### "Jira integrator is helpful to leverage task data across critical apps"

March 23, 2021

4.0

The consistency that Jira lends across teams during adoption is extremely useful. We are able to leverage project details and be flexible on how the project workflows are defined. Again, the ability to use the SmartSheet integrator without making too many changes to our overall process was the biggest sell.

Pros

Jira is being adopted by more Development Teams within our organization and now we are able to use the SmartSheet integrator to report project metrics. This tool allows us to sync our task status to one or more sheets to manage separate deliverables as well as projects. It limits the need for Teams to report data in multiple applications.

Cons

While the integrator is useful, we cannot edit or view the details for workflows created by others. The integrator(s) have not worked well with Confluence, but that may be a training issue. I would also like to use the API if possible.

Reason for choosing Jira

The integrations were better at connecting data and we had some licenses already purchased.

### "Using Jira to manage your Agile team"

April 15, 2022

4.0

We were developing an Operation Data Store for a complex maintenance operation at a major Airline. Jira helped us breakdown the scope of work and effectively manage that huge volume of work in bite-size day-to-day pieces.

Pros

One of the handy features is the integration with our code repository. The way that everything just simply worked and was easy to figure out was a huge plus.

Cons

There was not an easy way to integrate our QA tools into Jira. We had to link stories manually. My understanding is was not a limitation of Jira, but the tool we were using. We have since changed tools.

### "Highly flexible Agile project management tool but a little complicated to use."

August 26, 2022

4.0

I love using Jira as I can configure it as per my project's needs and I highly recommend this tool if your team is following 'Agile Development' process.

Pros

I have been using Jira from last 5+ years now for Backlog management, Requirements management, Bug tracking and creating Dashboards for project review meetings with leadership. It's extremely flexible tool where you can configure your own workflows and customize it as per your project's needs. It's my go-to Agile project management tool (especially for Scrum). It's so easy to create and manage user stories, bugs, technical tasks etc. You can tag your user stories as per Epics and Features, you can also add labels to each ticket. You can track the status of any ticket and also see the bandwidth allocation of various teams. In JIRA, you can add advanced search filters to view only those user stories that has particular combination of fields (like specific assignee, status, epic name etc.). Moreover, JIRA Dashboard provides a bird's eye view of the overall project status which gives the real time visibility to you and the leadership team. The UI is very clean and simple and it makes Agile Development very productive, once you get the hang of it. Plus, it's very well integrated with many popular apps like Google workplace, workday, slack etc. But there is definitely a steep learning curve with Jira. The success of this product largely depends on how your management/leadership standardize various processes and workflows within Jira.

Cons

Jira doesn't allow you to add multiple assignee on one user story, and this becomes a concern when multiple developers are working on one story. Also, it's hard to get support from Atlassian when you are facing some technical issues. Additionally, in my experience, I have found that as Jira provides great level of customization, it can become really messy, if multiple management styles are involved during project planning phase. The workflows can get overly complicated and as a Product Owner, you find yourself stuck in updating the ticket statuses all day long.

I have found JIRA to be much more flexible (for workflow management) as compared to Microsoft DevOps.

### "The go-to tool for tech teams "

August 30, 2022

5.0

Pros

I like the ticketing system and how its integrated with boards. As a more technical guy, i like to use tools like Jira. But it's always a mess to onboard non-tech people as its not easy to understand for many.

Cons

It costs a lot. You have to pay extra for a lot of things like new connections or new members. Also its hard to teach to non tech people.

### "Powerful Project Management tool"

March 12, 2023

5.0

Overall Jira has been a fantastic project management tool that has completely transformed the way our team works. It has enabled us to easily track and manage complex projects, collaborate effectively as a team, and meet deadlines and deliverables. Jira is an excellent project management tool. The Kanban and Scrum boards are great for visualizing progress, and the integrations with other tools like MIRO and Confluence make it simple to manage all aspects of our projects from a single location.

Pros

Jira is an excellent project management tool. It enables us to create and track tasks, track progress, and collaborate effectively as a team. Jira's customizability is also a major advantage, allowing us to create workflows that are tailored to our specific processes. The reporting and analytics tools are also excellent, allowing us to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement. It has aided us in streamlining our development process and improving our collaboration.

Cons

The interface is cluttered, and there are so many options that it's difficult to know where to begin. It takes some time to get used to Jira, and even then, it can be difficult to find what you're looking for. Excessive customization can make Jira even more complicated and difficult to use.

### "A day in the life using Jira"

September 15, 2023

5.0

I've found that Jira has significantly simplified our project management and collaboration. Its robust task management, seamless integrations, and real-time reporting have improved our efficiency and decision-making. I wholeheartedly recommend Jira to fellow professionals looking to enhance their project workflows.

Pros

What stands out to me about using Jira is how it adapts to our specific project demands. It's like having a versatile toolbox that can be customized to fit any project's unique needs. With Jira, we can collaborate seamlessly, stay on top of tasks, and ensure our projects run smoothly.

Cons

It can take some time to grasp the potential of the platform and its customization options. It's a bit complicated at first.

### "Professional Project Management Suite Comes with Expensive Price Tag"

August 25, 2022

4.0

Jira has never led me into trouble, it is reliable, efficient and just serves the purpose. It suits to small, medium or even large-scale project management work, and I have no worries using it.

Pros

Jira is the industry-leading project management suite, and it provides A+ grade customer support. Whenever there is a problem with the Jira server, I can log a support ticket, and Jira has provided great support to fix it.

Cons

So expensive. There are state-of-the-art new project management tools available now, such as ClickUp. When comparing Jira with other latest project management products, I think Jira pricing is way too higher.

### "Versatile tool for help desk and task management"

February 13, 2021

4.0

We use Jira for IT help desk support, miscellaneous administrative and clerical support, staying focused on engineering and resource planning. We've gained several benefits. We can transparently tell all the efforts we are working on, which effort is taking more time, what are the blockers, who's putting how much effort into what work and whether there is value in the work we are doing. Jira has allowed us to stay focused and cut down on non-essential or wasteful work while giving the company a clear idea of what we are working on.

Pros

I love Jira's ease of use. Jira allows our staff and business partners to request from us using Jira Service Desk. Engineers track their effort using Jira Software. We use the default settings for the most part and that works great for us. There is no need to train anyone on how to use it because everything is self-explanatory. That cuts down on confusion and allows us to get/enter accurate information.

Cons

It is slow. It is very slow at times. Jira's makers - Atlassian - have not paid much attention over the years about its slowness. If you are into full-fledged project management, portfolio planning and more, you will have to buy add-ons to get additional functionality within Jira. Did I say that Jira is slow? While the ease of use saves time in accurately recording information in Jira, all that saved time is wasted away waiting for pages to load.

Reason for choosing Jira

Jira was the only product that we felt was reasonable for customers to use to report issues (in the form of Service Desk) and also had an integrated tool to manage tasks (in the form of Jira Software). It could do Kanban and Agile. No training seemed to be required for users. Compared to that, Trello was a close second but it didn't have reporting and fine-grained permissions we were looking for. Asana had speed issues when we were comparing with Jira. Did you see I mentioned that Jira was slow. Think of how slow Asana was then! Basecamp appeared to be too project management-like instead of task management. We noticed fewer and fewer people used FogBugz. The craze of FogBugz had died out and we couldn't tell how long the product would be maintained/available. Pivotal Tracker looked good but Jira was so far ahead of other tools that we just made a switch to Jira.

SharePoint was previously used for task management. SharePoint is good for content management but was clunky for task management. It's reporting was not easy. We were wasting more time in task management in SharePoint rather than doing tasks.

### "Jira jira, hear alll about it! "

May 3, 2022

5.0

Jira served me well and allowed me many dashboarding options to quickly assess team performance, delivery and to help manage expectations.

Pros

Jira is a powerful agile tool, with plenty of out of the box functionality for teams using pure agile methodologies. With some minor tweaks it can accomodate hybrid delivery methodology and is visually pleasing to use. The confluence connection makes for a well formed eco system for daily usage.

Cons

The one drawback is the unified nature of Jira. When admin managed, it may be over restrictive and limit a projects potential customization. I do believe this is however implementation specific and can be easily overcome.

### "Great Project Management Tool"

April 21, 2023

4.0

Overall, Jira provides a great experience in terms of project planning and execution. It provides tons of flexibility in terms of creating customized workflows and custom fields. An efficient tool to track issues, bugs, development efforts, etc. Also , it has decent reporting and analytics capabilities , which allows me to create customized reports and dashboards

Pros

Jira provides a ton of features in terms of project planning, the ability to create a hierarchy of epics, and feature > delivery > story, which is a great feature to track deliverables in a release. It provides sufficient options to write detailed stories, add functional workflows, excel data sets, etc. Helps in Issue and bug tracking during production support, UAT phase, and QA testing. A great collaboration platform, due to the ability to write comments, notifications, tag required personnel, and seamless integration with other tools such as Outlook and Confluence.Log efforts and Tempo (dashboard to track daily efforts) is an amazing tool for productivity enhancements.

Cons

There are a few limitations of JIRA as well - - The search engine of JIRA doesn't always fetch the correct results despite using the correct keywords, it's not as smart as an AI-powered engine or Google. Also, the Smart Query feature is not that useful, many times basic search work well.- Doesn't have the templates to write detailed documents such as FSD or a design document, not a very good knowledge management tool.

### "Jira can help you tremendously if user the "right" way, or you can shoot yourself in the foot"

March 25, 2022

5.0

I really like it, as I can configure it to suit my needs, I'm constantly reviewing the testing process in our company, making changes to the workflow, adding custom fields, etc.

Pros

It's rich in features it offers and it's amazingly configurable, two organizations can have Jira installations that are nothing alike!

Cons

It's not a big issue for me, but I think they should offer more best practices in terms of templates for less experienced users to save them from headaches - they are already taking steps in this direction. Since it's a very large product there are some inconsistencies, doing the same thing in two different parts of Jira can feel like a very different experience.

Reason for choosing Jira

There are a lot of people who know how to use it, both regular and advanced users.

### "Eliminate Unnecessary Steps in User Onboarding Process"

May 6, 2023

5.0

From a developer's perspective, Jira is a game-changing project management tool that offers intuitive controls and powerful features. Having used Jira for over a year now, I can confidently say that it's a user-friendly platform that allows easy setup of projects, especially with the help of templates. One of the key features that I love is the ability to add review comments associated with specific lines of code, making it easier for my team to keep track of project progress. With great notification capabilities and integrations with Slack, Jira helps us stay on top of our tasks and streamline communication without overwhelming us with emails or chat messages.

Pros

Customizable workflows: Jira offers a flexible workflow system that can be tailored to fit the unique needs of a team or project.Agile project management: With its agile methodology and tools like scrum and kanban boards, Jira makes it easy to manage and prioritize tasks.Integration with other tools: Jira integrates seamlessly with other tools like Confluence, Bitbucket, and Trello, creating a comprehensive solution for managing software development.Powerful search capabilities: The advanced search feature in Jira allows users to easily find and filter issues based on multiple criteria, including custom fields and tags.Issue tracking: Jira's issue tracking system is comprehensive and enables users to track and manage issues throughout the entire software development process.Reporting: Jira offers a range of reporting options, including customizable dashboards and real-time progress reports, providing teams with valuable insights into their projects.

Cons

Jira's open API and marketplace of add-ons and plugins allow users to extend the functionality of the platform to meet their specific needs. Jira's collaboration tools, like comments and notifications, make it easy for teams to communicate and work together, no matter where they are located.

### "One Stop Project Management Tool"

September 5, 2021

5.0

We have been using JIRA across the current project and there are at least 10 different teams (Squads) which are working on their projects (Large Project broken into sub projects). From feature describing to user story writing, test cases, defects, reports, matrix, dashboards, time tracking all such activities been handled by JIRA.

Pros

JIRA is one of the best, simple, and user friendly project management tool. We have been working for almost 3 years now and the user experience it offers is applaudable. You can create your agile boards for scrums and can go KANBAN as well. You can create as many different teams and squads. Link your issues to stories and trace it to the feature, Track how much effort is being spent on an item; Track for how long an item has been been sitting idle; Prioritize your issues, backlogs; Create dashboards for ease and convenience; generate reports, traceability matrix, velocity burndown charts; add/remove user access. You can customize it as per requirement and with ease. Recently it has moved to cloud, so down time has been relevantly decreased which is an added bonus. Best part I like about using JIRA is that its very easy to handle, we can do bulk update on items and it takes very less time to understand. This is one of the best tools that is out there and I believe almost every organization is using it.

Cons

There is nothing much to add in this section. Practically I am all thumbs up for JIRA. I have a suggestion though. JIRA needs to have a Instant Messaging option enabled so that an organizations do not need to look out for a separate tool. I think if Atlassian would be able to achieve it, not only they would be able to enhance their customer base but they would be able bring a lot revenue.

### "Great PM and Ticket management tool"

May 24, 2022

5.0

Overall, the Jira software is great IT asset. It is flexible and works across multiple workstream. We use it for our Project Management (all aspects) and ticket management for it as well. It provides easy and web based application to deploy and use across the organization. It provides easy user interface and lot of flexibility to add fields and workflow to meet our own internal process.

Pros

Jira is very great for project and task management. It provides lot of flexibility around custom fields and reports. The easy to use reporting functionalities allow to have one simple view across multiple projects and initiatives

Cons

While the interface is simple to use.. it feels very simple. Our users are not very adaptive to Jira as it doesn't have jazzy UX. It's not clean and modern looking like other alternatives out there.

### "The "Ticket or No Ticket" Debate"

March 19, 2019

4.0

It took time to get buy-in from the entire IT department to fully utilize JIRA. However, now that the whole department is all-in, JIRA has truly made our work effort much easier. We now have internal business partners who utilize JIRA to review work status, set priorities, and create new tickets when issues/upgrades present themselves. With an organization our size, I can't imagine not utilizing something like JIRA...not sure how we did it all in the past.

Pros

The best part about JIRA is the ability to keep track of all work being done via tickets. I love that JIRA works for all kinds of styles of work. We work within an Agile environment, with some teams using Scrum and other teams using Kanban. No matter how the team is structured, they utilize JIRA tickets. This is great because there is a single repository for all work being done and we can easily search for tickets across all the different teams. The use of Epics vs. Stories is very easy too. We can keep track of what tickets belong to which effort with ease and show the progress of work through the tickets. We can also easily maintain a backlog of tickets. If two separate people submit a similar ticket (or at least two tickets that reference the same work effort), we can combine those tickets easily so that we aren't feeling overwhelmed with more tickets than actual work.

Cons

The biggest debate among our team members is when it is necessary to create a ticket. JIRA has created a culture of needing to log every little thing, even if it takes just a moment to complete the work. Sometimes, it takes longer to create the ticket than to complete the task at hand. That tells me there is too much reliance on JIRA to report work completed. It causes some in management to show that their department is succeeding simply by the number of tickets completed. But the tickets don't tell the whole story, especially because there isn't a time component to those tickets being completed.

### "JIRA - The monolith everyone uses"

November 15, 2018

3.0

We use JIRA to plan monolithic projects across our organization and communicate with teams in multiple time zones and regions. We have a tier 1 tool plugin that allows our tier 1 support to escalate tickets for tier 2 and that is where we perform our work. I work indirectly with our JIRA administrator and project managers to support them while they support the JIRA platform for our organization. I have worked with JIRA in numerous organizations and while I've given it a mediocre score overall, it is a useful and irreplaceable tool overall.

Pros

JIRA is an industry standard tool, due to this it's very well known and a colloquial metaphor for "tickets" in and of itself. JIRA is able to handle monolithic projects and the many related projects with regard to them. JIRA is very good at allowing and automatically building self-referencing tickets within it's comments and ticket parts, if you put a ticket title into a ticket it will automatically reference the actual ticket with a link. It is also very good at adding to existing tickets with related tasks, sub-tasks, and prioritization. JIRA also is considered in almost every third party tool with a massive volume of software that offers "JIRA plugins" considering it's high stature with the IT community.

Cons

JIRA is "the tool" but it's not "a good tool" for every project and company size. JIRA is like other commercial grade products that just aren't designed for simple day to day use. While it opens up nicely and begins to make tons of sense in larger projects, larger organizations, and larger teams it often doesn't show the same beauty with simple projects and day to day ticket tracking. Additionally, the JQL language is ridiculous follows in the foot steps of many other proprietary languages that are only great for constant users of JIRA. While that's the implied scenario because as mentioned JIRA is "the tool" it's not always the case. When my day is split 20 ways, I have little time to sit down and do more than plug in a JIRA ticket number to get to the issue to investigate, review, get sign off on a fix, and apply. JIRA is also having what appears to be a lot of difficulties this year staying online with their new data center providers. I don't remember ever having these issues prior to their most recent move.

### "A Review of the Jira Reporting Tool for Agile Environments"

May 17, 2022

5.0

We find it simple to manage multiple projects, assign stories, handle issues, and improve the user experience in JIRA. JIRA is not only simple to use, it is easy to interact with other project management tools with. This saves us a lot of time and effort by having several other tools to do these tasks.

Pros

Jira's versatility is something I really like. This makes for a real impact on keeping all the pieces current and easy to maintain. When I use another PM program, I like the built-in support for Fix Versions the most. The ability to attach a fix version to each sprint and build makes it simple to examine all of the tasks and issues in a whole release or a single build. This leads to an easy integration to other tools needed to help monitor and report on the project's activities.

Cons

I have no strong dislikes because it includes a number of features that are really beneficial when communicating with team members on project stories. The most important thing I've learned is that individual pieces must be kept current or else the other dependent elements will become out of synch. It's simple to use and integrate with other business systems.

### "Managing projects and issues from a single center"

November 13, 2021

5.0

The Jira platform is an extremely critical platform for agile teams in our organization. I have been using this platform for about 2 years. We use it as an executive summary table, especially in scrum meetings. In this sense, I think it would be much more effective if it were possible to create some ready-made reports or presentations. I also think that it could be a little better at customizing.

Pros

I would like to list the features that I like the most about the Jira platform as follows. First of all, it is very effective that he communicates the developments and changes about me. It makes my job a lot easier. It is very effective to keep track of the projects and to keep some areas confidential with authorizations within the chapter. It is also very successful that it can integrate with Microsoft teams.

Cons

It would also be nice to see the progress, especially in addictive tasks. Just in-progress is not very informative. I also wish the interface was a little more customizable.

Jira helps in maintaining our Scrum, Kanban and Devops culture. Its burndown charts, reporting, ease of all the roles working from product owner to dev all can be on on platform and in sync. Backlog can be easily managed and working hours are easily logged on same.

Pros

Its interface which gives a better look for team, whether defects are resolved or we can implement shift left strategy with charts provided. Sprints are easily executed from start to end and also Kanban is implemented with push and pull. SAFE can easily be implemented using this tool. It has good work log management and assigning task, where you can create sub task. Epic, theme, Task, SubTask Milestone can be created and tracked easily.

Cons

Documentation part is only maintained when everyone follows standard method of maintaining updated comments, in Sprints the scrum master has to remind for comments always. Chat History can not be added to the Jira, its only through conversation things can be tracked. Naming conventions like tagging is not shown for issue or defect to find and link to past issues

I will say its flexibility and scalability. Jira can be used for a wide range of use cases, from simple task tracking to complex project management.

Cons

I think it's just it's steep learning curve for new users, especially for those who are not familiar with project management methodologies or agile frameworks. But once you start using it, it will become seamless for you.

### "Jira Review"

April 2, 2022

4.0

We were looking for a solution that would allow us to track our projects, keep tabs on the deadlines, and organize all of the tasks in one place. Jira has changed how we work by giving us peace of mind and enabling us to focus on what really matters. We've been able to track our progress much more easily which has helped us reach our targets and clear out.

Pros

Jira is a great product that really helps me manage my team better. It's the best I've found for features like checklists with due dates and milestones, an easy-to-use interface, and integration with other business systems. If you're looking for a competitor to Wrike, this is it.

Cons

I've been using Jira and I have to admit that it's a great product. The only thing that is missing is a way to communicate with your team or clients on a personal level. Maybe something like WhatsApp would be good. Other than that, this product is amazing!
