Pros Nothing at all. Their service was forgetful and slow when they did respond to me bringing to their attention their mistakes with payroll. Email communications between myself and the company did not help resolve the matter. Cons Mistakes were not reversed even though many attempts were made on my behalf to communicate those mistakes. Their response to me took months when it should have takes days. Pros It worked well with integration with our HRIS application and able to connect with auto-deposit payroll payment system to help automating most of the payment process. The system is important to reduce mistake that happen with manual payment process that happening before. Cons Need a better support from the developer support for technical difficulties that we had with the system. Pros As soon as payroll was being processed you had instant access to your paystub, which is very handy with preplanning and bill organization. Pros I used to love the ease of data entry. With the new upgrade, special payments take too much time as the data doesn't end up where I intend. I add an additional check and the payment ends up on the standard check. Cons Their latest upgrade is a disaster. I mastered how to do special checks. Worked for 2 months and then changed. The data doesn't always go into the fields where it belongs and I have to do many pre-runs to get it right. June 14, 2024 5.0 A breeze to use is Heartland Payroll. Online, whenever I'm ready, I can send in the payroll. Even if I was busy when the call came through, I don't have to wait for it to end or to get a callback. Every time a customer calls or stops by, we answer the phone because we run a tight ship here. Pros I adore having a Payroll Specialist to check my paycheck or to help me if I experience any internet problems. But entering online is so much simpler than calling at the time I had scheduled to speak with someone. Cons To save me from having to remember to enter it every payroll, I would love if we could set up a recurring entry that only occurs at the end of the month, during payroll. It is difficult enough being a small business owner, this company could bankrupt you if you cannot weather the storm. It is very sad that a a company like this is still in business. They are suppose to provide professional services and according to my accountant and the TWC they are not held liable for their gross incompetence Pros The sales people. They were good, they personally visited me and the would still answer my call even after they sold me on their product. Cons We had a terrible experience. After the sales process was done, and we were promised the World, everything was downhill. We have had to pay over $12k in taxes and insurance audits due to incorrect reports. We have spent over 200 man hours and counting to fix their errors. Our employees never received correct W2s. We have 30 employees and Heartland has cost our company in excess of $20,000 and were with them for less than 1 year. They promised that their ideal company they served was our size and that we would be a perfect match. They reduced our weekly payroll costs by $50They promised us a personal representative that would be available any time day or night with a direct line to them. We were tired of ADP and UPS loosing our paychecks every other week. Then we spent half a day on the phone tracking it down. We could never get any from ADP on the phone without waiting. Pros What I liked most about Heartland Payroll was their push to work on the mobile app and making sure the employee has access to many of the features that Heartland payroll had to offer. Cons There are two different websites you needed access to in order to tackle the daily operations for Heartland while I was using it: One for Payroll and HR, and one for Onboarding and Time & Attendance. WHile that was becoming together on the mobile app towards the latter portion of our time with Heartland, there was no strides to do that for the websites. We were able to find several other payroll providers who charged less with many more features and benefits. Pros Heartland Payroll worked and did what it was intended to do. I was able to process payroll and pay employees on time. Cons My experience with customer service was not great. They were difficult to contact, and I always had to leave a message and hope they would call me back. Most of the time I would have to reach out several times to get something resolved. All tax issues I would attempt to handle on my own or be the middle man between heartland and the state to try and resolve. Better off doing it yourself. Pros The website worked alright for inputting hours. However frequently hours would be placed in the wrong job code. Cons Constant tax issues. Every quarter I would got noticed from the state saying my taxes were paid wrong. They don't check your amounts due for taxes. Surprise tax bills for several thousands frequently. Normally a 2 month response time for tax issues which make the following period also incorrect. Heartland told me they would fix my tax filing issues which was completely false. Pros It's great for keeping track of employee hours and managing payments, and the interfaces are extremely user friendly for the most part. Their customer service is very good as well. Cons The website occasionally has issues loading, I don't know if it's due to high traffic or some other issue, but it can sometimes be frustrating when the page is unavailable. They are really nice setting up my account, and every time I have an issue. Since our team only gets paid once a month, it's long enough between logins that sometimes I forget how to do something and mess it up. Everyone on staff that has helped me is always happy to fix anything I mess up. Cons There seems to be a few glitches in the system with saving payroll changes. We were only with the company for the 4th quarter of 2019, these were the problems we had. State payroll taxes were sent in but sent to a completely different account than ours which resulted in penalties. Our unemployment reports or payment was never sent in which resulted in penalties. When we had paper checks that needed to be sent to our office the shipping labels were printed but the package never sent out (this happened 3 times) which resulted in me writing in house checks and still being charged by Heartland for shipping and the printing of the checks. 6 months later I am still dealing with their incompetence.
