Pros There are new threats coming out daily. ThreatLocker helps add an important layer of security and brings system one step closer to protection from these new threats. ZeroTrust is not a new concept but ThreatLocker made it accessible to all businesses, big or small. I also have to say that the team at ThreatLocker have been amazing to work with and I wish other vendors would be as partner support focused. Cons Honestly there are not a ton of cons. The process to implement ZeroTrust can be a bit more involved than most realize, and ThreatLocker does have some of those challenges too. My experience with ThreatLocker has been particularly positive, largely due to the outstanding technical support they offer. The software onboarding hero (\[sensitive content hidden\]) was knowledgeable and completely understood all aspects of the software Cons Adopting new technologies or software such as Threatlocker has a long learning curve. A Significant amount of time and effort is required by all to become proficient and master this cybersecurity tool. Elevation is very useful for admin rights to run software, app control for stopping browser extensions, storage to monitor file changes or block USB, etc Pros Complete control. As an MSP, Threatlocker has taken our security stack to the next level. Application control, Elevation, Storage control and now recently we are adding Networking and evironment hardening with Configuration manager to the stack. We needed a product to give us better central control than RMM products offer and Threatlocker has delivered and beyond for our company. The University and support are also excellent. Cons The learning curve and initial noise of implementing the system brings some additonal work and training challenges. Threatlocker is a philosophy your techs need to adopt and this can be a struggle to overcome. April 10, 2024 5.0 Threatlocker is a great company and has in our opinion, the best support for a product that is complex in nature. Also, they have grown and added so many more products that actually work and make sense to add to our Security stack. We always recommend them to Peers. Pros The number one thing about Threatlocker is the Cyber Heros. We use a ton of software in our company and no one else does support like them. We have been meeting with an Engineer ever few months as we deploy our new clients and he is a rock star. The product is awesome, it blocks every single thing you do already have a policy for, which for any Zero day or net new attacks, its amazing. Cons The only thing i can even think about here is that it does take a bit of time to really know the program, feel comfortable to do it on your own. However, with the Cyber Heros they are always a min away if we get stuck. No client we have with Threatlocker installed has had a single ransomware or malware event…you can’t get better than that. Pros It’s the best product out there for application whitelisting. Pros ThreatLocker locks the workstations and servers' ability to install new or unapproved software and applications. Its straightforward interface allows users to request approval to install new applications. The protection is true for regular users as well as administrators. Pros The software is incredible, but what is better is the customer support. From the moment you pop a message in to the live chat, you will be speaking to someone within 30 seconds, and can even hop in a Zoom call if that is better for the issue at hand. Phenomenal. Cons The wording of some of the features could be reworked / explained better. For example removing the protection from a device isn't just a case of highlighting the asset and pressing "delete" or "disable protection". Neither of these features actually remove the protection. February 13, 2024 5.0 Overall, my experience with ThreatLocker has been excellent. It's easy to use with fantastic support. It gives our company complete piece of mind that nothing will run on our endpoints unless it has been approved. Pros What I like the most is the ThreatLocker support, it's excellent! Most of my questions have been answered through the university or the help page. Both are fantastic tools. That being said, if I can't find what I need, I message the Cyber Heroes, they respond almost instantly. They're very polite, knowledgeable and follow the problem through until you're happy to close the ticket. It's nice to know that if you're stuck or unsure, someone has your back. Cons I find that sometimes ThreatLocker doesn’t always elevate an application when it has been set on approval. This is an intermittent issue that I need to raise with the TreatLocker team when it happens again. I am sure it is an easy fix and I know the Cyber Heroes will be happy to look into. This is the only thing that I can think of that is negative. ThreatLocker goes the extra mile to be sure you understand the product and are deploying it successfully. The software works. It will stop anything and everything that either isn't allowed to run or it doesn't recognize. Pros There isn't anything about ThreatLocker I don't like. From the Ring Fencing to Allow Listing to Elevation control, it keeps users from doing things they shouldn't be while allowing what you need to run, run. I sleep at night knowing that some random software can't run on a client environment and cause an incident. Cons Threatlocker is not a set it and forget it product. Managing Director Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Threatlocker - Helping MSP's sleep at night" January 27, 2020 5.0 Application Whitelisting and Data Audit in one package - the 'deny or authorise' file copy to a USB drive is a silver bullet for firms concerned with sales staff leaving with their client list - this feature has given transparency on who is looking at what for many of our clients. The Whitelist means ransomware cannot run in a client network - couple this with Ringfencing and you have a very powerful data protection suite. Pros Very easy to use, stunningly effective, outstanding value for money and features keep getting added! Cons Can cause friction with users that have previously been used to being able to 'just do anything on my PC' however this is true of any security product that restricts prior (risky) functionality. It will stop the unknown software, and provide ring-fencing to make sure good software doesn't act across the network in ways it should not. I could not be happier with ThreatLocker. Pros ThreatLocker does what it promises. It catalogs and manages your known software while blocking unknown software from running. It also assists with elevation and network ringfencing. Together, these provide a great level of protection for the environment in case you do get breached. Cons It is not a set and forget, it takes active management. The time taken is reasonable, it just needs to be factored in. I probably spend 2 hours/week on managing ThreatLocker across nearly 400 endpoints. Cons At first it's a bit overwhelming to look at the audit logs and seeing all of the DLL and items that are being audited, doing it alone would be daunting but having the Threat Locker Help Desk team and onboarding team walking you thru made the process much easier, highly suggest taking enough dedicated time for the setup and onboarding clients. if you have an internal team make sure to have them on the calls. Being a provider and user of ThreatLocker has proven to be very beneficial in having the know-how efficiency when easily implementing and integrating these features into the daily flow of business. Allowlisting is by far the most frequently utilized feature our clients take advantage of daily. Creating policies at both a per user scale and org-wide scale has been very easy to use. Emails that alert when someone is requesting access making it possible to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Cons Being in the IT field we are often downloading and installing various software's and constantly needing to go into learning mode or allow the programs. It would be nice if there were an "over-ride" option from the desktop.... Possibly a right granted to specific users. i.e. - administrators. so that not anyone could do it but a known administrator could. However, I have had a very positive experience both in onboarding with \[sensitive content hidden\] and the application itself. So far, the most used case has been managing application installs for users, which has mostly been effortless. Cons The only negative experience I've had so far has been when an application was updated, but ThreatLocker saw this application as a new one post-update. This was mostly a minor inconvenience and methods to make the application accessible to the entire organization again were shared when I brought this up with my representative.
