jira makes it possible to utilize several teams at once, creating a lot of connections. Teams from the product development, product design, and product strategy divisions may collaborate to better projects. Using the filtering and searching tools, each team may keep track of its own deliverables, milestones, and tasks. If you are leveraging the Agile Scrum framework, implementing custom views will help to assist your daily stand-up sessions. You might create your own distinctive points of view to talk just on the important components of the assignments. This function is efficient and saves time for a daily ten-minute stand-up. Other new features that make Jira a must-buy include alerts for due dates, assignment distribution, labelling, assigning task priority levels, and generating epic connections that display the user narrative and project progress. Jira has Kanban boards where you may choose between showing and hiding features from other team members. Due to its capacity to integrate with many frameworks and maintain task and deliverable backlogs, Jira offers a great level of flexibility. Jira has excellent organization in its sprint planning, sprint release, and history structure. Any type of project management may use it. Customer assistance is offered by Jira, which is quite helpful.

Cons

My own opinion is that it's a fantastic tool; one of the dew drawback is the cost per user, which initially looks good but increases overtime. Another drawback I've seen when using Jira is that there isn't an option to have audible notifications. When a new ticket is created, Jira, for instance, doesn't make a sound. So, if a user leaves the system, they risk missing a vital ticket.

Reason for choosing Jira

More UX, Design, and Developer collaboration capabilities are available in Jira.

### "The best tool for a product manager"

October 31, 2019

5.0

My experience has been great with JIRA and I have setup the product in my last two organizations. In my current role, the entire company has moved all their projects to JIRA. Despite some pesky UI bugs here and there, JIRA does everything that I need and has become a critical piece of my day-to-day work. It's never easy to build a product for product people, but JIRA has found a way to do most of what I need. I only wish the business would invest a bit more effort into their support team, but since many companies are already using JIRA, the internet has become a great substitute.

Pros

JIRA gives me so much functionality out of the box. Within five minutes, I can create a board and invite my whole team to start working with me. It doesn't take long to customize your presentation of work to make it specific to your business. It has become the standard for the industry and with good reason; JIRA gives me everything that I need to track performance and ensure a timely release.

Cons

There are occasionally some annoying bugs that will present themselves, but it's never something that really prevents me from using the product effectively; usually it's an annoying UI bug that looks messy or ugly. For the most part, many of the people that complain about the product just don't know how to use it 'as is out of the box'. The more configurations you try to make, the more problems you can create for yourself. Aside from this, their customer service is quite lackluster and it often takes days if not weeks to hear back from support - usually the bugs are fixed before you even get a response.

### "Excellent tool for workflow management and issue tracking"

September 24, 2021

5.0

Jira has been a great tool from a user's standpoint for basic functionality. However, it has far more features than most users need on a regular basis and these features can often be confusing and difficult to adopt for new users. If you can keep the workflows simple, it can be very effective.

Pros

From the standpoint of a user, Jira is easy to navigate and a robust tool for submitting requests to other users for action. All actions are then tracked and cause alerts to anyone who is watching the request. Workflows can be easily managed and requests sent down unique paths to specific users or groups for further action and approvals. Communicating on requests and then collaborating back and forth with other users is simple and effective. It's a great tool!

Cons

Reporting and searching within Jira is strong, but very confusing for new users. It can be difficult to establish the right query and users are often left with large lists of requests/Issues to sort through while attempting to find what they are looking for. Reporting is also difficult and other tools are much more intuitive. We are often left wanting to use other tools to consume the Jira data and then display and analyze it.

### "Jira offers a comprehensive range of project management services."

October 12, 2022

5.0

From last 3 years, I am using Atlassian products especially Jira. With ease, I am managing my agile and software development products in Jira. This tool offers a vast variety of services/functionalities which really helped me a lot to manage my project and activities on a daily basis. Scrum/kanban board, automation, service desk/issue collectors & integration with other applications like servicenow, slack etc helps me to keep track of all the info at one place. The integration of Jira with other applications like Servicenow, slack, github etc helps me to keep track of all the info at one place. With Github integration, I can manage my repos and pull requests info on Jira issues. Jira slack integration helps to get the notifications each time an issue gets created in my Jira project. Jira Servicenow integration is great functionality for Incident management tracking in Jira.

Pros

The best thing about this tool is that it offers you so much functionalities that makes your day to day work easier to manage and you can easily keep track all the project info at one place. Integration with other applications is one of the great functionality what this tool offers.

Cons

There are limited automations functionalities this software has to offer. While the project is software type, it does not offer you the automations functionalities. Other than that, this tool is a one stop solution for all your project needs.

### "Highly Customizable - Blessing and Curse"

June 22, 2023

4.0

JIRA is the most robust option out there. Once I got familiar with it, I loved it. But its very difficult to make changes and customize without spending days doing so. I think the biggest question to ask yourself when debating what to go with is how complex you need your management system to be. Chances are it doesn't need to be as complex as JIRA for small-medium organizations.

Pros

JIRA is extremely customizable. If you can figure out how to use JIRA, anything you want to make happen can happen. We've used templates in different ticket types to ensure users are providing all information needed at the outset. We have different boards for triage, scoping, and dev work to chunk out the process and keep it organized

Cons

Because its so customizable, it is extremely hard to figure out how to setup an experience you want...especially without disrupting existing setups. The names JIRA has for customizations are not clear and you get into a web of different settings and its very easy to get lost and not understand what youre doing. And its very difficult to tell how one setting affects another and which settings you need to update to realize your change.

Reason for choosing Jira

Its what everyone used - both personally at other companies, and what other companies used at the time

### "JIRA is a tool that is simply required for every project, helps in tracking and managing the tasks."

May 15, 2022

5.0

Overall JIRA is a great software, helps you with project management, software development, task tracking etc. And it definitely made the life easier.

Pros

It is the only solutions comes up in mind when working on a software development project, but its not only limited to this, we can track work items/tasks easily. I also used it as to track the overall incident. Easier to make the comments and to assign the different work items to different stakeholders. Version tracking is also another great feature comes up with JIRA. If you are using confluence for docs management, with JIRA it all comes under the same umbrella which really makes it cool.

Cons

Access management might not be that good, as integrating different tenant (Users with different alias from outside organization) within JIRA was not possible . JIRA should work on improving this feature.

overall, Jira provides an exceptional experience. It is a modern powerful tool that has allowed me to deliver countless software development projects From small maintenance tasks and existing software to the development of new products Jira can do it all.

Pros

Prioritization time tracking task management are my favorite features of the software. By utilizing these features I am able to successfully delivered projects on time within budget and above expectations to our clients.

Cons

The only downside I have noticed is that in order to administer the software you need more than just basic skills. It requires a background in IT As well as some networking and coding skills.

### "Great for project, time, and task management"

January 9, 2023

5.0

Helps keep all my tasks and time organised, across the team and broader company. Makes organisation a lot easier and I better document all my progress.

Pros

Jira works perfectly for me to keep all my tasks organised. I know what I have to work on at a given moment, in the context of agile/kanban/sprint setups, and it connects really well with the other software I use. Definitely recommend for its wide featureset and helping me keep on track.

Cons

Complex to learn at first, though the tutorial helps. I would recommend doing a short course on LinkedIn or something, as the featureset is very broad. I tend to just use it within the immediate realm of use.

### "If you are doing Agile/SCRUM software development, JIRA is a must"

April 4, 2021

5.0

JIRA was a bit tough at first to pick up, but soon you understand how it works and its features, your workflow becomes very smooth. However, I would like if JIRA had fewer technical terminologies or quick help features in case you get lost inside. They gave a tour when they introduced the 'new issue view' and you can still find it useful in the "Actions" tab on the right top of the screen. JIRA is a must if you are in the IT industry.

Pros

My organisation uses Agile software development to do product development, it would be appropriate for me to say every one of us uses this software right from the developers, to QAs to designers to Product Managers to even the senior management. Everyone has their own work areas inside JIRA. It is difficult to say in few words what JIRA is, it is a complete suite for a software development company and I'd suggest you try out JIRA no matter the size of your team. My main work areas and familiarity are the backlog, story management and issue reporting. JIRA acts as the single source of truth with its easy to use Epic and Story feature which makes the life of a product owner very comfortable. The development teams are then able to do their story estimations and sprint planning all in the same place. I would highly recommend you to try JIRA even if you are a startup or a big software house.

Cons

JIRA has a learning curve (at least for me, coming from a non-technical or project management background) but with a bit of training (can be done by yourself) it is not that hard to get up and running. Initially, I struggled to find my way around the software and also didn't know how to use some features and tools. But when you get accustomed to the UI, you will realise the power of JIRA.

### "Jira integrator is helpful to leverage task data across critical apps"

March 23, 2021

4.0

The consistency that Jira lends across teams during adoption is extremely useful. We are able to leverage project details and be flexible on how the project workflows are defined. Again, the ability to use the SmartSheet integrator without making too many changes to our overall process was the biggest sell.

Pros

Jira is being adopted by more Development Teams within our organization and now we are able to use the SmartSheet integrator to report project metrics. This tool allows us to sync our task status to one or more sheets to manage separate deliverables as well as projects. It limits the need for Teams to report data in multiple applications.

Cons

While the integrator is useful, we cannot edit or view the details for workflows created by others. The integrator(s) have not worked well with Confluence, but that may be a training issue. I would also like to use the API if possible.

### "Using Jira to manage your Agile team"

April 15, 2022

4.0

We were developing an Operation Data Store for a complex maintenance operation at a major Airline. Jira helped us breakdown the scope of work and effectively manage that huge volume of work in bite-size day-to-day pieces.

Pros

One of the handy features is the integration with our code repository. The way that everything just simply worked and was easy to figure out was a huge plus.

Cons

There was not an easy way to integrate our QA tools into Jira. We had to link stories manually. My understanding is was not a limitation of Jira, but the tool we were using. We have since changed tools.

### "Highly flexible Agile project management tool but a little complicated to use."

August 26, 2022

4.0

I love using Jira as I can configure it as per my project's needs and I highly recommend this tool if your team is following 'Agile Development' process.

Pros

I have been using Jira from last 5+ years now for Backlog management, Requirements management, Bug tracking and creating Dashboards for project review meetings with leadership. It's extremely flexible tool where you can configure your own workflows and customize it as per your project's needs. It's my go-to Agile project management tool (especially for Scrum). It's so easy to create and manage user stories, bugs, technical tasks etc. You can tag your user stories as per Epics and Features, you can also add labels to each ticket. You can track the status of any ticket and also see the bandwidth allocation of various teams. In JIRA, you can add advanced search filters to view only those user stories that has particular combination of fields (like specific assignee, status, epic name etc.). Moreover, JIRA Dashboard provides a bird's eye view of the overall project status which gives the real time visibility to you and the leadership team. The UI is very clean and simple and it makes Agile Development very productive, once you get the hang of it. Plus, it's very well integrated with many popular apps like Google workplace, workday, slack etc. But there is definitely a steep learning curve with Jira. The success of this product largely depends on how your management/leadership standardize various processes and workflows within Jira.

Cons

Jira doesn't allow you to add multiple assignee on one user story, and this becomes a concern when multiple developers are working on one story. Also, it's hard to get support from Atlassian when you are facing some technical issues. Additionally, in my experience, I have found that as Jira provides great level of customization, it can become really messy, if multiple management styles are involved during project planning phase. The workflows can get overly complicated and as a Product Owner, you find yourself stuck in updating the ticket statuses all day long.

### "Powerful Project Management tool"

March 12, 2023

5.0

Overall Jira has been a fantastic project management tool that has completely transformed the way our team works. It has enabled us to easily track and manage complex projects, collaborate effectively as a team, and meet deadlines and deliverables. Jira is an excellent project management tool. The Kanban and Scrum boards are great for visualizing progress, and the integrations with other tools like MIRO and Confluence make it simple to manage all aspects of our projects from a single location.

Pros

Jira is an excellent project management tool. It enables us to create and track tasks, track progress, and collaborate effectively as a team. Jira's customizability is also a major advantage, allowing us to create workflows that are tailored to our specific processes. The reporting and analytics tools are also excellent, allowing us to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement. It has aided us in streamlining our development process and improving our collaboration.

Cons

The interface is cluttered, and there are so many options that it's difficult to know where to begin. It takes some time to get used to Jira, and even then, it can be difficult to find what you're looking for. Excessive customization can make Jira even more complicated and difficult to use.

Pros

What stands out to me about using Jira is how it adapts to our specific project demands. It's like having a versatile toolbox that can be customized to fit any project's unique needs. With Jira, we can collaborate seamlessly, stay on top of tasks, and ensure our projects run smoothly.

Jira has never led me into trouble, it is reliable, efficient and just serves the purpose. It suits to small, medium or even large-scale project management work, and I have no worries using it.

Pros

### "Versatile tool for help desk and task management"

February 13, 2021

4.0

We use Jira for IT help desk support, miscellaneous administrative and clerical support, staying focused on engineering and resource planning. We've gained several benefits. We can transparently tell all the efforts we are working on, which effort is taking more time, what are the blockers, who's putting how much effort into what work and whether there is value in the work we are doing. Jira has allowed us to stay focused and cut down on non-essential or wasteful work while giving the company a clear idea of what we are working on.

Pros

I love Jira's ease of use. Jira allows our staff and business partners to request from us using Jira Service Desk. Engineers track their effort using Jira Software. We use the default settings for the most part and that works great for us. There is no need to train anyone on how to use it because everything is self-explanatory. That cuts down on confusion and allows us to get/enter accurate information.

Cons

It is slow. It is very slow at times. Jira's makers - Atlassian - have not paid much attention over the years about its slowness. If you are into full-fledged project management, portfolio planning and more, you will have to buy add-ons to get additional functionality within Jira. Did I say that Jira is slow? While the ease of use saves time in accurately recording information in Jira, all that saved time is wasted away waiting for pages to load.

Reason for choosing Jira

Jira was the only product that we felt was reasonable for customers to use to report issues (in the form of Service Desk) and also had an integrated tool to manage tasks (in the form of Jira Software). It could do Kanban and Agile. No training seemed to be required for users. Compared to that, Trello was a close second but it didn't have reporting and fine-grained permissions we were looking for. Asana had speed issues when we were comparing with Jira. Did you see I mentioned that Jira was slow. Think of how slow Asana was then! Basecamp appeared to be too project management-like instead of task management. We noticed fewer and fewer people used FogBugz. The craze of FogBugz had died out and we couldn't tell how long the product would be maintained/available. Pivotal Tracker looked good but Jira was so far ahead of other tools that we just made a switch to Jira.

Switched from

[Microsoft SharePoint](https://www.capterra.com/p/1167/SharePoint/)

SharePoint was previously used for task management. SharePoint is good for content management but was clunky for task management. It's reporting was not easy. We were wasting more time in task management in SharePoint rather than doing tasks.

### "Jira jira, hear alll about it! "

May 3, 2022

5.0

Jira served me well and allowed me many dashboarding options to quickly assess team performance, delivery and to help manage expectations.

Pros

Jira is a powerful agile tool, with plenty of out of the box functionality for teams using pure agile methodologies. With some minor tweaks it can accomodate hybrid delivery methodology and is visually pleasing to use. The confluence connection makes for a well formed eco system for daily usage.

Cons

The one drawback is the unified nature of Jira. When admin managed, it may be over restrictive and limit a projects potential customization. I do believe this is however implementation specific and can be easily overcome.
