## What is Microsoft Lens?

Microsoft Lens (formerly Microsoft Office Lens) is a cloud-based solution that enables businesses to convert pictures, documents, and whiteboard content into PDF, Word and PowerPoint files. Those files can then be saved to OneNote or OneDrive. Handwritten text is recognized thanks to OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and allows words to be searched and copied for editing purposes. Saved files can also be shared via email.

It is useful for quickly scanning documents. No need to have access to a regular scanner. You can do it anytime and anywhere.

Pros

Great for scanning documents with my phone. It automatically detects the document edges, and makes it easy to save or share as a PDF.

Cons

It does not always detect the edges correctly, especially with poor lighting or unusual backgrounds.

Overall, my experience with Microsoft Lens has been very positive. It's a simple and reliable app for scanning documents, receipts, business cards, and notes, and it produces clean, high-quality scans with very little effort. The OCR feature and PDF export save a lot of time, and the integration with OneDrive and other Microsoft apps makes it easy to organize and share files. While there are a few limitations with editing and text recognition on more difficult scans, it's an excellent tool for everyday document scanning.

Pros

What I liked most about Microsoft Lens was how quickly it turns photos into clean, readable scans. The automatic cropping and image enhancement work really well, and it's easy to save documents as PDFs or send them directly to OneDrive or other Microsoft apps. The text recognition feature is also very useful, making it simple to copy text from scanned documents instead of typing everything manually.

Cons

What I liked least about Microsoft Lens was that the text recognition isn't always perfect, especially with handwritten notes or documents that aren't well lit. Occasionally I had to rescan a page to get a cleaner result. It also has fewer editing options than some dedicated document scanning apps, so making adjustments after a scan can be a little limited.

Very positive, many photos are almost unusable these days and this helps to transform them and make them more suitable.

Pros

Really useful tool for scanning and improving quality of images for distributing. Great technology!!

Cons

The learning curve is a bit steep, not always super intuitive for how to use it, but still once you get the hang of it, it is more easy.

I have been using lens to quickly scan old documents to create digital folders. It has allowed me to centralise my materials without using the scanner/photocopier in the office

Pros

Easy way to scan for pdf creation, it allows good centralisation of old documents and can integrate with other systems

Cons

Occasional difficulty in scanning with light and position but I find this still better than the majority of other pdf creation materials

Overall I have had a pretty pleasant experience using Microsoft lense.

Pros

I like how straight forward it is to use Microsoft lens and being able to save the files I scan to my OneDrive.

Cons

Unless the handwriting is super clean and clear, I wouldn't suggest using the ocr feature. Ocr work well on printed text and unless the handwritten text is clear and clean it will struggle to produce the correct words.
