Overall, I have had a great experience with Gusto. It has streamlined payroll processing and taken a significant burden off managing employee compensation and compliance. The platform is both user-friendly and intuitive for employees, while also being a dependable tool for businesses to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing. It doesn't have the same level of sophisticated functionality as larger companies may require, but it provides a great deal of functionality, usability and value for growth-stage businesses. It's a platform that functions in the background and makes everyday life a streamlined operation.

Pros

As a Senior Marketing Analyst, I appreciate tools that make my administration process easy, and Gusto does just that for payroll and HR. The site is very user-friendly and payroll runs are simple, even for those who might not have a finance or HR background. I really like the automated tax filing, the employee self-service options and the clear reporting. It minimizes human resource and automates access for employees to pay stubs, tax forms, and benefit details.

Cons

For larger businesses, some advanced payroll and HR capabilities are available only in higher tiers of Gusto plans, potentially bringing up costs with growth. In some cases, there are also some restrictions on more customized reporting and more complex HR workflows for larger companies.

Best payroll platform I've ever used especially for the price. That said we have a straightforward org chart, benefits offerings and compensation. If you have complex structure then you may be better served by a more traditional provider.

Pros

Ease of implementation. Simple user interface both on admin and EE side. I would caution the implementation support is a bit sparce however if you prepare on your end from your prior platform its a breeze.

Cons

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the lack of robustness on adjusting benefits as an admin. Everything has to go through their support. So just be sure that every payrun or onboarding is 100% accurate.

Paycom customer support was not impressive - there was an outstanding tax issue that was caused by the system and did not get reconciled for over six months of back and forth. This was the final straw for the switch.

Prior to inheriting Paycom when I started here years ago I was a huge Paylocity advocate and user. Considered them and then found Gusto when searching online. Have not gone back.

My overall experience with Gusto has been excellent. I've utilized many payroll & benefits platforms in my career, and Gusto is by far the best.

Pros

I like that it is very user-friendly, especially for someone in my role as a Payroll and Benefits Specialist. Their customer support team is also outstanding.

Cons

Off the top of my head, I honestly cannot think of anything I dislike about Gusto. Sometimes, though, it does spin for quite some time, and I will have to refresh the page.

While more expensive than our previous payroll provider, the amount of time saved from using Gusto is well worth it. With mass importing of timesheet data along with automatic tax form filing, I dont need to spend a ton of time actually doing the payroll but more reviewing it.

Pros

Simple interface, excellent integration with our payroll provider, many customized reports to understand how payroll dollars are being spent, both federal and state tax docs filed on our behalf.

Cons

Too many a la carte fees which many should be included in the base fee. As an example, there is a fee to have a two-day window for direct deposit, the base rate includes a four-day window which is one day after payroll ends, not nearly enough time to turn around payroll.

Switching from another payroll was seamless and processing payroll is easy and affordable. I would reccomend.

Pros

It's easy to sign up and you don't get billed until you run your first payroll. They will walk you through it and all you really need is your previous layroll reports to find all the info.

Cons

Their customer service after signing up could be improived. You shouldn't have to pay additional for "better" customer service.

Gusto is easy to use and has a lot of helpful information. If I have issues technical support is easily reached.

It was just okay. I did not appreciate their lack of ability to help me when I needed it most. Decided to go with a different company

Could reach a live person relatively quickly which is very unusual these days. Sometimes there were delays...

Cons

Could not get them to resolve my issue in a timely manner..I really needed them to help me due to a deadline of running payroll and instead they suspended my account!!!!

It provides everything we need in one place, including payroll, benefits, and retirement options, at a price that makes sense for smaller teams. The platform is easy to use, integrates well with other services, and allows us to stay competitive without taking on the high costs typically associated with larger providers. Their documentation is thorough, and their support team is consistently responsive and eager to help. Overall, Gusto has streamlined our operations and made managing payroll and benefits far less stressful.

Pros

Gusto offers excellent value for small to mid-sized businesses with transparent pricing and well-integrated payroll, time tracking, and performance tools. It’s user-friendly, easy to maintain, and backed by responsive customer support, though asset and work order management rely on external integrations.

Pros

I love how Gusto simplifies payroll and compliance, it automatically calculates taxes, files reports, and ensures everything stays up to date with the latest regulations. The employee self-service portal is also a huge plus, allowing staff to access paystubs, W-2s, and benefits easily.

Cons

It would be great if Gusto offered more robust reporting options for performance and proper tracking for attendance.

Gusto has been a wonderful addition to our school's Procare account, and has enabled me to spend my time talking to people instead of crunching numbers!

Pros

It is super easy to add new employees, to make any changes needed to an existing employee, and to run payroll on our schedule! The integration with Procare makes it a seamless process.

Cons

I can't really think of anything that is missing... they seem to cover all of the bases from taxes to onboarding help!
