### "Jira Atlassian software online is the best but could easily be so much better!"

December 11, 2019

3.0

Pros

I like how I can organize my team, so we're rowing in the right direction when it comes to software development. With Jira, it is easy to check the board for what the team is currently doing, what is not started yet, and what needs to be pushed across the finish line. It is honestly the best software out there for what it does. Backlog grooming is done well using this software as well. I like being able to customize swim lanes.

Cons

If you want to do anything more than just customize how many swimlanes you have on your active jira board, it gets complex really quick with ticket statuses. I often times cannot do what I want to do without going into a million screens to figure it out. And even then, I end up not having enough permission to do what I want to customize what is displayed when you drag a ticket from one column to another, etc. Nightmare. Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Jira, get with the program and follow standard linking convention. If I link to a web site that is NOT on the same domain, open it in a new tab or window. DO NOT open it in the same browser tab. This is just wrong. Local links (same domain) can open in the same tab, but foreign links should open in a new tab. Period. It drives me crazy when I click on a link in a comment and I get busy and then wonder where my backlog went! This happens way more than I'd like to admit. Also, one more simple game-changing request that the software currently doesn't do: When I'm backlog grooming, I'd like to group select a bulk set of tasks and figure out how much time estimate in aggregate they all are. Nowhere can I do this easily unless I literally make a fake sprint and shove them all in it. PLEASE add a summation at the bottom of the screen for when multiple tasks are highlighted, like how spreadsheets sum selected cells automatically! I should NOT have to go to great lengths just to see what several task estimates/story points sum to.

### "Great tool for collaboration"

April 12, 2021

5.0

Jira is a great tool for collaboration. It helps a lot in organizing deliverables and managing them in a structured way to fulfil customer or product commitment for a team that follows agile framework. It comes with integration with other tools like zendesk, slack etc. that makes life far easier.

Pros

I liked managing tasks, easy creation of them and breaking down to multiple sub tickets to prioritize, schedule and assign to team members based on their expertise and visuality of the progress on those in a sprint timeline. Also there was Slack hooks which helped to get update in Slack easily, saved us from checking emails and the Jira web

Cons

Dragging and dropping of tickets within sprint boards were sometimes confusing as the selection border did not cover all of the selected items. Sometimes it required to refresh the browser to see reflection of the update in one segment done in another related segment of the UI. Out of the box previews for uploaded MS doc files did not give correct preview of the files all the times.

### "The only tool Engineering, Product and Project Management teams need"

August 5, 2022

5.0

My overall experience using JIRA for the last 12 years has been positive. I have seen this product evolve to a point where it is now the single most widely used tools by engineering product and project management teams

Pros

First of all, the tool is extremely lightweight from a deployment perspective and also from usability perspective as well. It allows for seamless saving of information as you type and that's a pretty good feature the user interface is very well laid out and is very easy to navigate through the tool across various screens. Teams across the organisation can view the status of the development items across different projects and across different boards, per developer. JIRA can also be used to track tasks and banwidth allocation for various teams as well. The extension of confluence is the best feature that you could extend to a JIRA instance for your developers

Cons

The amount of integrations that JIRA comes out of the box with can overwhelm new users. It does have a slight steep learning curve, but once the user is comfortable using the system they should be able to navigate through the tool seriously

### "Using Jira"

May 20, 2022

4.0

Overall I feel as though my experience with Jira is positive, and I'm likely to recommend it if I'm ever in the position to need to recommend a task and time management system to someone. The issues that I've had haven't really been with things that are extremely important to the core functionality to the site, and when I have had them they haven't been very major problems.

Pros

I like that Jira makes it easy to manage and see the tasks that are assigned to you through the dashboard, where it displays all of the tasks that you need to do, and through the sprint function where multiple projects can be put on one sprint. On this sprint page it's very easy to adjust what stage a task is in. Along with this the software makes it easy to log time to issues. In the bottom right hand corner there is a play button that you press when you start working on an issue and a stop when you are done. Once hitting the stop button it automatically fills out when you started working on an issue and how much time you spent on it.

Cons

I feel as though the time sheet could be improved a little bit. Currently if you work on a very small amount of issues per time frame that you want the time sheet, it doesn't actually take up that much of the page. For me, I usually work on around 5-7 issues per week, and as such the issues really only take up a small portion of the page. I also feel that if you are assigned to a large amount of projects it can be cumbersome to go and find a specific project if you don't already know the link or haven't worked on it recently. Thankfully this doesn't end up being much of a problem that often, but when it does it is sort of annoying.

### "Integrations and product backlog organisation are great - UX needs work"

October 28, 2023

4.0

Great for product backlogs and integrating with development pipelines

Pros

Jira is great at integrating with other tools, especially those within our development pipeline such as Gitlab. It means that our developers, testers and other team members can be shown clear information on each card (or task), by pulling in information into one view.

Cons

The UX can be a little clunky at times and administration of it isn’t always simple. It’s functional, but it’s not as easy to use as Trello. When the purchase Trello I had hoped they’d make it similar to the front end of Trello.

really enjoy working with Jira make every thing really more orgenazied and more easy to track all the tasks (mines or others)

Pros

Creates a lot of order in tasks, in this company he replaced a lot of the work that was previously done in emails and tools, creates order, organization and it is easier to keep track of tasks.

Cons

the filters not really easy to be used , i am adding label with the name to track all my task .

### "Jira - Worth It"

June 30, 2021

4.0

Overall this is a great product that I would recommend for small and perhaps larger teams, it has worked well for us to minimize the inbound flow of support requests (or at least provide a single channel) and during the COVID-19 outbreak has helped substantially in keeping track of issues from remote users who can't "tap" you on the shoulder.

Pros

I think Jira is great that it allows us to build workflows for our support team, as well as for use as a project management system when planning out software development timelines and estimates. This tool has really reshaped the way we look at IT, and provides the metrics and analytic information to back us up.

Cons

The learning curve is pretty steep with Jira, getting into some of its more advanced functionality like integrating with other software and initially setting things up takes some time. As well, the Confluence pages have great amounts of features, but the formatting is a little awkward on the web interface.

### "Jira improvisation "

August 28, 2022

4.0

Well, overall it is positive only. I personally find it a suitable software. It had made our working on task easier. Previous we used to create channels on slack and get the tasks done

Pros

Creating subtasks is quiet a task with jira and the notification does not always work well. However, it is very convenient to tag and mark tasks. It is more comfortable than our previous mode of handing tasks

Cons

The stages to complete the task is quiet lengthy. The queue management can be made a little more flexible

### "A substantial confederate to manage your business efficiently "

July 14, 2022

5.0

This software indeed saves the time and efforts behind some recurring and taxing tasks and makes them clearer and systematic.

Pros

The customisable workflows and real-time updation of dashboards makes the journey through the project roadmap highly efficient. The significance given to minute details and updates from the step of project planning to it's management makes this process less cumbersome and regressive. The clarity in the reports and insights which inturn brings definiteness in the running, to do, reviewed tasks help in smooth functioning. The ease of editing and updating attributes, scheduling and keeping track of the project and it's ongoings indeed makes this a commendable software.

Cons

The interface of the ongoing roadmap management template can be simplified.

### "So many features that make it slow, complicated and annoying for the day to day"

October 3, 2020

3.0

At the beginning when they announced the change to this new tool and when doing the initial training it seemed super attractive and more sophisticated, I had some rejections (as with all changes) but I thought they would soften or improve as I got involved in the day To day with the tool, without a doubt I thought that due to the level of detail we could have many more and better metrics of our performance because the software measures everything. The problem is that with the passage of time I have been getting more things that I dislike and the initials do not stop bothering me, they could even bother me more at a certain point. Maybe you have to invest a lot of time and understanding to really see how the tool contributes to management, but so far most of the time I have seen it as a burden.

Pros

I really like the level of detail and control you can have when it comes to team planning. When the cycles begin, when they close, the stages and hierarchies that can be built within the same project or task. I consider that for projects that require a great level of detail it is extremely precious and necessary to leave nothing to chance.

Cons

Although I value all the level of detail that can be indicated for a task / project, when simpler tasks are required, follow-ups, daily operation, the little flexibility of the tool becomes totally annoying to ignore some unnecessary parameters. On the other hand, the responsibilities of the tasks always fall on a single member, which can generate an imbalance in the measurement of team performance, as one person is probably left with many more activities than others. What bothers me most from day to day is that on the activity board every time a card is moved to another column (example from "To Do" to "Doing") the board does not update automatically but it gives you an annoying signal It is not updated and until you refresh the page it will not allow you to move that card or any other, it will continue to show you "board not updated", this really makes the tool a little agile for larger teams and with precise and short follow-up meetings.

Switched from

[Trello](https://www.capterra.com/p/211559/Trello/)

We changed because the company decided to invest in Jira, to better interconnect all the teams with agile methodologies in the organization, something that from what I understand Trello did not allow us to do.

I'm a fan girl.

Pros

Having used JIRA on prem, then on demand, then service desk and service management, both as a client, and vendor, including project setup and training, I think it has all you could ask for. Once you're familiar with the UI, you're good to go. It's highly customisable. Great NFP offering

Cons

With permissions, screens, schemes, and custom fields, there can be some complexity. I'd be surprised if anyone implements it without at least one add-on

### "A robust application that can be used for everything from task management to software development"

November 2, 2021

4.0

We started using Jira for simple issue tracking for all issue types, from bugs and ideas to backlogged and in progress tickets. We have since expanded this to track our full development roadmap and to produce documentation within Confluence. We have also taken advantage of the integration with Gitlab and Sentry to help give us a more clear picture of what's going on, even when it isn't happening directly in Jira.

Pros

Jira has a weekly release schedule which means the product is always being improved or changed. This is usually a good thing, although I will admit that sometimes it isn't. Jira is also incredibly functional for a broad range of use cases, from managing a simple to-do list, team task tracking, process automation, to software development. They do a good job of making it user friendly and easy to onboard, especially since they started making drastic UI improvements a little over a year ago.

Cons

A consequence of being capable of so much is that it can be hard to configure initially. More specifically, which features you need and which can be disabled. There are a lot of great features but some just complicate the workflow, and it usually takes time to figure this out.

Reason for choosing Jira

### "The Gold Standard for Issue Tracking"

May 14, 2022

5.0

At the end of the day, what you get out of JIRA depends on what you put in. Investing in ticket templates and creating JIRA-based workflows can help immensely with team organization, productivity, and historical record. It can also be a hinderance if you're just using it for the sake of it (or duplicating recording of efforts elsewhere). Overall, we've found it streamlined out stand-up meetings once we moved the format to running through a list of tickets by individual/due date - it keeps us on task, and provides both a clear top-down breakout, and more granular views when necessary.

Pros

JIRA feels like the gold standard for ticketing software, and for good reason. It has a long history, and lots of buy-in throughout multiple industries. It helps to keep individuals and teams organized, plan out resourcing, and provides an easy to access historical record of bugs/issues/projects.

Cons

One thing that's often difficult is the ability to create recurring tickets for issues/projects that occur on a regular cadence. You can clone existing tickets which works, but it's not exactly efficient. There's also a bit of a general learning curve - creative views and dashboards is possible, but it's not as intuitive as some of the drag-and-drop competitors that are popping up.

### "JIRA provides essential tools for creating, tracking, and deployment new applications!"

March 14, 2022

5.0

Overall, I am quite happy with JIRA! It has all of the features and tracking that I need to be successful as a project manager using the Agile methodology to develop applications. Also, the integration with Github will definitely prove to be a useful feature when my company begins using continuous integration/continuous deployments within the coming weeks. For tracking and development, I'd recommend nothing else but JIRA!

Pros

I like that most of the features of JIRA are quite intuitive. When I started using JIRA as a tech support specialist, I was able to easily utilize everything I needed to create bug tickets without needing specialized training. As a project manager now, I have had to review more detailed documentation to use the more complex features and tools, but application development is quite complex in itself so that's definitely understandable and expected.

Cons

The thing I like the least with JIRA is that when you're managing tickets within sprints or backlogs, some features are only available within one specific view. For example, you can't clone a ticket within the backlog view, you have to open the individual ticket for the cloning option to appear. It's hard to remember which options are available within a specific view. I'd like JIRA better if options were more universal but I do understand why certain operations are limited to certain views.

Overall my experience is great and we don't plan to switch away from JIRA anytime soon. It is our number 1 task management software no matter the project or technology.

Pros

The most important feature the kept us on JIRA for years would have to be the task management in between projects. With the ability to have dashboards to see across projects it is critical to our weekly sprints.

### "The Go-to Agile Management Tool for the Enterprise"

July 7, 2022

5.0

I manage a team of 11 people whose job it is to engineer and install a crucial piece of monitoring throughout the enterprise and use Jira to assign and regulate their workflow.

Pros

We began our Jira journey years ago and have been using the tool successfully for just as long. As a team taking on Agile methodology in an enterprise where is was a very new concept, we needed a tool that was easy to learn, intuitive to manage and one that provided integration with extensions for our Agile ceremonies. Jira provided all of these things at an affordable price that has kept us working at a large scale enterprise level for many years. Navigation is simple, intuitive and while there is a small learning curve, most of our new team members have been able to pick up on things within the first few months. As our team's ScrumMaster and Product Owner, I enjoy using this tool to manage sprints and stories and generally never have to wrestle with the tool to make it do what I want it to do.

Cons

The only drawback I have had with this tool is that sometime extension/plugin management can be a pain, wherein it is tough to locate what you have overall and how it is costing you. We've also had issues with duplicate versions of the same extension/plugin that led us to Jira support, which does leave a bit to be desired as it took a while to arrive at a resolution.

### "A powerful tool for a number of different users."

May 18, 2022

4.0

Jira is a great tool that can add simplicity to understanding where things are at in your product management/software development process. I can highly recommend it for anyone looking to get the simplest overview possible.

Pros

Jira is a great and user-friendly tool that supports a number of different use cases. If you want to simply have a Kanban board with basic tasks, you can do it. If you want to dive deeper into the world of Scrum, you can also significantly improve the way you categorize and estimate ideas and product management tasks. The number of integrations available also makes it the best tool out there for all kinds of workflows.

Cons

Jira can be used in many ways and is infinitely flexible, it is possible to go down a rabbit hole of trying to use too many features and learning how each individual team uses it can be challenging. Aside from that, I find it to be a great tool.
