### "Best product solve for prioritisation and tracking progress."

May 8, 2024

5.0

Pros

\- While multiple stakeholders are contributing to a project it's very clear to define the roles and contribution to the project. - When there are multiple tasks for single stakeholder Jira helps to define the priority order to each and every task. - Usage is simple for even management person to understand.

Cons

\- The cost control makes it's hard for company to provide access to everyone. - While people who have access can check progress from ticket but for people not having access the mail is not very user friendly to understand.

### "Review About Jira"

December 13, 2021

5.0

My overall with Jira is quite good because it is useful for fast-paced teams or agile workflow, you can build, test, and release software faster and more reliably it can integrate with first and third-party tools throughout the development life cycle. Jira is the best tool for agile processes.

Pros

1\. This software gives you multiple tools for task management for example burn up/down charts, scrum and kanban boards, etc. 2. Your teams can start with a project template or they can create their own custom workflow. 3. Good thing about this software is that it supports agile development methodology and it works best for everyone both its development team and management. 4. It has customizable permissions that enable admins to determine who can see or perform which action or task.

Cons

1\. It's a little bit difficult for newbies to understand. 2. There is room for improvement in GUI. 3. Sometimes I faced lags and delay work progress. 4. Price is a little bit higher than other tools.

### "Review on Atlassian JIRA"

May 31, 2020

4.0

Overall, JIRA does the job for our team and even though I am on the Systems Team, we ourselves are mostly users as well. That keeps the headaches in check (as things could be very frustrating when trying to administer the applications. See above for the reasons).

Pros

A team needs a ticket/issue tracking system and JIRA Atlassian seems to be used widely in the industry. As a user, it's easy to use for the most part. Besides having the option of hosting the application in-house, it also has the Cloud edition so from the Systems Team perspective, there's no need for servers, backups, security, keeping the service up (with fault tolerance), etc.

Cons

From the administration aspect of the software, JIRA still has a long way to go: 1) As an administrator, as far as I can see, one can \*not\* even do such a simple thing as change the Display Name for a user (I suppose it's a "feature" but I can't see why that's a good feature). Instead, an invite is sent out to the user, who can then set the Display Name after signing up. 2) As an administrator, one can login as another user to test permissions. That's normally a nice functionality for administrators. However, for some functionalities, while you are still logged in as another user, you suddenly go back to your normal identity. That's very confusing and thwarts the purpose. One potential good use is being able to login as another user to set/update the Display Name (see #1). 3) Setting permissions is not that easy. I tried to set permissions for an account that's used for scripting (using the REST API) but it seems very difficult (really, it should be easy) to get the permissions done correctly -- sufficient but minimal privileges. 4) The REST API is not great. The online documentation is often outdated and sometimes things don't work (with errors). Even when things run without errors, it might not actually do the thing that it's supposed to do (so you write the code for nothing when you expect it to work).

Reason for choosing Jira

JIRA seems to be the industry standard and the Cloud option makes adopting & implementing the solution that much easier.

### "JIRA Software for Scrum Team Projects"

September 12, 2020

4.0

Overall, JIRA is a the best solution for managing work for Scrum Team Projects I've used. It has the most features and covers most of what I'd want. The UI/UX could be improved to make features more clear and easy to use however.

Pros

JIRA has the vital features necessary for effective Scrum team projects. Important features include: \* Supports having multiple teams that each have their own sprints and backlog \* Create epics, stories, tasks and sub tasks to break down feature development into manageable chunks \* Write up and track bug reports \* Estimate project timelines via story points \* View sprint progress via a board of columns of progress (To do, Blocked, In Progress, In Validation, In Review, Done, etc) \* Communication on tickets/stories via commenting and email notifications

Cons

JIRA's user interface can be a bit confusing. Things like completing a sprint and starting a new one can often be harder than they sound because of things like stories/tickets still being in progress. There isn't a good way to account for partial carry over in estimation as stories/tickets either fully carry over or are completed. Some of the actions on tickets have different user interface depending on what view you are in. After creating a story/ticket, it can be hard to find where it went if you forget to add certain labels like which sprint it is included in or what team it belongs to.

### "Service management for more than just IT"

December 10, 2020

4.0

Even though this platform has been produced for the IT industry, it can be used for other industries with some simple tweaks to basic labelling and work flow. When the team I work in approach the organisation's IT department looking for a service desk platform, they asked us to try Jira (which they were already using themselves). With some quick learning and customisation of work flows, forms, labels and user access types, Jira has enabled our non-IT team to receive work requests, track their progress and report on ongoing and completed requests. General oversight of the team's work load and client break-up has been invaluable.

Pros

Service desk form creation is simple. The 'backend' management of the raised requests is also relatively simple with the added benefit of customisable approval flows to ensure any offline process your team follows can be matched within the flow in Jira. The ability for requestees to also rate closed requests is useful from a customer engagement perspective.

Cons

Some system labels are not as easily editable (which mostly only affects teams not using Jira in the traditional IT realm). The number of automated system emails can be daunting until you customise that feature to suit your needs.

Reason for choosing Jira

Although initially recommended due to the platform already being used elsewhere in the organisation already, the decision to stay with Jira was based on the platform's ability to flex with our team's non-IT requirements.

### "Jira always comes through when managing our projects. "

October 19, 2023

5.0

Jira helps us take charge of our project work from formulating work plan to actualizing and finishing the project. It helps us to collaborate on our projects as a whole team and this makes it possible for us to achieve better results. With Jira, we get to understand our projects from the beginning to the end and this help us finish them within the set budget and deadlines.

Pros

The greatest flex about using Jira is that we get exactly what we need to take care of our project work. We love it how it allows us to come together with every single resource we need to plan and actualize our projects effectively. Jira has very simple to use dashboards which help us have a clear visibility of the entire project workflow. We also get access to project reports for enhanced analysis, project documentation and progress tracking.

Cons

The learning curve was simple and short plus the interface is so straightforward. There is nothing complicated or confusing about Jira.

### "Jira keeps everyone aligned. "

March 13, 2023

4.0

Within my department, we use Jira to manage software projects. Jira helps align the efforts of each team member, resulting in quicker completion of milestones in team projects.

Pros

I appreciate Jira's ability to cater to various use cases, which is why even non-development teams in my company use it. However, the reporting feature is what truly sets it apart. The real-time insights it provides into my team's performance have been invaluable for measuring peer-to-peer performance and overall productivity within our software projects.

Cons

Team collaboration plays a crucial role in software project management. However, Jira's limited collaboration features beyond Scrum and Kanban boards make it difficult to ensure smooth collaboration among team members.

Pros

The way that everyone in the team can see the bigger picture to understand how tasks impact the project overall

### "Jira for bug tracking and project management"

July 18, 2019

5.0

I highly recommend Jira for a bug tracking tool and especially for Agile software teams. For us it has really made a difference in terms of: team collaboration, Agile methodology adoption, decreased time to market of new projects/new features and on the overall teams' spirit. We have seen a wide adoption for the other departments as well, non software development.

Pros

We used several bug tracking tools in the past but Jira is by far the best one. What I like most: - user friendly interface, provides a nice user experience - Agile SCRUM/Kanban support out of the box - extremely configurable on almost everything - extendable through custom scripting, either built-in or via addons - very collaborative - there are thousands of addons in the marketplace; you can even write your own

Cons

Being so flexible to be configured, the learning curve for admins is a little steep. The price is based on the number of users and if you experience wide user adoption in a big company, you end up in paying more for upgrading to the next tier, than if you would pay for that tier first time.

Switched from

[Bugzilla](https://www.capterra.com/p/119057/Bugzilla/)

Jira compared to Bugzilla is like the next generation of bug tracking tools, in almost all ways, excepting of course the price.

### "Jira effectiveness"

January 7, 2023

5.0

From the time I started off with handling my projects, jira helped me improve my management skills until I became very good at what I was doing, some activities that can be easily overlooked and being not easy to do like bug handling becomes easy to handle with jira and has helped me alot.

Pros

Jira Is very effective, especially for start ups, when we first started up with our projects, jira helped alot, and even when we reached a place where we thought we were better, we never stopped using it. On top of this.jira has a well managed mapping and and issue tracking abilities which is very useful.

Cons

Having alot of helpful features is great, but still jira has a few problems I noticed, for a start the platform starts looking so complicated as you are trying to get to the next level of it, this makes it hard to get used to the platform, and this helps with discouraging collaboration and team work, since some people would prefer to use other platform and hence a division.

### "Jira is a rockstar when it comes to managing your Agile or SCRUM development"

September 16, 2021

5.0

We've had a superb experience working in the Jira platform and it's pertinent to the success of our Project Department, Product Team, Dev Operations team, and Multiple Development teams.

Pros

I love the customization and user control. It also does a great job with updating owners of different stories/tasks via automated emails. We've been able to expand the platform across many departments as well with relative ease. For example, when I created out new Product team, we were able to create a new "project", add a product roadmap, create swimlanes for stories and manage a backlog easily.

Cons

Not many issues have been experienced lately but when we first moved to the platform, we had some major speed issues. That subsided when we updated to our own hosted version.

### "It allows the organization of activities in a dynamic way, it also facilitates the estimation of time"

June 13, 2018

4.0

Greater organization in the planning of activities and approximation in the execution times of the development of each of them, together with the application of the agile methodologies implemented for the development of the project.

Pros

The dynamic structure to organize the activities and the income of the estimation of the execution times of each task, since it facilitates the application of agile methodologies in software development projects. Jira also allows the inclusion of those responsible for the development of each activity, in addition to notifying the person in charge of supervising it, facilitating an early detection of impediments and / or progress during the course of the tasks that are carried out. Also, the integration of Git provides valuable help when verifying changes in the development of the source code. It also has the possibility of sharing information through files of different length (.txt, .pdf, word, .mp4, among others) in order to provide greater ease of understanding to the person responsible for carrying out the informed task. In addition, this tool offers precise search filters, saving time in the handling of the interface to focus on what the user wants to obtain.

Cons

1- The synchronization time of Git with Jira slows down with some internet connections, limiting the use of the benefits of this tool in some users. 2- The user has a lot of freedom to make changes in all the modules of the tasks. Although notification of the change should be a hierarchy of charges to perform them.

### "Indispensable application...but setup is not for the non-tech savvy"

December 5, 2019

4.0

When our internal IT Help Desk went down, we were in a bind. We needed something that we could get up and running with very little trouble and start getting help tickets going again. Despite there being a negative view of JIRA due to previous setup by non-technical users (who deemed it too complex); when the Help Desk was designed and implemented by the IT Team, there was very little talk of complication and more talk of how much better things were than the previous Help Desk. We did integrations with third-party collaboration tools and generated workflows and custom forms that made JIRA one of the best additions to our IT toolkit!

Pros

I love the quick and easy setup of JIRA spaces and it's integration with other Atlassian products. There are also a lot of third-party integrations to help fill-in the gaps.

Cons

JIRA is a beast. Plain and simple. Actually that's just it...it's not plain and simple. You have to have a good grasp of what you want from it to make sure you get what you really need. It is not friendly for the non-technical user looking to create a workspace.

### "Industry standard software - but usually overly complex for most projects"

March 16, 2022

2.0

Overall i have a mildly negative experience with Jira. I understand its critical use case but i find other software that is lighter, simpler and probably cheaper exist - particularly for smaller teams and projects. I have no experience in a larger 40+ member team using Jira and I feel its complex features are probably extremely useful for these situations.

Pros

It's very customisable for large companies and provides a lot of features that can be added into whatever workflow you want. Most new team members coming onto your project already understand how it works and why it is used and can be bought into your companies particular work flow very quickly

Cons

For every use case i have used this for in 4 different companies I have found that it is overkill. It often as a result has features that are not so useful for the average project. This adds complexity to the work flow that doesn't typically need to exist. In addition this often creates permission issues in adding tickets or modifying tickets.

### "Jira eases the pain to track task management"

November 6, 2020

5.0

We are able to collaborate between different teams from different projects. Also on-boarding new users from external company providers is straight forward. Scrum master ability to setup templates, eases the effort to standardize agile practices within the company.

Pros

Few clicks to create new tasks. Great set of actions clone, split, delete, flag, tag, etc. Extended and customizable workflow for different type of tasks. Filters are easy to create, API access provides extra power to integrate and produce custom reports. Great integration with confluence and source code repositories.

Cons

API could be better usable with official packages for most used languages as nodejs. There are lots of plugins to extend features, still experience with roadmap, releases, tests, etc; should be already on the core Jira.

### "A perfect application for project management"

September 19, 2022

5.0

Overall experience with Jira is Greate. Easy to use. It consume time.

Pros

I am using this application for the past 8 years. It is an amazing tool to track our work. Dasboard will display our work list. - Greate and easy user interface. - flexible app to create NPR, user stories, bugs, technical tasks etc. - Add labels to each ticket is the another help, where we can group the ticket with lable. - We can track the status of any ticket from OPEN to CLOSE. - Each ticket have the option to add detail like(Type, Priority, Status, Resolution, priority, lable , etc) and description, where we can add the full detail of the task. - Through the "Activity" part , we can track all the detail like comments, Work Log,History, Activity,Transitions and Stateoscope. - We can include the people who wants to know about the ticktes at "Watchers" list. As a developer, this software is a great helper to track my work and project my work to higher officials.

Cons

Adding tools like table columns and rows is still difficult at the description part of the task. other then that, As a developer I haven't find any Cons.
