Jira remains the gold standard for software engineering. Its workflow tailoring and tracking precision are incredible. However, configuration is a chore, and the UI feels heavily dated.

Pros

Unmatched sprint customization and agile workflows. Deep engineering tool integrations and tracking.

Cons

Clunky, overwhelming, and slow interface. Additionally Steep learning curve for non-technical users.

Writing Overall, my experience with Jira has been positive. It provides strong tools for managing projects, tracking tasks, collaborating with teams, and monitoring progress. While the platform can take some time to learn and may feel complex at first, its flexibility and customization options make it a valuable tool for organizing and managing work effectively.

Pros

The biggest advantage of Jira is its flexibility for managing projects and workflows. I particularly like how easy it is to track tasks, assign ownership, monitor progress, and customize workflows to fit different teams. The dashboards, reporting, and integrations also make it easier to keep everyone aligned and improve visibility across projects.

Cons

The main drawback of Jira is that it can feel complex and overwhelming, especially for new users. There are many configuration options, and setting up workflows, boards, and permissions can take time. The interface can also feel less intuitive than some simpler project-management tools, particularly for teams with straightforward needs.

It's a useful tool to speed up tasks and have a a good overview of what is going on. Easy to set up and to use. I think that some feature might be redundant or too much for some jobs, so it would be interesting to give users the possibility to simplify its own interface with things that are really interesting for them.

Pros

The Kanban board is really useful to manage tasks and to see in a glance their status. I also find it very intuitive to create new task, assign them to groups and follow them during different status of work. Backlog section and list too are very intuitive

Cons

The timeline is not working as expected, but it may depends also on how information have been added. We are not using all the possibilities offere3d by the tool, so it might be interesting to personalize more the interface once info are not used.

I was not involved in the decision, but I think it might has been done to reduce costs and centralize requests

Solid enterprise helpdesk platform that delivers once properly set up. We moved from email and Word documents to a fully structured support system — tickets are now routed, tracked, and auditable. The REST API and automation capabilities are the highlight, letting us build custom triage tools on top. Configuration complexity is the main drawback, but for a large global organisation it's the right tool for the job.

Pros

The REST API and queue management. We've built custom triage tools on top of the API that automate ticket classification, and the queue rules keep the right tickets in front of the right people without manual sorting.

Cons

Configuration complexity. Setting up workflows and permission schemes requires an experienced admin, and small changes can break things unexpectedly. The agent UI is also click-heavy for high-volume work.

My overall experience with Jira has been pretty good. I find it useful for keeping track of tasks, bugs, project progress, and team activities in one place. It helps me stay organized and gives the team a clear idea of what needs to be done and what is already completed. I especially like the ability to assign tasks, set priorities, add comments, and follow the complete history of an issue. It took me a little time to get comfortable with all the options and workflows, but once I understood the basics, it became much easier to use. Overall, Jira is a reliable tool for managing projects and collaborating with a team.

Pros

What I like most about Jira is how well it helps organize projects, tasks, and team collaboration in one place. It makes it easy to create and assign tasks, track progress, manage priorities, and follow issues from start to completion. I also like the flexibility of custom workflows, dashboards, and reporting, since different teams can set things up according to their working style. The comments, notifications, and activity history are useful for keeping everyone updated without having to rely on too many separate tools. Overall, Jira gives good visibility into project progress and makes it easier for teams to stay organized and accountable.

Cons

The main thing I like least about Jira is that it can feel a little complicated, especially when you are new to it. There are so many options, settings, and workflow features that it takes some time to understand everything. Sometimes the interface also feels a bit crowded when there are a lot of tasks or projects. A few simple actions can require more clicks than expected, which can be frustrating when you are working quickly. I think Jira would be even better if some of the common features were made simpler and easier to find.

Overall, my experience with Jira has been good, I mainly find it useful for tracking development tasks, bugs and project progress. Once the workflow is set up, it becomes much easier to manage work and keep track of what is pending or completed.

Pros

I like how Jira keeps tasks, bugs, and project work organized in one place. It makes it easy to see what needs to be done, track progress, and keep everyone on the same page. The boards and issue tracking are especially useful for managing development work.

Cons

Jira can feel a little complicated when you first start using it. especially with all the different settings and options. Some screens also have more information that I need, so it can take a bit of time to get used to the interface.

Does what we need for job tracking but honestly feels like we're using 20% of what we're paying for. For a smaller facilities outfit, there's probably simpler options that cost less. It works fine now that it's set up, but if I had to do it over I'd look at field service specific platforms first.

Pros

It keeps all our facility maintenance tickets and recurring service jobs in one spot, which is a big help. I can see what my field techs are actually doing without having to chase them down on the phone all day. The custom workflows are great for tracking jobs from the initial dispatch all the way through completion and invoicing. Plus, the mobile app lets the guys update ticket statuses right from the job site, so there’s a lot less paperwork for us to deal with at the end of the day.

Cons

Way more complicated than we need for a team of twelve. Spent two weeks just getting it configured properly. The pricing jumps fast when you add users - hard to justify for seasonal contractors. Interface feels built for software developers, not field operations. Takes new hires forever to learn it.

Jira is a good bug tracking tool, it's easier to attach attachments, link it documents in confluence

Pros

Ease of Use - well integrated with Confluence and BitBucket Task Management - easy to assign ticket to appropriate resources for next steps.

Cons

The new versions introduced sometimes become confusing and hard to follow along initially. But giving users some time to adjust to it helps.
