### "Excellent SEO Tool - would recommend to any content team "

March 28, 2020

5.0

Being in charge of a content marketing program at growing startup, it was a huge challenge to for me to scalably create SEO-friendly outlines for our writers. Using Topic helped us bring our research time down from hours to minutes, and in doing so we've been able to not only improve the ranking of our content, but also create more of it. We've also been able to take our existing content library and optimize it using Topic, which has definitively shown us that using the product drives more clicks to our posts. It's been a real lifesaver, and it's the first tool I recommend to content teams producing SEO-focused content.

Pros

There are a lot of useful things about Topic, but the biggest that comes to mind is the the quality of the secondary keywords that it gives me. There are a lot of content optimization tools out there, and I've tried many of them. For me, Topic has been the one that gives me keyword suggestions that actually make an impact on our content's ranking. In addition, the founders are very open to sharing their SEO knowledge. They have been a valuable resource for us as we've integrated the tool with our entire team.

Cons

The only issue I've faced is the length of time it takes to create a content brief. I'm often creating so many of them that I have to wait for a bit. But otherwise my experience has been excellent.

### "My favorite content tool"

July 7, 2020

5.0

Our agency was looking for a solution to help scale content creation for our clients and we chose Topic because it looked like the right tool for the job. I found that unlike other SEO tools, Topic actually helps scale our productivity. Most SEO tools do the same thing. They let you look up the keywords, see what you are ranking for, show you pages that are broken, but none of them actually help you in doing the work. With Topic all I have to do is plug in our focus keywords, and it shows me everything I need to know to move ahead in the writing process. It's been one of the better SEO tools that I've used in a long time.

Pros

What I like most about Topic is how much time it saves us. Spending less time doing research for content allows us to scale up our content creation without having to hire. We’ve saved the cost of half a full-time employee and it’s allowed us to scale our productivity as a team. Previously our team could do 5 to 6 briefs a week, but now we can do 50 to 60. That’s a ten-fold increase in productivity. It's even helped us close a deal. We recently pitched content optimization services in a meeting with a potential client. This company had written 250 blog posts but none of them were ranking. During our sales process, we created a Topic content brief and used it to show them how they can improve the article and rank higher. Seeing the brief helped them trust that we knew what we were talking about and helped close the deal.

Cons

Nothing much. The UI is occasionally buggy, but refreshing fixes it.

### "UseTopic.com to help create better content"

June 29, 2020

5.0

Topic has been awesome to use. It helps me create detailed outlines that cover everything my audience cares about. The end result is that I can create a better outline in less time. The content grader has been helpful as well in ensuring the freelance writers that I work with meet a standard bar of quality. Being able to share the grader via a sharable link makes it easy for me to delegate the task of grading to the writer.

Pros

Before, I would look at the top pages in Google for a given keyword and go through each one individually to do my SEO research. I used to spend about an hour to create a quality outline. With Topic, it takes me just 30 minutes. What I like best is that it cuts the time in half and the outlines come out better. It is a really useful tool for anyone who is regularly creating content. I spent some time looking into software like Topic and it's competitors. The competitors just didn't fit what I was looking for. Topic is very easy to use and just gets the job done. With other products, I felt like I was going to need to spend hours reviewing tutorials to understand how to use them. So far I've been able to optimize about 40 pieces of content this month using Topic. I could never do this much without the tool.

Cons

There really is nothing not to like, it's a great time-saving tool and I've enjoyed using it. I will have to wait to see how my search engine results perform, but I've been able to create a lot of highly valuable content using outsourcers with this tool which I'm sure will increase my traffic.

Reason for choosing Topic

The price was better and Topic did what I needed. It is much easier to use. I did not understand how to use the competitor product based on the free trial. Topic is very user friendly.

### "Topic is our go-to tool for creating SEO content."

March 24, 2020

5.0

We've had a great experience working with Topic both in the results we've seen and the time its saved our writers. Creating content is a time consuming and expensive endeavor with inconsistent results, especially when you are in a competitive industry like ours. Topic has helped us make the most of our team's resources by making sure each piece of content we produce is SEO-friendly and matches what our audience is looking for.

Pros

My favorite thing about the software is that it works. When comparing posts where we've used it and haven't used it, we've seen noticeable positive differences in organic search traffic. And because it's so easy to use, we've been able to seamlessly integrate it into how we create content. Before, we had to do time-consuming research to make sure we were identifying search intent and the right subtopics to cover, but now it's as easy as going into the platform and creating a content report. In addition, their founders have been helpful and easy to reach when I've had questions.

Cons

For the most part, there hasn't been anything that we don't like about the platform. We make sure every post we publish is optimized with Topic. Looking forward to seeing how the product develops from here!

### "Every top SEO's secret weapon"

May 20, 2020

5.0

I'm able to create content that'll be able to compete on the first page of the SERPs. Previously, I used to write content blind using what I thought were SEO best practices. Topic takes a data-driven approach to helping me actually achieve that (without the guesswork). That way, my team can spend more time writing quality prose.

Pros

I love how it saves me time in creating SEO-optimized outlines and content, especially for longer-form articles. I probably save about 3 hours on average with each Topic report versus if I pulled the insights manually. My team works through dozens of articles each week too, so we save hundreds of hours each month.

Cons

The tool is can be slow at times or unresponsive when I load new content to grade. But that doesn't happen very often so it's a minor issue.

Cost was the primary reason for the switch but I'm also noticing a lot of additional features that are available with Topic that weren't available with Clearscope.

### "Cheaper Than Clearscope and Just as Efffective"

October 29, 2019

5.0

My SEO efforts are much easier with Topic than standard keyword research and LSI tools.

Pros

I like that it offers everything you get in Clearscope, for a fraction of the cost. I don't like having limitations on the number of reports I can run because I have such a high volume of pieces for all of my clients.

Cons

My only real complaint is that the reports can take a long time to generate. This makes sense, given the amount of data they have to parse through, but I wish it would run a bit faster.

Reason for choosing Topic

Pricing and number of reports, and the lack of a free trial.

### "Topic helped us optimise our content creation process immensely"

January 6, 2021

5.0

When we found Topic we were looking to generate content outlines that we can hand off to our writers. Since implementing Topic into our workflow, we are creating outlines at a much faster pace. The GPT-3 integration that Topic offers helps us to come up with titles/ descriptions and outline ideas in no time. I've used the content optimization part sparingly until now. One of our top converting pieces (bringing dozens of subs per month), sadly sank to 10-11th from top 3. After optimizing it with Topic, in about a week we got back to top 3/4. So it proves that there's real merit to Topic's content optimizer.

Pros

I love their simple UI interface. A lot of other tools I tested usually overwhelm the users by showing a lot of data and with their complicated workflows. With Topic, they show you just the right amount of information required to accomplish the task.

Cons

GPT-3 integration is still in its early stages. It works well with high volume keywords but when it comes to some niche keywords, it can go off the rails.

### "My Most Recommended Content Tool"

May 17, 2020

5.0

Topic is our go-to recommendation when I get asked about my favorite content marketing tools. We use it to help companies that I mentor grow their organic search traffic. It's useful for both giving old content a refresh and also for helping create new content. All of the teams we've recommended it to have had a positive experience both in the time it's saved them as well as the results they've seen. As an added bonus, the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] are always open to advising us when we have SEO questions.

Pros

It's easy and intuitive, and a no-brainer to use if you're regularly producing SEO content. All of the teams that we've recommended it to find themselves wondering why they hadn't found a tool like this sooner. And it's always improving. The \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] regularly add new features to the product based on our feedback

Cons

The only challenge we've run into is teaching writers to use the grade effectively: to use the recommended keywords to expose content gaps and not necessarily just add keywords without adding context. Besides that, we haven't run into anything so far.

### "Best Article Optimization Tool"

April 3, 2020

5.0

Topic ensures you are aware of all relevant keywords as you write or optimize your article and provides resources to make sure the writer understands context. We have been using Topic for two months now and have witnessed ranking increases on all optimized content. The niches we work in are volatile and rankings change frequently so we cannot provide detailed metrics on ranking improvements e.g. 15% ranking improvement for example.

Pros

Topic does a great job identifying articles written about the same or similar topic. The tool references paragraphs that use relevant keywords so that you understand the context. We have tried a number of well known page optimizers and find that Topic has the most user friendly dashboard.

Cons

We are a small agency so the higher price, as compared to similar tools, forces the user to reconfirm the value Topic offers every single month.

Reason for choosing Topic

The trial gave me a high level of confidence that we would achieve better results.

### "Reduces research time drastically, huge time savings"

May 22, 2020

5.0

Before Topic, we leaned heavily on traditional keyword research tools and manual research in order to create content outlines. The problem for us was that this process took hours and couldn't be easily taught to our freelance writers. After Topic, we've been able to cut our research time by more than half. Their tool is so intuitive that we can have our writers do the research themselves, and now we can spend that extra time in other important areas of our content marketing.

Pros

My favorite thing about Topic is the amount of time it frees up for us. Which means we can invest more in other marketing channels without sacrificing on the quality of our content. Another side benefit is that having a set process in place enables us to have a consistent quality standard for anything we publish. It's hard to imagine going back to our previous workflow after switching to Topic.

Cons

The only con is that there isn't an easy way for us to scale down and scale up reports besides contacting them. However, they have always been quick to respond so it hasn't been a big issue for us.

### "A powerful tool for content marketers and writers"

July 31, 2021

5.0

Pros

It is very easy to use. I love the content grade it gives articles during research phase and before you publish. This helps you write better content than your competitors. It also tells you how many words articles that rank are, which topics they cover and more. It is an invaluable tool for any content team.

Cons

There is a slight learning curve. Don't skip the onboarding videos like I did. Watching them made understanding the software better.

### "Simple but Powerful."

May 16, 2020

5.0

Topic is invaluable in helping us rank for competitive industry terms. We've tested it on our content library, optimizing our top sales materials that also generate organic search traffic. We've seen a strong impact. I love how it's simple to use, easy enough for anyone to start using in a couple of minutes even if you aren't an SEO expert. It's been exciting to see the results and we're looking forward to continuing to use this product on new content.

Pros

When we looked at the results, they spoke for themselves. After optimizing the content using Topic, we saw a marked turnaround for pages that had been declining for the past year. A month after the changes, traffic grew to reach previous levels. We're happy with the results.

Cons

I wish they had a lower pricing tier for personal projects, but besides that haven't had any problems.

### "An essential part of our content stack"

March 28, 2020

5.0

Before using Topic, we tried a number of different SEO tools with content optimization features, but none of them stuck because they were too hard to use or too data-heavy for our content team to integrate into their day-to-day. Our experience with Topic was/is completely different. What we like the most about Topic is that it's an SEO tool that caters to writers, making it the process of improving content easy. Their content brief is a valuable guide for us when we are put together an outline, and the grader serves as an extra check. Topic helps us feel confident in every piece of content we are publishing.

Pros

### "Essential for getting our content engine off the ground"

May 15, 2020

5.0

Pros

Topic has been an essential tool for getting our SEO content engine ramped up. We had demo calls with several competitors and were recommended Clearscope, but Topic felt much cleaner and easier to understand/use. We're glad we went with Topic as it has been easy to use and understand, and has been massively helpful for our writers. Plus, the Topic team is highly responsive and helpful. Even in the few months that we've been working with them they've added a bunch of helpful features to make our workflow easier.

Cons

I wish Topic could have a plug in with Google docs so that we wouldn't have to copy and paste our text over to their tool to get it graded. I actually mentioned this to the Topic team and they already had a G-Docs plug in on their roadmap, so this shouldn't be an issue for long. I also mentioned that I wanted better organization and the team built a tagging system within a week. Love the willingness to listen to customers

### "Fantastic tool for content brief creation and improving content"

August 10, 2020

5.0

Topic automates the research involved in creating the content brief, and helps me write an outline efficiently. The grader make it easy for my writing team to reach full topical coverage. When I'm doing research for a new piece of content, I want to see the nuances of the subject and understand what I should cover. Topic helps me find that quickly while allowing me to maintain the level of editorial control that I need.

Pros

I was really impressed by the topics/keywords that it surfaces. I've tried other tools like Surfer and Clearscope, and Topic has surfaced better results compared to them.

Cons

Ease of use - the easy-to-understand content grade and interface makes it clear what needs to be done in order to improve the content Integration with current processes - because it is easy to use, we can hand it off to our writers and agency to use without having to do a long training session More search traffic - content that better satisfies our audience's search intent improves our organic search traffic Saves research time when outlining articles - in order for our content to be comprehensive, we would have had to do hours of research, which Topic speeds up by showing us how long the article should be, the relevant subtopics, and how competitors stack up.

### "Happy with Topic"

January 26, 2021

5.0

The team at Topic has also been quick to reply to questions and comments. So I know I can turn to them if I have issues or need help. I'm also excited to see how their content grader can improve the quality of published articles and drafts turned in by writers.

Pros

Topic has drastically cut down the amount of time we spend researching keywords and SERP results to build content briefs. Before, we would average anywhere from a half hour to hour to build a brief. Topic has sliced that in half and streamlined the whole process. They've made something potentially complex and difficult to use easy and simple to navigate. The interface is intuitive and does not require a steep learning curve.

Cons

Not many to report. The few minor issues I've encountered have already been reported to their team, and to their credit, they took the time to listen to me and attempt to address them.
