### "A necessary tool for development and project management"

March 26, 2024

4.0

Pros

Jira offers a wide variety of options to help manage projects, tasks, schedules and more throughout the development lifecycle.

Cons

Jira is often evolving and changing its user interface which causes confusion in larger teams and it's often difficult to establish best practices.

### "Flexible tool to track everything you need"

February 3, 2022

5.0

Pros

The customisation was a big selling point of this, I've been part of organisations of more than 2000 employees all using Jira in very different ways and it managed to adapt to each teams needs. Wether it's with regards to each teams workflow, like having different stages on the software development life cycle, or with stuff like the fields needed for each requirement or ticket, it managed to cover most of our needs. Also the integration with other tools is excellent, we triggered Jenkins jobs right from within Jira and also updated the tickets back and all worked perfectly.

Cons

Some of the stuff can only be achieved by external (and most of the time, paid) plugins. In particular we had to get a Zephyr plugin to track testing and some other things. It can also be a bit difficult to setup, but that's a tradeoff with being customisable so it's understandable.

### "Power tool with only a few flaws"

August 10, 2022

4.0

Love the flexibility with the tool and the powerful automation capabilities. Having separate modules for both internal task management and external client support work well together. Product team needs to listen more to their customers and make new features optional with a toggle button vs. arrogantly assuming their change is for the better for all users.

Pros

There are almost endless ways to customize the tool to suit your needs. There is a bit of a learning curve to understand how all the components fit together, but once you get the hang of it its pretty smooth. The automation feature are easy and fun to implement.

Cons

My main gripes about Jira are the fact that Atlassian often makes update to the software assuming that the change benefits all their customers, when often it does not. Then despite numerous complaints they stand behind their change. I understand the need to evolve and make updates, however they can achieve this by making the new features optional with a toggle switch so users have the choice whether to use them or not. We use Jira Service Management to manage inbound support requests for clients. For privacy reasons the software no longer displays the user's email address but we need this information to identify the client. This can be problematic at times. Lastly, reporting options are sometimes limited and we need to rely on 3rd party plugins to provide information for an added cost.

### "JIRA - Get Your Tasks Done!"

March 21, 2024

4.0

Overall, JIRA tool gets the job done and would recommend it. Highly impressed by its features like issue tracking, project management, agile development, customizable workflows and integration with other tools.

Pros

\- Allows us to easily create, track and manage issues and tasks. - Supports agile development and it has features like scrum and kanban boards. - Integrates well with Confluence and Bitbucket tools from Atlassian.

Cons

\- When saving a jira issue, it doesn't inform about all the missing fields in the form at once. - It has too many fields within testing, release notes, system impact analysis, etc. which could very easily confuse new users.

### "JIRA gets the job done"

November 1, 2023

5.0

JIRA gets a lot of hate but honestly I like using it!

Pros

The most important features in JIRA are just the way that you can organize work. From epics, stories, tasks, and bugs, everything else. I also love the story points for estimating, and when you are successfully seeing story points, you can then view the Burn Down chart and it's amazing. Also, it has an integration with git so we can instantly see linked pull requests and commits.

Cons

JIRA will crash out from time to time. That's a very hard problem to solve in general.

### "Use of JIRA for complete tracking of your project and time management"

October 27, 2020

4.0

JIRA offers complete package for project management tasks like requests , defects ,tasks for a particular project at one place. It also offers time tracking feature which is helpful in tracking project activities and also in planning for upcoming work in advance.

Pros

JIRA offers to manage project related requests , tasks ,defect to be mapped under single project which in turn help greatly in project management activities. The syncing of time tracking with associated project tasks and requests helps in gathering reports wrt project budget management. One can track number of hours spent on particular project which can in turn help in future project budget management and in order to manage any upcoming work in advance. JIRA is very good tool for project related activities and maintaining project dashboards , sprints ,taaks etc

Cons

Ease of use can be improved as for some process if one is not aware then it would take considerable time to figure out in JIRA like how to start Sprint or how to manage different project dashboards and tasks. Jira can provide additional features for mapping or storing test cases so that all project artifacts can be at one place related to particular task. JIRA can also provide some additional features like defect ,test case management related activities to make it complete package for test management cycle of project.

### "Visibility to all aspects of our projects."

May 1, 2024

5.0

Pros

I love Jira's customizable workflows. I have leveraged this key Jira provision to setup triggers within my departments software project management processes. This triggers enable my team automate minor , repetitive tasks thereby saving us critical work time.

Cons

Jira is not an intuitive project management software. This lack of intuitiveness does create problems for beginner users, especially those who have very little experience using a project management software.

### "Best Scrum tool"

August 17, 2021

5.0

This is my go-to tool whenever I start with any team

Pros

I really like using Jira from Atlassian. I usually use it in the scrum and with the support team to open tickets and solve them. It integrates with a lot of tools and has a lot of plugin-ins that I use.

Cons

Using it with Kanban as it didn't support all the required features in sophisticated board design in Kanban.

Alternatives considered

[Businessmap](https://www.capterra.com/p/148476/Kanbanize/)

Reason for choosing Jira

It is simpler and has a lot of plugins and integration. Simpler and to the point.

### "Review of Jira (2022): Features, Costs, and More"

August 23, 2022

5.0

Jira is designed to track a single item of any kind from beginning to end, known as an issue. The issues that need to be tracked are grouped together in projects, and the issues are further divided into stories and tasks. Agile development is supported by Jira. Development teams can select a project based on their needs thanks to the software's inclusion of scrum, kanban, and bug tracking boards. It's quite simple to manage sprints to address problems. Utilizing various project views, such as user stories and narrative points, issues themselves can be monitored and recorded. Jira was initially created to keep track of defects during the software development cycle. Tracking, recording, and fixing bugs is incredibly easy thanks to the software's built-in bug tracking template.

Pros

Scrum boards for agile sprint teams Kanban boards for real-time workflow visualization Bugs are simple to find, track, and record high standard of security and safety

Cons

Not an intuitive and user-friendly interface for those who are not developers Limited assistance for working with outside parties

### "The best at what it does"

January 9, 2019

5.0

JIRA has helped us to organize our projects and keep them organized. Combined with the other atlassian products, we've streamlined how we document our work and stay organized. It's allowed us to do a variety of projects with different project management methodologies and workflows all within one software platform. It's also allowed a great deal of transparency into the development process for management which has greatly reduced the workload on project managers by automating some of the report generation necessary to show progress. JIRA isn't perfect, but it's by far the best project management software I've worked with.

Pros

JIRA is ticketing and workflow management software. The things I like most about JIRA are how customizable workflows are, the availability of additional third party plugins, and how well it integrates with other atlassian products. The integration with other atlassian products improves our workflow significantly in IT and development, it allows us to link git commits through FishEye and documentation pages through Confluence to every JIRA issue. JIRA's customized workflows also help us stay accountable to eachother. Because the workflows have specific permissions and assignees built into steps in what we do they help insure that the right person does the right thing at the right time. I don't think we could work without JIRA or something similar.

Cons

The software has gotten progressively slower over the last few revisions. That's my only complaint. The first load of JIRA in the mornings especially seems slow (About 20 seconds in the browser).

### "Powerful project management, SDLC and bug management software for agile teams"

August 12, 2018

4.0

Pros

I've used JIRA a few times, along with Confluence when I was on contract with a few large enterprise digital teams. I found JIRA to be excellent as a tool to share files, track project conversation streams, and manage multiple versions of files through the project lifecycle. Though I only ever used JIRA from an end user perspective, I always heard great things about the customizability (it seems to be a word) of the app to different business processes. Digital teams, such as UX design, development and copywriting are an ideal use case for this app provided stories and projects are set up properly. It's a great way to give stakeholders and PMs and other managers visibility into how projects are trending against milestones.

Cons

There were a few outages when I used JIRA, but it was generally reliable. JIRA seems to be one of those business applications where you're only using a fraction of its capability. Administration access should really be restricted to a qualified few, as you don't want to have conflicting stories tracking the same project, telling different information. The success of a JIRA implementation/adoption really relies on the quality of the data users, PMs, and development managers put into it. I found that I was writing a lot of updates and @ing people all over the place on one contract, yet certain PMs were still asking me for updates. That was less a JIRA problem, and more a condition of the people I was working with though, so I won't name names. :) - Moral of the story, you get out of JIRA what your teams put in, like many enterprise apps.

### "A developers perspective of Jira"

December 12, 2018

4.0

I have enjoyed using Jira at work. It helps keep our team on the same page and gives insight into what everyone else is doing. My opinion is that they have hit the mark in a big way and they just have some cleanup/maintenance issues to take care of.

Pros

1) Jira is performing well in the industry which results in lots of people integrating with them. The most impactful for us was the integration done with Zenddesk our ticketing system. Our support engineers are able tie Zenddesk tickets to our Jira issues and when issues are updated, so is the Zenddesk ticket. Very Cool! 2) Notifications were very well done in Jira. There is an in-app notification system (A bell in the bottom corner) but they can also be sent via email. They also are very smart about sending you only updates that involve you so that you are not notified too much. 3) Smart task ordering and prioritizing that work well in a development environment.

Cons

Most of the cons that I noticed are rather nit-picky however I believe there is room for lots of improvement. 1) Give for example the sprint page. There is a little star in the upper right corner. If I hover over the star I get a description that says 'Star'. That is not a great description of what that button will do for me. Users are dumb and won't figure things like that out on their own. 2) I think the UI is a tiny bit clunky. I see lots of wasted space here and there. Often times there are things that do not seem that important that seem to take up a lot of space. Also I'm not a big fan of huge collapsable side menus. 3) The many features that are offered in Jira make for a steep learning curve.

### "JIRA THE SOFTWARE THAT IMPLEMENT AGILE METHODOLOGY"

April 8, 2020

5.0

my experience with jira to the present day is due day by day, thanks to jira we have been able to solve time and deliverables problems since previously there was no control of the assignments and deliverables of the tasks that were to be carried out or that were being carried out . Today with jira it no longer happens since with this tool, when the agile method is implemented, we have been able to reduce all these problems considerably and in turn we have been able to supervise the tasks assigned to each of the team members, as well as its status, its process. or evidence of the problems that you have presented during the development, that topic is another very important one that allows you to pause the task as soon as they have problems and, above all, have evidence of the error

Pros

Jira helps us to manage the tasks that correspond to each member of the team day by day to implement the agile methodology since as soon as a task begins with it, we do not wait for the completion of this task to start, on the contrary, doing tasks according to your assignment. Through this tool we will be able to observe the progress of the tasks assigned to each one and we will even be able to learn more information to have the evidence of what is being worked on.

Cons

It is difficult to mention any defect that we can find to jira since, as I have mentioned before, it is useful for the implementation of the agile methodology. In addition to the moment that you give a status of your development, jira sends notification to the people assigned to this task or to the supervisors in this way the progress can be observed. In particular, I do not find anything displeasing to Jira or something that he lacks. I think he has everything essential to fulfill his objective.

### "Best App for Agile Project Management"

August 20, 2022

5.0

Excellent experience with a lot of features and customization support.

Pros

I like the most that it has a list of never-ending features which basically helps us to organize our projects very easily. Some of the examples are - I can create my customized dashboard, I can create boards for backlogs/sprint management, I can query my results and save them as my saved searches, I can even integrate with third-party apps for my dashboard management. Moreover, they also allow automation that makes our manual tasks quite easy.

Cons

It has a learning curve, I have been using it for a while, and sometimes I still learn new features every day.

### "Best and Must have tool for Agile methodology "

June 14, 2019

5.0

If you're into agile development then think no further, JIRA is the tool for you. It's ease of use and implementation makes it the best tool for tracking everything related to your project, It's a must have tool for agile methodology.

Pros

It has every Scheme to work with, may it be different Issue types, Workflows, Field configuration, Permission, Notification, Screens, Custom fields etc. It can be easily configured. JIRA and Agile methodology goes hand in hand. I believe Agile methodology brings out the best from JIRA and completely utilizes it to it's best potential, From flexible and rapid Issue creation and updation to have easily traceable developing environment, It does all with ease. Managers and Scrum Masters can not have a single meeting without JIRA Kanban Board. Every issue, every story is traced with in-depth details. from it's creation, execution till it's completion, Even after completion the history of every issue is maintained and can be over viewed with ease.

Cons

From feature perspective there are no such feature to dislike about JIRA. They're simple and easy to accomplish, Operations like Creating or Editing Issue(s) are easy and can be done by anyone. There lies the problem of such operations performed by any one. Rather they should have some access level of control with which they can initialize on individual issue to individual member involved with that issue. Even if someone does edit an issue on accident, they should atleast be prompt about the changes they're about to make, or save. and only after successful confirmation from the user, JIRA should allow those changes to be saved.
