### "The 2022 Tool for Agile Project Management."

January 31, 2022

5.0

If there is a project management tool that startup companies or organizations need, then let it be Jira. I bet none will regret because the pricing is so low, thus affordable to all. I love Jira and I'll highly recommend this to anyone.

Pros

\- Agile project management is the ultimate reason as to why jira has become useful in our organization. One is able to assign and follow-up with tasks. - Jira software is easy to use. - Jira's analytic tool helps in the creation of data driven insights to propel the team forward. - Customization of the jira workflow makes it easy and flexible for the team as they execute their duties. - Workflow tracking has also been possible on jira. - Integration with third party software products like Slack has made the whole user experience amazing. - API integrations can also be done since jira provides space for that. - The filters on the platform are incredible.

Cons

Just to mention, the jira software is simple to use and thus if there be more improvements, we shall fully embrace this from our end.

### "Flexible but not at all fun"

October 28, 2019

5.0

Originally we wanted Jira to be the place for Product and Development. But we soon realised that we needed a separate app for the product team instead. So now the product team work outside Jira and only when it's ready for Development will a ticket get created and planned in the backlog ready for a sprint. Jira helps the Product Manager to know the status of features, bugs and tasks and allows the development team to ask questions relating to the ticket in the comment section. That way there is full visibility of the discussions for future reference.

Pros

The biggest strength that Jira has to offer is how customisable the app is. We're forever fine tuning how how development flows are setup and I've never run into an issue where what we wanted to achieve could not be possible. The workflow editor is pretty straight forward once you figure out how to map these to specific projects and features. It also has a mammoth number of apps that can integrate with it, which can greatly help simplify your organisations stack. We use a bunch of apps that connect to Jira such as Slack and Git. The mobile app is pretty good and more simple to use. There's also a new iOS app that you can run on a mac that seems to be a slightly faster and more user friendly version. However, I haven't quite worked out how to tailor the notifications. The search is very powerful!

Cons

It is very slow to load pages and jump between stories. When using this on a daily basis it really gets annoying. When we need to change a setting it's hard to work out where to go. I have to say I've never seen another app quite like Jira which has so many different places to go to in order to change very similar settings. If someone accidentally creates a ticket with the wrong type the only way to change it is to Move the ticket. And I can't seem to change the status of the ticket at the same time. So often an Open bug ticket becomes an Open feature ticket, which really should still be in Draft.

### "Jira, a complete platform that increases productivity and successful execution of projects."

March 10, 2023

5.0

With JIRA, we can easily assign the priority to each task, to have an objective way that allows us to determine in which tasks we should allocate the greatest effort of our workers and which ones can be rescheduled.Another important aspect is precisely the recording of the progress of the activities, since in JIRA we can do it simply by belonging to the team members who have this role, and in this way, not only the project manager is responsible for doing it , but now it is treated as a collaborative and incremental work, lightening the workloads, execution, and the rest of the activities.

Pros

JIRA is a project management platform that definitely increases visibility and promotes collaboration, with multidisciplinary and even multicultural work teams. Jira organizes the planning and execution of almost any type of project extremely quickly, from large or large, where multiple tasks are supervised, and with a high degree of complexity, to flexible implementations that require simple and collaborative work.In this way, with JIRA we manage the entire execution cycle and even subsequent phases associated with evolutionary maintenance, roadmap, and support.

Cons

Jira is really intuitive, and its functionalities allow the successful execution of large or small projects, however, for the result to be impeccable, we must prepare all the team members and train them properly, and in this way we can expect a process without complications, on the other hand, the licensing may not be as flexible as other usable tools currently on the market but it remains in the average range.

Switched from

### "A Very Good Tool for Project Management"

January 13, 2023

5.0

Overall experience is JIRA is positive from my side. Managing tasks, sub-tasks, stories, bugs, and features is very easy to maintain. Logging time is also good. The watcher list is a very good feature.

Pros

I mostly liked the ticket creation and assignment part. It is very easy in JIRA to create a ticket and assign that to a user. We can integrate other software like Bamboo, SVN, etc with JIRA easily.Overall JIRA is very easy to use. There are a lot of Basic and Advanced filters. Search is quite powerful.

Cons

No collaboration features to communicate with team members and little hard to set up the first time.

### "Jira is a fantastic tool for managing projects"

March 15, 2023

4.0

If you need to keep tabs on reports about problems with a project or software, Jira is the way to go. Users on a team can quickly and easily share data with one another. Jira is very adaptable, allowing for seamless integration with a wide variety of different platforms. The best thing is that we have connected it with Slack, making communication much easier and saving a ton of time for everyone involved.

Pros

Project, issue, bug, task, and workflow management are all handled by Jira software. All phases of a project's development life cycle, from planning to coding to testing, may be managed from within the system.

Cons

Problems with the software cause the window to take a long time to load, and real-time updates and app integration are also areas for improvement.

### "Simple and scalable agile tracking tool "

August 2, 2022

5.0

My daily tool for productivity tracking since 2007, I can use other tools but overall JIRA offers the best set of features for the price.

Pros

It’s pretty abundant in features and productivity reporting. Works well for simple agile projects but can also work with scaled agile. Free for 10 users is a great way for new teams to explore and learn it.

Cons

Some powerful features such as dependencies between projects are part of their “advanced” offering, which is an extra subscription.

### "A complete project management suite!"

July 11, 2022

5.0

The main business problem that Jira tackles are keeping track of all the various projects inside a company. The stakeholders can get a high-level view of every project whenever they like, the business teams know what's coming up with the product so they can pitch appropriately to customers.

Pros

What makes Jira stand out from other project management tools is the ecosystem of products that it sits in. Atlassian has a solution for everything. - Confluence for Knowledge base - Service Desk for IT or any type of requests - Bitbucket for version control - Jira for Project Management It's a very well-thought-out project. Everything from sprint planning to scrum to project planning can be seamlessly handled in the Atlassian suite. We've extensively used Jira & Confluence for Engineering.

Cons

Jira doesn't have a dark mode. In a world where most people their daily tools in the dark mode because it's easier on the eyes, Jira still lacks this. It's on their Q4 roadmap. Let's wait and see if they get it right.

### "Enablement of Team collaboration for Agile projects. "

September 16, 2021

4.0

JIRA is a great tool that allows for greater team collaboration within Agile projects. It is easy to use and very intuitive. Sometimes connectivity can be a problem especially with the cloud based versions. JIRA definitely provides more value than shortcomings.

Pros

1\. Different user roles can be defined to allow for segregation of duties. 2. Epics can be defined to assist with long and intermediate project planning. 3. Duration of sprints can be defined according to project requirements. 4. Statuses for user stories can be used for tracking progress as well as workflow management. 5. Allows for bulk import of epics and user stories which can fast track administrative tasks where this information has been captured elsewhere e.g. CSV format

Cons

1\. Only users from within the organization can be assigned to tasks and user stories. This can cause unnecessary delays where external users need to provide urgent input or contribution. 2. Statuses (user stories) cannot be defined specifically for a board where multiple boards exist within a project. 3. Only two types of users can be assigned to user stories, which are assignees and reporters. JIRA does not allow for multiple users (assignees) to be assigned to one user story.

### "My experience with Jira"

April 28, 2022

5.0

Absolutely.. I used that program in a big project in cooperation with a large Omani company, and it was a wonderful cooperation, and the reason for that was the ease of communication between us through that program, the ease of accessing the requirements requested by them, the ease of dealing with them, and the organization of the program for them.... All in all, it's a great project management software

Pros

In this program, I loved the way he manages projects and how to plan and manage time to finish these projects as quickly as possible.

Cons

How to deal with it because it takes time in the beginning to understand it

### "Great all-around tool for Agile project management and software development!"

September 14, 2020

4.0

My overall experience with Jira has been great so far. There is a lot more to learn and Jira provides that opportunity to create the best experience for me and my colleagues. They do keep introducing new features and facilitate an active community to gather feedback and actually act on it. Jira has definitely added a lot of value in how we do project management and software development at my company. It has his flaws but it still works out to be the best tool for us to accomplish the purpose at hand this far. I'm sure it will only get better from me and we can get the utmost value from Jira in the long run.

Pros

First of all, this product offered a free trial to experience the features first-hand without any strings attached. It was great to have the ability to go and play in a sandbox environment and carefully evaluate what it can and cannot do for me and how it can add value to my organization. Set up and gaining access was easy and quick. The different permissioning levels make sense to stay organized and maintain accurate information. Some of the features I liked the most was having a great UI for exploring and learning without much training. I was personally tasked with setting up a couple of projects and the respective boards for my teams and I was able to do that in a pretty self-serve way. The design is minimalistic and doesn't feel overwhelming, it is clean and navigable. Easily creating backlogs, sprints and administering those are also my favorite features because it makes it so easy to implement an Agile project management and software development culture. The categories of initiatives, epics, stories, tasks etc. align very well with the Agile methodologies in following the same hierarchy. I love being able to get a quick summary view of the tasks before diving deep into the details. Assigning owners, labeling, story points to track work effort needed, description fields, attachments, comments and seamless integrations with other products make it all the more user-friendly. Kanban Board views in Active Sprints tabs provides a clearly easy to understand view of progress.

Cons

Managing boards within each project is the first that comes to mind. Jira does not offer a standard naming convention for the projects and boards and this can cause some major confusion. I have hard coding this manually and training people to do the same to ensure consistency. If you attached Lucidchart diagrams or embed other important document within tasks or epics, they don't update in real-time or even with refresh which is frustrating. This runs the risk of people getting outdated information which can misinform their actions. The search functionality within Jira is also something that I like the least. It does not return optimal results or even close to optimal results. Sometimes it does not search for metadata and you have to remember the actual word you're searching for to track down a task. It returns an overwhelming amount of results and the filtering or sorting options available are confusing and hard to understand. Another limitation is that even though one project can have multiple boards within, it can only have the one same backlog of items which does not make sense to me. There also cannot be multiple sprints running across different boards and all of this makes me wonder what the actual difference between projects and boards are. Jira also lacks some automation in moving tasks to different statuses upon completion. The workflows are suboptimal and don't work as intended most times. The reporting capabilities within Jira are also quite weak in my opinion.

### "Good stable piece of software"

September 8, 2022

4.0

After all Jira gives me all I need to track issues, plan them and communicate with coworkers successfully.

Pros

I like multiple options and integrations, You can really adjust this tool under Your needs. Integrations with Teams, Notion, Gitlab, issue numbers are automagically recognized and linked - that helps a lot.

Cons

UI is definitely the worst part of Jira. Not too comfortable, not modern-looking, there is a lot of elements in the viewport. But You can deal with it.

### "JIRA works pretty great for projects and tasks"

August 31, 2021

4.0

JIRA has been very beneficial to us across all teams and it's very useful for service and technical management.

Pros

I like the kanban board, it works very well and looks simple to use (but it's not easy to setup). The task management for business project is very nice and the new feature of being able to look at the overall work like in a spreadsheet, definitely beats Smartsheet for me. I like that you can easily move your work when you're done using the board view, if you like.

Cons

Scrum/Agile can be difficult to setup because the Kanban board isn't so great when setting it up. I have run into some difficulties with it, their support board was helpful but it did not resolve the issue. Business projects do not have the ability to link to Bitbucket, it would have been nice to include task management with Bitbucket integration, it helps to appropriately follow up on tasks. The board view for tasks and sub-tasks doesn't work for me. I'd like to see that there are major tasks with steps of the child tasks (change the subtask icon too).

### "Streamlines management of complex workloads across a large team for efficient task management"

May 24, 2022

5.0

The biggest transformation in how we work has been the increase in efficiency and accountability that Jira has provided. As with all similar types of task management software, the most important Factor in success is team buy in, and we found that Jira helped us to track tasks and project work in a more granular way which helped staff plan their workloads better while increasing productivity.

Pros

Jira allows us to efficiently manage a tasks across a wide variety of different projects, assigning work easily to each team member and allowing us to run a clear process from briefing through quality checking. It has allowed the team to communicate more effectively and improved the overall quality of delivery with better expectation management.

Cons

We've used a variety of different task and process managment tools in the past - and still do for direct client work where they have a preference (e.g. Basecamp, Asana etc), and the interface on Jira is maybe not as attractive, but it works fine and allows good interaction.

Reason for choosing Jira

### "The only project management tool you need"

October 25, 2021

5.0

JIRA has been an integral part of our software development and project management journey and has just about all the tools you need to successfully manage your project or product offerings.

Pros

JIRA has just about every project management aspect covered in their offering and it's easy to set up and configure to suit your needs. Reporting, ticket tracking, requirement and comment tracking, workflow customization, task assignment and follow-up + more make the life of a project manager a breeze which would otherwise have to be done using a multitude of tools.

Cons

The permissions structure/permission matrix at the administrative level could be a bit more user-friendly as troubleshooting an incorrectly configured (permission) JIRA instance can be a hassle. Sometimes when new versions are introduced, some of the older features are dumbed down to make it easier for the user but for power users, this could cause confusion if they were wired to do some tasks using the old methods.

### "Long time JIRA user and Project Management "

September 22, 2020

5.0

My experience has been good but it does feel like the old software that has been around forever and everyone uses it because they have always used it and there are no alternatives.

Pros

Lots of features and a big ecosystem of add on. You can customize most sections to make your projects work inline with the software and the way it works. Easy for clients to see, review and update tickets and comment on issues. Easy to create Epic, Stories and Tasks for work to be completed. Easy to create and track sprints.

Cons

It is VERY expensive and you pay for every person you add including your clients. This means you either limit the amount of access your client gets or you pay alot of money to let them have a user in the system. It would be nice to see a limited client account. The cost of many add-ons can bring your total cost of ownership higher that you might expect. Things like time tracking require and add-on and can get very expensive. No built in GANTT and reporting is mostly covered in 3rd party add-ons Can be complicated to setup and manage. You need a person who is dedicated to the software.

### "Jira for Professionals"

April 12, 2022

5.0

I ran many small-medium-large software projects with Jira. Thanks to Jira, I used the Agile software development method in the best way with technological possibilities. I think that it will greatly reduce the burden of teams working on large-scale projects in terms of project management and project follow-up, and it will make work follow-up easier for managers. Even if Jira is not your Agile methodology for individual use, it will save you a lot of time and effort in planning, managing and documenting your projects compared to its counterparts in the market.

Pros

Jira is the most complete, stabilized and user-friendly software among many similar software on the market. Thanks to the support of the mobile application, you can follow your teamwork or individual progress wherever you are. Jira is a unique product for professionals.

Cons

Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to add features for each newly added 'issue' in the 'Board' section. It would be a great opportunity to have this feature, even if it didn't cost Jira much. After adding the 'Issue', of course, an 'issue' related to a great user interface can be edited, but there is no such interface at the time of adding.

### "Organized and Clear with Some Room for Improvement"

February 5, 2021

4.0

JIRA has become a useful tool with delegating tasks for our projects. No more questions or back and forth e-mails about where we stand with a project or if someone has included an update or not. The percentage area helps everyone on the project see where it is at and requires users to take ownership for the tasks they're assigned, in order to ensure the project is 100% complete. If you wish to share artwork or creative files, they open in a separate area and you can tag and make comments on parts of the artwork or creative file, without struggling to point out where the edit needs to be made. (A line will pop up and point to an area that indicates where a change needs to be made on the file. A comment bubble will appear with the details for what needs to change.)

Pros

You can assign projects to co-workers and tag them in content for the projects, which triggers an e-mail that is sent to each individual throughout the process. The percentage is clear and shows how far the project is in the process. Easy to lay out the steps needed to achieve 100% completion. People take responsibility to complete their tasks, or else it sits. E-mails are automatically sent with every update or change.

Cons

Depending on the project and who owns it, sometimes the individual who started or owns the project needs to grant access to other users to view and receive the updates. In order to receive all of the e-mails when assigned a project, you must ask an admin to add the appropriate people as a group or team, versus the individual being able to request access/being able to add themselves to a project. You have to manually check off that you saw alerts in the Notification area.

My experience has been very pleasant, as a project manager working on multiple projects, Jira has been a powerful and useful tool in tracking the progress of the tasks and has made forecasting for completion of these much easier. I am very content with the software.

Pros

### "Thoughts on JIRA from a non-programmer: Still easy to use"

July 26, 2018

4.0

Tracking, organization

Pros

I am a technical writer who used JIRA as my first introduction into working in a close-knit, agile programming environment. I really appreciated the clean design, multiple ways to accomplish tasks, and logical visual representations of concepts. Is something assigned to you? It has your face on it. We had several development teams working in tandem and JIRA allowed for each team to structure their sprints according to their own preferences (some had more traditional set up and others used kanban). As time went on we were able to add more projects to JIRA, after transitioning off of ClearQuest for our baseline fixes, and while there is certainly a learning curve getting established programmers who have used one system of tracking for 10+ years converted to using JIRA, most everyone was able to transition and feel comfortable within a few weeks. Speaking as a non-programmer, I found JIRA to be incredibly useful and easy. Tracking writing and editing projects through development didn't require any specific setup or features and it was all around a great tool.

Cons

While it was great that every project could be tracked from our one JIRA site for my relatively small (30ish people) development team, any time fields needed to be added for one specific team to track something for stories or bugs, it was there for everyone. This led to having rather cluttered add screens that meant for a good deal of scrolling. I know some of this was surely user error, but having a bit more control would be nice. Also, the search function occasionally would just... not work. At all. As adorable as the sad faced little magnifying glass was when this happened, it would be very frustrating to lose functionality without warning. Being browser-based always makes for risk and some days would just be constant checking of if JIRA was up again so untracked progress didn't fall through the cracks.

### "Issue Management done Well Enough for Most Software Development needs"

June 24, 2022

5.0

We use Jira for planning, tracking, and managing projects.

Pros

Its quick and works quite well for what its meant to do. I've been using it for most of the past 12 years. It is highly customizable and can be as light or as heavy of a burden on your employees as you want. For the most part, it stays out of your way of getting work done. If you can get your developers to update their tickets appropriately, it will generate a lot of nice reports for managers that can be used for future planning and to see how teams are doing. If you are a medium sized organization (more than a couple projects and/or dev teams) you probably want to have someone who's job it is to manage tickets in Jira: triaging bugs, making sure feature tickets are actionable, that tickets have the correct information, that they get updated appropriately, etc.

Cons

Like a lot of project management tools like this, you can get too much information. There almost needs to be a developer view, a tester view, and a manager view of a ticket. There are sooo many fields on a ticket and each role cares about a different subset of them. You kind of learn over time which ones you need to pay attention to in each role.
